Am I correct in my understanding that PMDG 737s won't work with Windows 2000?

I like to fly at dusk with the virtual cockpit, but the vc panel gets so dark that it is not even possible. I like the night-time back lighting, but it doesn't kick in until 25 minutes AFTER FS9 says it's 'dusk'. The panel lights (Shift-L) up to that point are useless, just lightening the color of some sections of the panel. In contrast, the 2D panel switches to back lighting 10 minutes BEFORE official FS 'dusk' (as shown in the Time&Season menu). Is there any way to set the PMDG config. to switch to backlighting sooner? Surely others must be experiencing this dark period too. I know I can use the 2D panel during this hour of darkness (or it's much longer than that und…

I check the downloads section of the PMDG website to see if any new free liveries have been released. There have been 69 (600/700) and 51 (800/900) for what seems like absolutely ages now!I keep seeing screenshots of new liveries being featured in this forum with comments along the lines of..."going for installer writing".So come on PMDG, when will we get to fly these???James Stevensonhttp://www.virtualaviation.co.uk

Hi guys - been a while since my last post.I just recently got FS9 and have started to migrate to the new sim. So Sunday I decided to install my B1900 and take her for a spin. I installed her and fired up FS9. Am the flight began I noticed that there were loads of gauges "missing" from the panel. I checked to make sure that all of the PMDG gauges were correctly installed into the gauges folder. After lots of testing and investigation into this I discovered that the PMDG panel uses the gauge "kingair.gau" which was not present in my FS9's gauges folder. So I ended up copying the FS2002 gauge and sorted it out. Has anyone had this issue?I was intrigued to find that this plane…

Hi,Just a small question: Does the MCP in the picture below (follow link) also have spd intv. and alt intv.? I ask this because it has pushbuttons like the B744 and they also have SPD intv. And they activate it when pushing on the Spd selection knob. So does this NG have that to??

Good Morning, Captains!I've been missing from the forum since 10MAY, when I stepped away from day-to-day operations at PMDG in order to have time for my marriage and honeymoon! My new wife, (Marisa) and I were married here in Washington, DC on 15MAY, and we left on our honeymoon three days later...We've been home a few days now- and I have finally finished catching up on the 900+ email that accumulated in my inbox during my abscence! We have some amazing and wonderful new products coming down the pipeline, including the much talked about PMDG 747-400... During the next week to ten days, we'll be announcing new products, information and events related to PMDG's future- and…

Hello, Captains,I could not find a review in AVSIM for Sim Control 2 (I don't understand why AVSIM reviews are only for FS2002...).Does anyone tried SimControl2? I saw the demo and read the Manual, but it seems a little risky, since it requires that one uninstall and reinstall everything (and I don't even know if I have all the originals)...Any tip is welcomed.Keep the blue side up.BPilot

Captains,I didn't find any reference to this in the forum search, so here goes. After a few months of learning the NG, I have recently been practicing touch and go's, and as a result have had to set V1, Vr, Vref speeds manually. After takeoff and on downwind I set Vref and approximately 5-30secs after setting, I experience a CTD.I have tried removing and reinstalling FS9 with no other add-ons, as well as removing/reinstalling the NG. All to no avail. I have also tried the Seasonal texture workaround as I thought that may have been the cause. I have also tried this with all varients of the NG. If I fly a FMC programmed flight plan I have no problems. So the only common deno…

Does anyone know how to perform a touch and go in the NG? I tried once and I got the take-off config warning sound when spooling the engines up on the ground roll.

Hi!Just got a little curious when i read the following on b737.org.uk:"Derate is a semi-permanent engine fix, used to reduce the maximum thrust available for instance down to 18.5k from 20k on -3/5/700's. It is also used to equalise the thrust where B2 & C1 engines are mixed on the same airframe. When an engine is derated the extra thrust is not available to the pilot. Derating is accessible through the FMC on TAKEOFF REF 2/2 or N1 LIMIT (NG's) but this is prohibited by most operators. The derates (TO-1 & TO-2) can be 10 to 20%. It follows that an engine may be derated and also be using reduced thrust in which case you could be taking off at Full power -20% -25% =…

Hello,I was wondering if there are any formulas/utilities to calculate a step climb. I know it rarely happens, but I've seen several real Transavia flightplans from Amsterdam to Tenerife (+1500 nm) where they do climb (and descent) in steps. Thanks in advance!Regards,Joost

Hi,Just moved one of the thrust levers (1) accidentally. From then on I could not move them together any longer. Then I tried the default Lear45 where one can use E1 or E2 to select one of the engines to be controlled or use E12 to select both. With E12 on the Lear the joystick's throttle axis controls both levers together again. However, this does not seem to work with the 737-700 at least. Am I doing something wrong here or should I have read through something else than the 10 PDFs ?Cheers,Siggy

In this case the FMC autmatically switsch to decend mode. Now I'd like to climb back to cruising FL and continue in cruising mode. But the FMC dont allow to switch back to cruising mode. Can anyone help me?ThxMike

Many pilots have noticed that once you use spoilers when landing and even when on the ground a warning sounds when throttle is set to over 40% even though everything seems to be setup for T/O as it should (flaps, trim, spoilers in DOWN pos.,...).There is definetly something weird going on with spoilers. Even though it looks like spoilers are NOT armed and in DOWN position its actualy not in DOWN position :) You have to left click on the spoilers with mouse and !HOLD! and then DRAG the lever UP to the upper edge of the throttle window. Even though spoiler lever wil not move the audio warning will go OFF. Problem solved. There you go. Try it. To me this looks like a stupid b…

Hi!How can I convert a -rte. file into a -pln. -file?Example: I would like to make a flightplan in PMDG:s FMC and later export it into FS9 flightplans, and later load Active Sky 2004 and Active Radar. How can I export the flightplan from PMDG:s FMC ( 737 )to FS9 flightplan-library??CHeersMats, Sweden

Just a short message to thank Tim for his excellent tutorial.Having flown the PMDG 737 for a few months, in a 'rough and ready' approach to flying, it was useful to learn some proper procedures. In particular I enjoyed the context in which the tutorial flights are set, that of an intense series of line training flights, and the anecdotes that help add to the ambience. Many thanks for the time spent creating an imaginative tutorial.James Davidson

Hello,I'm after a little advice.Without winds I set the auto throttle to VREF + 5. However, I notice that I seem to always float (ground effect?) down the runway without actually touching down.On final should I be at VREF + 5 or VREF as determined by the FMC?I notice that if I slow down below VREF I neary always land without floating.I'd like to learn to do it properly - thanks..........Iain

I've UN/IN-STALLED several times trying to get rid of theQuickTips option. It's set to 0 (off) and FS9 reflects so inbasic settings, but - you guessed it - the tips just keeppopping up! ;-( You know: "Hit Crl-E to start engines","You're Altimeter is incorrect"...etc, etc. Anyone had this issue and solved it?Ron McLeod CYEG

Help Please!I do not have the enhanced Airline Style options on my PMDG Menu.I have the following installed:-FS9 - ACOF737NG Package Upgraded to 1.3737-800/900 Package installed + the temp fix file.I've re-installed everything a couple of times now, after using the removal tool, and still only have the basic 737NG styles menu. Am I doing anything wrong? I would like to get away from the default Southwest Analogue/Glass combination to an entirely glass set-up.RegardsAlex McBain
