I have an nVidia-based mobo, AMD Athlon 1800+, 512 MB RAM, GeForce4 Ti 4200 video card. Windows XP Home edition. I have just finished my 4th fresh re-install of FS2002. I'm having system lock-up problems and I still don't know what is causing it but this other problem really has my ears buzzing (or whirring, like a propeller)...I load the default B-737 and take off. Using headphones, I can hear this clearly. In the forward view, it sounds like a jet. When I change the throttle, I hear the faint sounds of a propeller engine. If I switch to look RIGHT or LEFT, on one side, I hear the jet engine, and on the other side, I hear, very clearly, a propeller engine (in it's…

Hello gentlemen,I would appreciate your expertise as I am in the process of replacing my nvidia TI4400 geoforce 4 for a new graphic card.I heard a lot of contracditory comments on the issue and I would like to share your thoughts on this point, this is, in a simple way, rummours that I have heard so far from various gamers:-ATI 9700 PRO, outstanding performance but a lot of compatibility issues.-The Hercules version has better performance but more bugs than the HIS model.-TI4800, good, stable, but not reaching level of 9700 PRO.-TI5000* should be the one to look for and first one with 256mb memory, a new level in graphic.I have a P4, 1.8mhz and would like to know if enoug…

Now that I started work from this week, at $10/h and 18 hours a week,(which is very good for my age, usually work that is available for collegestudents around here will only pay you $7, 8 Max, I go to this work2 times a week from 9am to 6pm, then the other 3 days I go to college)I am wondering what kind of digital camera to get when I receive my 1st pay.Right now I have 640x480, no zoom, no screen, very cappy camerathat can't do any good job and I've been thinking of gettingnew digital camera for about 2.5 years now, so I think I waited long enough. ;)So far I've come up with 3 choices. (not in any order)1. for $250.2. [link:www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eC…

Hi Everyone....I just built my new computer (by myself) and everything went fairly good. I loaded my OS, did the updates, and loaded FS2002 in.When I took off, I went into spot view and then noticed stuttering, not sound, but video. The stuttering is; When I am flying in VC, Spot, or Tower view, the sim will not "pause" literally, but little pauses (stutters) every 3-5 seconds and is not very enjoyable. Also when I look around the cockpit if it has the VC for view points I notice this same stutter. If the aircraft I am flying, Such as 767 PIC, for example (which has 2D bitmaps for view points, btw.) it will not stutter when I look around. This happens in all areas of FS2002…

I posted this in the main MS forum, and I'll post it here also. Compusa has the Saitek X45 joystick/HOTAS setup on sale for a total of $49.99 USD. It is $79.99, but you get a 10 dollar instant savings at checkout, and then there is a 20 dollar mail-in rebate for a total savings of 30 dollars. That's a savings of 37% off of the normal price which is a good deal in my book.Just a little FYI.Tim13

Greetings all!I'll have my rig upgraded from its present ancient Celeron 1000; I'm considerng an Aopen AX4PE motherboard, a P4 2533Mhz processor, and 512 Mb Samsung DDR memory. Are there any reasons why I should be dissuaded from upgrading with these particular items? Thanks,Jaap Verduijn.

... since I reinstalled my Gravis Gamepad Pro! Although my MS Sidewinder joystick is recognized by FS2002 and works as before, my joystick no longer works with IL2 Forgotten Battles! IL2 identifies my gamepad but not my joystick... Is there a way to change, under WIndows XP Pro, the order of the controls under Game Controlers? I have the gamepad as my number one controller and the joystick as number two... I think this is the reason why IL2 FB no longer finds my joystick...Any help welcome. Thanks a lot!Hugo

Hi,Been thinking about getting one of them fancy 20 inch plus LCD monitors for FlightSim, like a Viewsonic VP230. Whilst researching to get smart, I discovered that, according to one article, that most video cards will not support DVI resolution above 1280X1024. I went to a couple of card sites, ATI, PNY, etc., and the data available was more than I could understand. Is there any info available as to what cards support the new high end monitors? Thanks for some help.Regards,Bob I... in sunny Florida

Hilol the older I get the more I forget!First dumb question:Why do I get max fps ie locked at 23 fps in a small window then 6 fps fullscreen; this must indicate something weirdSecond dumb question:I have just fitted a new 80 gig drive part. into two 4o gig drives. Can I move my current FS installation to 1 of the new drives then rename the new drive so that it becomes the same letter as the one I moved from? Will fs just work normally then? I use Win 2000 so I can rename using disk management tool.ThxSun

I know there have been other posts on this issue, but I'm teetering on the precipice of upgrading by self-build for the first time. So, is it P4 2.4 + Asus P4PE or Athlon 2400 + A7N8X. I get the impression that cooling is not such a problem with Intel and maybe a novice like me would have less problems and possibly end up with a quieter computer. Any input and advice gratefully received. Cost is a major factor.John
