Just highlighting an excellent piece of modding, only just discovered by myself, by Ezo21 from Poland available to download from the Org. This transforms the exterior and more importantly the cockpit. If your interests in heavy iron centre on inertia management and slow response jet engines the default MD 82 with the above package is a gem..and free ! With enough switchology to be interesting but not so much to bore or preclude half hour duration short hops in-between family duties. The auto's can hold an altitude and a heading, which is all I need, the rest is HOTAS. A great steam gauge alternative to that other great "default" freeware the glass cockpit 744 by Spa…

  6. I was already quite impressed with the new XP12-weather engine but after a few tests with the newest beta XP 12.1.0b2, I realised that it had massively improved. Almost all local weather-conditions were matching 1:1 the newest metars (or very close to them) and the enroute weather was also very close to the genereal weather-charts and the transitions beetween both weather-sources seemed well balanced. During my 8-9 flights so far I have only found one single metar that was quite off compared to the real one but otherwise this weather-tuning is for me the biggest improvement fo that new version and a huge step forward. Today, I started form EHAM and there was a big st…

Hi, Time to investigate this hard crash to desktop, see if there is anything in the event log. I haven't seen one of these in some time. Just after take off at 16:30 into the video. Noticed some very bad frame rates with this nasty weather, 17fps.

  11. First of all I have to say that, yes, I know about online professional and amateur, paid and free solutions for ATC, like PilotEdge and VATSIM, but I don't want to use those because I don't have the necessary conditions to profit from either when simming, so, solutions like FSHUD + FSLTL have offered me while playing MSFS 2020 are my ideal... I bought WT3, and ... well, I am fine with the AI traffic injection, although I do prefer FSLTL, but then that ATC 😕 nah.... XP12's default ATC is nothing to write home about ... Now, some have told me I should try Pilot2ATC for the ATC and something like JustFlight Traffic Global for the AI, and I should probably try …

  12. FSHUD - nothing comes close to it in XP12 ... FSIPANEL ? Is there an equivalent to this one which is great in MSFS 2020 to position any of my airliners on a SID / STAR / APP, Route waypoint... or in a training situation including emergencies? Regarding ATC, yes I know about RC3 being usable with XP but it's a mess for me to install.. and yes there's Pilot2ATC, but it doesn't control AI Traffic... WT3 is very very poor when it comes to ATC and traffic control... Any alternative suggestions really welcomed !

Almost seduced by the Dark Side, even as a long term fan and user of X-Plane. Slightly ironic given one of my X-Plane complaints. After loading up X-plane12 and again getting frustrated by: --difficult to read basic instruments in unrealistically dark cockpits --laughable vortex, wing condensation effects --poor inertial modelling of response to out of trim conditions in some aircraft --rainfall from nowhere --show stopping turbulence effects I am ashamed to say I started looking at digging out my MSFS2020 discs bought on release, loaded and then after a short whoww phase un-installed. After an internet search I repeated the whoww …

A larger update than expected, what should have been mostly a graphics update now has new systems, better flight model & possibly a new camera system. Well done LR! https://www.x-plane.com/2024/02/whats-new-in-x-plane-12-1-0-oh-boy/

  18. I have been noticing that default weather in XP12.0.9 still fails, most of the time, to properly depict the cloud coverage reported by METARs in a given scenery area. Yesterday tested it around where I live, with lot's of convective clouds all around ( SCT to BKN ) not being depicted at all ... Using ASXP12 works beautifully, and I can get proper cloud cover according to the reference METARs... Looking fwd for LR really giving more control to programs like ASXP so that they can further enhance these and other aspects of weather depiction and effects... ASXP also tunes turbulence and shear, which is really necessary, although 12.1 may bring good news …

Here more exciting news about the next release coming from JustSid (source: discord). And this is only about the wipers and rain/ice effects: Let's see... - Wipers pick up rain streaks - The surging every few seconds is fixed - Icing does what you would expect because the system now simulates and tracks ice accumulation - Icing gets affected by the wind direction, so surfaces pointing into the wind will receive icing - Icing is read back from the GPU simulation and pumped into the FM so that the flight model and visuals match up - Rain spawning is affected by wind direction and gravity, so it won't just spawn on surfaces pointing away from the wind …

  24. Hi Everybody, Is X-Plane 12 allowed to have more than one entry in its shortcut? For instance I run reshade so I have my XP12 shortcut setup as shown below. Renaming Xplane 12.exe to FlightSimulatior.exe has removed all issues with reshade, no more crashes. I now have both exe files in this folder so any updates to XP12 will work as normal. "C:\X-Plane 12\FlightSimulator.exe" --allow_reshade I would like to add the following for my AMD 7950x3D CPU --num_workers=7 I haven't tried this, is this possible? "C:\X-Plane 12\FlightSimulator.exe" --allow_reshade --num_workers=7
