PMDG General Forum

Hello folks--I have decided to dust-off my 744 last night, and noticed something peculiar. The white numbers on the displays (for example airport elevation and APU temp) started to overlap their blue labels. So let's say, my airport elevation is 5600. The '5' would overlap the text. No other problems seen so far.Any clues? I really wouldn't want to reinstall this bird. Do you think a repair install would fix it?Cheers,

I thought I would try out the Wideview thingie. Everything seems to be working. If I apply thrust to the engines, you can see the results on the client PC. A few things though. I can't turn on the taxi lights from the server PC (Instruments PC), I can turn on the landing lights though. When I power down the engines on the Server PC, they are not powered down on the client PC. Is this supposed to be like this or am I missing something?Lee Alexander

Hey guys,I've been using the PMDG 737 forver now. I am used to the aircraft and everything works great, except for the FMC on some routes.I fly a lot out of Panama MPTO to many destinations. Usually I have no issues entering the airways, etc and everything fits in well. However, I've been having issues with the route to Miami. The airway starts at TBG so I enter a direct TBG on the FMC, then I want to use the UG435 airway that goes all the way up to GCM Grand Cayman VOR. For some reason the FMC sends an Invalid entry, like if the airway doesn't exist. Very strange behavior on the FMC. I always used it that way, now I had to reinstall and I am seeing these issues.Any sugge…

When I program a route with standard star from PMDG database, it seems that all too often the FMC will miss the target altitudes on the star by quite alot, saying unable target altitude and arriving so high that I have to circle to lose a couple thousand feet to get lined up for the ILS. The target speeds seem appropriate for the star.It appears the FMC is calculating the TOD way too late in flight path to make it down on time.Is there anything I can do to avoid this issue?Greg

HiI can't turn around on a normal runway. The turn radius on the 747 should be better than that!?!Anybody else with this problem?In the manuals it says that the plane vil taxi on idle, like real life. That is not working either..Wakas

Hi all,I was flying my PMDG 747 earlier today for the first time and I noticed that the front wheel doesn't turn when you apply left or right rudder. I also discovered that the front wheel nly turns using the ailerons.I was wondering if this is normal or if this is a problem that can be fixed. I could take a picture of it if someone could help me by telling me how to.ThanksChris

I have been battling the dreaded out of memory errors for quite some time now and was only able to fly the 747-400 by using the auto save facility and restarting the flight when I had the CTD usually on finals as soon as the localiser captured... it was most frustrating and really took away a lot of the enjoyment of flying this wonderful plane... I am running Windows XP Professional with an Intel 6600 overclocked to 3.0Ghz a Nvidia 7800GT and 4GB of Corsair Ram which obviously xp only sees around 3.2GB...I am using GE PRO, Active SKY, Radar Contact, Flight Environment, Ultimate Terrain (all areas) Fly Tampa etc etc and would find that the page file usage would increase to…

I have looked through the forum archives before posting a new thread, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to create a flight plan/route. Is there any websites which offer 'pre-made' flight plans so I can just key in the airways and waypoints into the FMC. Dilip Solanki

Earlier today I was setting up for a flight from Dubai to Gatwick, however on push back I couldn't get the no. 3 engine to start. I'm almost sure I had everything set up correctly (the other engines were fine)After returning to the gate and getting the mechanics over they sorted it (upon an FS restart) and I could get under way :-lolCan anyone shed any light on what may have been the problem?Cheers

Hi all, When I'm flying with PMDG 737-800, the computer completely feezes, and I cannot recover it by any means. I have to reset the system, and it will not even let me close the Simulator and go back to desktop. The only way is to reset. This happens occasionaly, and at different phases of the flight (simetimes at the gate just after the engine start-up) . I'm not currently flying online yet. I'm using a 20" wide 16:10 monitor, and have to change the res. to 1048 (4:3) to properly use the FMC keypad. Since the graphics quality is really bad at this res, I occasionaly change the res to normal 1680-1050. Can the problem be from this? Will reinstalling the simulator, and PM…

I need some help with the Vnav. I very new to this so I'll try to explain what was going on during my flight. My flight was from CYYZ to KSEA I loaded the flight plan the altitude was fl280 I set the fmc up and prepared for take off. I armed the Lnav and Vnav set my v2 speed and set an altitude of 5000 in the MCP.I increase throttle to 70 and then engaged the to/ga, after 1000 agl I engaged the autopilot.This is where I ran into problems, the aircraft just kept climbing,speeds were all over the place. I just let it be for awhile it would try to climb then it would kind of stall, then it would speed up again, the max airspeed I got was 200 KIAS ,it was constantly switching…

Hello... for at least 2 weeks now I suddenly have a problem with the PMDG.Everytime I fly, the FMC doesn't seem to follow the route correctly, sometimes I get XTK Errors of 7nm or even more. However, this only seem to happen in Europe and when I cross the atlantic, once I reach for example the USA everything is fine and the FMC follows the track correctly with no, or very low XTK Error...I have attached an image I just took while flying over Canada (EDDF-CYVR).I am using the latest AIRAC 0706, but it has also happened with 0706.I tried uninstalling the PMDG and reinstalling it but it didn't help, the weird thing is that I never had this before, it just suddenly came.I sho…

Since we don't get the free Airac info anymore, I can't seem to be able to update the data in UK Route. Anybody know how to do it please. I've tried copying the airac infor into the UK Route data file but it doesn't recognise it.

Hi,Another question from a noob to this aircraft,I keep getting a prompt telling me that the fuel in the tank I have chosen is critical,and the centre tank shows nearly empty, but the wing tanks are full,I would have thought that fuel would be drawn from all tanks automatically when required.how do I get to draw from all tanks not just the centre?I have all pumps turned on.

Is anyone painting the 747X in Boeing house/dreamliner colours? Also I know they would be fictional colours, but any chance it could also be done for the GE and RR models? :DThanks

Despite years of simming experience and a lot flying the 747-400 very successfully, I'd never actually started the Queen up from cold'n dark. So tonight I decided to give it a serious go. After 7 attempts, however, using primarily the PMDG tutorial along with two other 3rd party tutorials, I gave up in frustration (and embarassment).The main problem is that every time I establish electrical power, I seem to get a SYS FAULT light on Hyd Pump 4. Why? I don't know. Also, I get an indication that EXT PWR is AVAIL without touching anything at all. I use the PMDG Tutorial 1 file for this practice work.
