PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

At long last I purchased my MD11, and the combo pack download link arrived for FS9 and FSX. So much for the good news.For the past month or so, my internet provider has methodically fleeced me by supplying way less bandwidth than I paid for. This resulted in my 303 MB MD11 combo pack download process slowing down to a crawl that lasted for 5 excruciating hours. My worst fears about the integrity of the downloads were then realized when both versions of the MD11 wound up riddled with errors that prevented the FS9 MD11 from installing or working. Just for testing, I tried to construct a path from KSEA to CYYJ with SID and STAR and all. The result was a strange depiction of the path at the destination, see the attached screenshot.I tried to ease the situation by editing the approach part by hand. Basically, the important portion is: CONDI-CONDI/260/15-MBNB (260/15 is just an example). I tried the PBD waypoint further away from MBNB both in distance and in angle. The result is that this waypoint is never planned to be overflown but extremely generously bypassed. I've flown several automatic descends with different results, so I thought I better ask here (I've probably missed this in the manuals).I'm somehow confused about the way the FMS determines target speeds during descend and approach, and I'd like to get a clarification on the magenta circles (hollow, filled) on the speed tape:I've experienced that the target speed isn't necessarily the speed present in the FMC. E.g. I had a situation where the next waypoint during descend was listed with 190 in the FMC, but the plane continued to sink with 240 kts. Again: I know, the manual says it all, but I think I missed it (:(): Are there more non-obvious reasons (maybe FS related) that the FMS, though all prerequisites are fulfilled, degrades from DUAL LAND to a lower mode like APPR ONLY) so that the autopilot disconnects before touchdown?Andreas

I did a missed approach by pressing the TOGA button on the throttles. The MD11 flew to the MAP but did not make any turns to fly the procedure. I had the speed, alt, course, and R turns loaded in the FMS. The MD 11 just flew past the MAP point. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. I am new to the MD 11.ThanksDon

Hello Again,I am in the middle of my second flight with the MD-11 (FX619 KMIA to KMEM), and I have come up with a question. Right below the timer controls in a button labeled "Event Marker." What does it do and is it modeled in this simulation? I looked in the "Instruments and Navigation" section as referenced in the beginning schematics in the systems manual but could not find anything. Hello, I have a few questions about the MD-11, FS9 version:1 - In FS9's effects folder the MD11 installs a bunch of effects files like:fx_PMDG_MD11_apu_fire.fxfx_PMDG_MD11_flapvortex.fxfx_PMDG_MD11_fuel_dump.fxfx_PMDG_MD11_engine_fire.fxetc... but I haven't seen any of these actually working. I set up the failures menu to simulate engine and apu fires, and did some fuel dumping but didn't see any visual effect. Am I doing something wrong?2 - What are the differences between the normal and "b" .mdl models? (eg. I was in my mess around mode when I discovered the following...When F28 is selected, raising the gear causes the F50 bug to be displayed on the speedtape, and lowering the gear causes the F35 bug. What's the display logic?If in landing config (gear +F35/50) causes the Vmo to decrease? Why is this? With F35, raising the gear causes the Vmo to decrease to ~187kt, and the F50 limit bug moves to ~157kt.If we select F50, the Vmo moves down to 157kt.Why does this happen? Hello All,I just completed my first flight with the -11 (FS9) and all I can say is FANTASTIC. From start to finish, probably the best add-on I have ever flown. I followed the tutorial pretty much to the letter and am very impressed with the immersiveness of this product. I even let the aircraft auto-land, which is something I never do unless minimums are low enough. I was also completely surprised at how smooth the frame rates were. I thought for sure that my dinosaur of a PC would slow at least a little...but I was pegged at 25fps the whole time. How do you uninstall the FS9 MD-11? My load configuration utility show 0 for ZFW and -1.$ for Takeoff CG. It will NOT write changes to the aircraft.cfg. I cannot change the amount of fuel. I think maybe the only way is a full re-install.Any ideas?Nick-

I have been training myself on the MD11 for some time, off and on, without screen problems. Now I have come up against a problem not previously experienced whereby the screen freezes after an MCDU entry during the compilation of a simple flight plan. I have found it difficult to trace exactly what is causing it but it does occur when I attempt to change an altitude in the Sec F-Plan using /3000 . The climb/descend line shows up after pressing th e appropriate key but thereafter I can do nothing. Hi all. I'm having some sound issues with the FS9 PMDG MD-11 (a crackling sound to be specific). Now I will say that they just started when I changed out my motherboard and therefore the sound card (using on board sound), but it only happens when I'm flying the PMDG MD-11. If I go into the MSFS sound menu and un check the "Environment" the crackling (and the environment sounds) go away. I need help to break the habit. I know this plane can be flown on short flights and some do exist in real life. This bird was made for long range flights which I do not have time to fly. I fly real time ONLY and in the VC switching to 2d just to set flaps. PMDG is working on something hopefully smaller for regional flights but until than what can I do. I have have only flown Captain Sim 757 once and a great freeware Bell 430 once since the release of this plane for FS9.
