PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

  1. I've had the MD-11 for about 4 days now and have a few quick questions. I must admit that I haven't been through every page of the manuals yet, but I have certainly looked and can't find this information.1. Does anyone know what the is the maximum allowable T/O pitch? I'm used to most aircraft (know the Boeings best) being limited to the 13-17 degree range. However the autopilot with hold upwards of 20-22 degrees to maintain V2 and I find that this is about what I need for a mnaul flight. Is this within the safe operations envelope for the MD-11?2. I've been used to flying V2+10 instead of V2 that the autopilot likes. Can I just get the FMS to command this by adding …

    Hi all you luck guys who have got their MD11. Please don't go on about how good it is, you're making me envious. Why - 'cos I have tried and tried to find how I can get my hands on one, but I can't.All I get from the PMDG site is that their ecommerce site is down, the message is dated 16th December and whatever I do to try and buy one, I end up in the same place.Now I don't believe the site has been down for that long so please please please can someone help me to buy an MD11 for FSX.Please!Merv Gagen

    Good Day,i just tried to program my FMC for an Transpacific flight from HKG to LAX. I want insert some PAT waypoints which are in LAT/LONG Format e.g. 3600N 15000E. In the PMDG FMS guide i read i can enter such waypoints in NxxWxxx Format. So i typed N36E150 but it says "Not in Database". I also tried some other Formats but nothing worked. For NAT waypoints which are like "5600N 03000W" i can type into the FMS "5630N" and that's the only way it works but just for Northatlantic Tracks not for the Pacific Tracks. So maybe i'am doing something wrong but i'am not able to insert LAT/LONG waypoints into the FMS.So, i need some help.Thanks,Michael Nikel

    The download file is certainly on the site. The download link works. Unfortunately, customer must be online at the same time. I use a high-speed cable modem and my download speed with this file is less than 1kb/sec - that's a 7+ hour download for a relatively small file. I've tried all day - since the notice.I'm sure one could say that it is possible that there is something wrong with my system. Prior to attempting the download from PMDG, I downloaded the Elite Air Studio Shanghai Hongqiao Intl package from Aerosoft. There are 9 files at 3Gb.   9. Some more questions (they keep on coming) :( :1.Unfortunately, I've chosen FL100 for the cruise level. Since the plane slightly deviated from that altitude, it messed up with the speeds, and I guess this was the cause that the automatic descend was initiated wit a "VERT ALERT" instead of being started silently.Anyway, the descend begun, but at some point the plane started to dive below the vertical path more and more, and then, V/S was announced instead of PROF, see screenshot 1.     Hello all,For pilots flying online on the IVAO network, with this new update the TCAS switching from Stdby <-> Mode C is working GREAT now.It was the first test I did after installing. So switching this mode on IvAp2 is no longer needed.Thanks Michael for solving this issue.

    The MD-11 has been designed with "relaxed stability", so LSAS was implemented to compensate for this. The reason was to have a CoG moved to the aft limit during cruise to minimize induced drag. Can someone please explain (in an understandable way please, I'm no aerodynamic engineer nor a master of physics :( ) the relationship between CoG and drag and what that means for the MD-11?Andreas

    guys,i have the pmdg md11. I just installed REX. Temperatures last night dipped below -66C and my fuel line got frozen. I put in type 4 and my fuel line is getting near a frozen point as well. Is there a way to prevent this? Please help. thanks

    I think I have narrowed down a possible problem w/ MD-11, and want to know if anyone has ever experienced such a problem at anytime w/ any other product.Approximately half way through almost all flights about 98-99% using th MD-11, fs9 will go to desktop, a crash but not a crash, I then click Fs9 on the system tray of desktop and my flight comes back up. I lose no time w/ the flight, it just goes to desktop. All running programs continue w/out interruption, RC4, ASA, PFE or ASv6.5 whatever. I have run varying lengths of flights 7 hours to 2 and always about half way through wham. Is this a possible problem created by MD-11 or something else? Vincent

    Because of the MD11's high nose-up attitude during the approach and landing, I often like to hit the "W" key for a full outside view. The only problem is that I can't seem to display the PFD in this view. If I hit shift+F9, the PFD is displayed for a split second, and then the view changes back to the 2D cockpit.     Just for my basic understanding (and because I've experienced different results already):When I descend without doing nothing (full autoflight engaged), should I get the indications on the PFD to lower flaps (i.e. the hollow magenta circles at lower speeds) automatically or do I need to deploy slats or flaps 15 first?In other words: Does the FMS indicate the need for slower speeds regardless of flaps settings or does only e.g. flaps 15 deployment initiate the automatic speed reduction function?As said, I had both scenarios, one where I got the magenta hollow circles when there were no flaps/slats set, and yesterday had a new situation where the FMS didn't indicate me any …

I've made some screenshots for things that are unclear to me.Picture 1:When descend is automatically initiated, I get different results at times though I always prepare the situation in the same way. The only difference is the route flown.Situation 1: Descend starts "silently", but VNAV (in magenta) with a fixed descend rate becomes the active mode.Situation 2: Descend is somehow visually indicated by alternate blinking "VERT ALERT" and "PROF TO xxx".What's the reason I get these different descend scenarios?     I know, the manual says it all, but does anyone know an information source where the FMA modes are better documented? I think of images like the ones present in AOMs/POHs of Airbus and Boeing where e.g. for takeoff, the annunciations are depicted for each phase of the takeoff.I ask because sometimes the annunciations are not fully understandable for me, should mean, I can explain what the FMS does, but not why a specific announcement is made and not another. I just like to be more aware what to expect in terms of annunciations in certain situation.     Hello all,Have bought the MD11 for FS9. Absolutly great!!The only thing I find is that the MD11 is very quick tojump into overspeed on high altitudes (i.e. 34-35000 ft) when winds change. Especialy it doesn't like the tail winds. I know that the autopilot is not ment to be a "fire and forget" tool, but find the plane very nervous.My question: is this normal or better realistic for the MD11 or is it the simulation.     I know that we can disable the FO displays on the MD-11, however, doing so not only disables the FO displays but the Center display as well. Is there a way to disable the FO displays but keep the center display on?Thank youNick Mathews
