My mind is creeping dangerously close to a decision to upgrade my computer. I currently have a p4 1.9 (428 pin socket), an nvidia ti 4200 and over 700 megs of ram. My question, though, is this: are even the new 3 gig machines enough for MSFS?The reason for this question is that weather brings my system to a screeching halt. My frames in cruise at 20,000 feet in the IK DC-9 are about 20-23 - locked at 23. When entering partly cloudy skies, I am down to single digits. I have the clouds set at a very low level, and most of the other sliders at medium to high. I also have FS Genesis mesh installed. So, if I increase my CPU by 58%, I am guessing that my performance in th…

I've got a Ti4600 and used the 41.09 before I up graded to the 43.51 because of a sound issue and I hoped it would help things, but instead FS kept crashing and things were slower on the 43.51, so I wen't back to the 41.09's and things are ok now except for the sound thing, it seems to be more predominant when any smoke or clouds are present, and even flying on vatsim too, I get tripple button clicks instead of single, and the sound is sometimes distorted too, any ideas here guy's.I'm running XP Pro with 1024mb ram on a XP1900 cpu and SP1.

I recently purchased the latest version of Asus's A7N8X Deluxe, and let me tell you - no disappointment here!I chose to upgrade from an A7V333, and I made the right choice when I see the performance I get now in FS2002 and CFS2. This board's nForce2 chipsets work perfectly with my GF4 Ti4600. I kept all my on-board hardware that I used with the old board, and everything just seems to work better. My system is as follows:Athlon XP 2200+1GB PC2100 RAMLeadtek A250TD GF4 Ti 4600 w/ 43.51 drivers & DX9aThe on-board audio supports digital 5.1 if you have those kind of speakers, and I was happy enough with the sound quality that I didn't even bother to put my SB Audigy MP3+ c…

HiFirst of all, I'm NOT a computer expert and need things explained in a simple way please :-)My specs:Pent4 1.4G256M RAMNVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/GeForce2 Pro (That's what it says when I look in the System place)Hard drive 30G, 8.62G usedCreative Sound Blaster Audio PCI (WDM)WIN ME (updated automatically)I run FS2K2 together with V1.7 of WxRE. AutoGen - OFF Frame rates locked at 18fps. AI traffic at 75%, IFR only. Sliders generally - sort of average, not full. Cloud density 60%. Phew! And still it stutters from time to time. It's just not 'fluid'.What would you recommend that I do to boost this system? I'm due a bit of a tax rebate this year, so have got a some spare cas…

Looking at at the reviews for these video cards it almost seems like in every benchmark the cards go back and forth, dancing around each other. One map will run one card faster, another map will run the other one. One resolution shows a card faster, another resolution shows the other fast. It makes deciding which is the fastest card for upcoming FS2004 a very hard decision. Will it be 9800pro 256mb with the 8 pipeline card clocked at 380MHz or the 4 pipeline card clocked at 450MHz with a lot of bandwidth be the choice for FS COF. Both priced at $500 makes this a very hard decision to make. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??????????????????????????????????????????

Hello,Just to defined the context : "title barThe horizontal bar at the top of a window that contains the name of the window. On many windows, the title bar also contains the program icon, the Maximize, Minimize, and Close buttons, and the optional ? button for context-sensitive Help. To display a menu with commands such as Restore and Move, right-click the title bar.See also: maximize; minimize", this is definition used in Win XP. My system : Win XP Pro SP1 , GF4 TI 4600 (2 monitors)My problems : 1/ After some testing and manipulations in "NView" coming with tne Nvidia products, I have lost the "title bar" of the Task Manager window (ctrl+Alt+delete); the data is present…

My yoke seems to always slowly drift to the left, even though my trim wheel is centered; even when it is moved to the right it still rolls left. The only way to centre it is to keep it 3/4 of the way right, but then their is to much input needed to turn left, compared to right!Any idea's?Thanks,Kevin

Hi All,Just purchased this card from PNY technologies, I was wondering if any member has had problems with their system re-booting after approx 20 mins when running MSFS2002???.( only happens with MSFS)This has happened since i upgraded to this card from the MX440... never happened with the MX440!.I sent an error (auto generated ) report to MS.. they replied "most likely a hardware problem".???I am running with Soltek MB: P4 2.4Ghz: 500 MB Ram: Win XP home & of course the graphic card is the Verto GForce FX Ultra 5800 with 128Mb DDR II ram.Any help would be appreciated.Regards... Maybe someone has run across this problem before. I like using 4-speakers for my gaming(Half-Life TFC, Battlefield1942, FS2K2...etc). http://home.attbi.com/~magnetron/4speakers.jpgOn my previous(backup p4-2.4 p4b533mobo)system everything worked fine. But with my new system(XP2800+ A7N8X-D), every time I start FS2K2, my 4-speaker setting goes back to 2-speakers :-( and I do not see this behavior in my other games :-) Tried changing soundcard, videocard, drivers...etc but no luck. For those of you who've been hiding under a rock for the past several months, today is the day that Nvidia debuts a new GPU (specifically the NV35), and ATI releases a 256MB 9800 Pro to combat it. Reviews are up at www.anandtech.com as well as www.hardocp.com Both cards look very promising, and I've heard rumors that ATI has something special in the works to trump Nvidia once again (read: highly overclocked version of 256MB 9800 Pro). Looks like good times ahead!regards,Max Cowgill

Hello,I got a cheap offer for an ATI Radeon 7000 with 64 RAM so I installed it in my main system. By doing that I replaced the GeForce2 MX 32RAM. Then I installed the Catalyst 3.2 Drivers for ME and in FS2002 I got a low frame per second and a weird reflecting runway texture ! So do you think its a driver issue or the card itself even with its 64 Ram it does not equal the GeForce2? Or if the drivers are not the best, can you please suggest a driver version for this card to run well with FS?ThanksMichel

I have done everything I can think of, and still have problems with the 9700 Pro locking up after just a few minutes of FS2002. I have fast writes turned off, and have tried both the ATI and Omega Cat 3.1 and 3.2 drivers. I've also experimented with various configs.Even started with a clean format with XP. What else can I do here? The graphics generated by this card are outstanding....when it runs.I've already searched the archives here, but can't really find anything I haven't tried. Thanks, Mark9700 Pro (no OC) AGP 8XSoyo Dragon Ultra MB, latest BIOSVia Drivers Hyperion 4.46P4 2.81 Gig RAMSB LiveDX 9.0aWin XP Pro

Anyone using the Elite King Air B200 Throttle Quadrant with FS2002 (USB or serial version) as stand alone (without one of their panels)? If so, would love to hear your impressions as I am considering upgrading from my CH FlightSim Yolk throttles since I mostly fly the King Air 350 in FSand would like more precise control of the engines. Thanks.
