Okay, apparently lack of hardware acceleration makes FS start in "safe mode" (software acceleration). But how does it make this decision? Is it also related to any card's video memory? Here's the situation, and it's not quite the usual one. Dell laptop, Windows 2000, 1GHz with ATI M4 chipset. FS runs great on it, but I wanted to try undocking the instrument panel to display on a second monitor. So I got a Margi Display-to-go 4MB PCMCIA (Cardbus, actually) video adapter. It works find, desktop extended, etc. Dxdiag says M4 working fine. BIOS set to use M4 as main display. Latest drivers. But! When I start FS, it complains of no acceleration and goes into safe mode. …

I installed a new Nividia GeForce 4 Ti4200 video card last week, and all seems to be running well. But, this morning, when I ran scandisk in DOS mode, the screen took on a broken look, as if scan lines were appearing only every other time. In other words, the blue background for scandisk broke down into alternating bands of blue and black, which made the letters illegible. But, the scan seemed to work ok and the computer performs fine in windows 98SE. I'm just a bit curious about the DOS problem. Is there one, or should I just chalk it up to my new vid card? Thanks.Sherm

Hi, As of late I seem to be having problem with graphics and I'd like to know if anyone could suggest good settings. I have:Sony trinitron 19" monitor40 GB512Windows MENvidia Geforce 3 with 64mbThis card gives you ability to go up to 8 x for ansiotrophy and anti-aliasing and if you want aggressive performance. I tried using the texture sharpening, but I see little black boxes when I use this so I turned that off. I notice that some of grahics have zig-zag in them. The buildings for instance have this problem. So I want more smoothness in them. Thank you, S.

I read in another post here that a good minimum point to start for a video card for FS might be a FX-5600 Ultra. I curently have a G3 Ti200 Pro, and although a FX 5600 Ultra isn't the best around, it sure must be better than what I have now.I've been on line and found this item:LEADTEK WINFAST 310 128MB FX-5600TDH MYVIVO 8XAGP DDR Does anyone know if this is an Ultra model of the FX5600? It appaers as though the "MX", "Ultra" and "Pro" suffixes nay not be on the GF models in the FX series? Thanks,Bruce.

I want to solicit the opinions of those that have put a lot of time & energy into tweaking FS2002 for some generalized sim & graphics settings. I have had great success with this on MS Train-Sim, and the guys over there helped me create a 'cheat sheet' for the optimal settings for that sim (very helpful when you have to do a re-install of the game).I'm looking for guys & gals with something similar to my system, and who are using RivaTuner. I have an idea of only about 60% of what the settings in that program do, and I don't want to go overboard with it. I just want to make sure I've got my in-game settings at the right level, and what RivaTuner might be able …

Hi all! :-wave I'm a newbie with computers, so I was hoping to get some advice from you guys. :D My Birthday is Thursday (the big 16) and I'm looking for a new video card. The current one I have... sucks... I mean its an Intel 82845G/GL Graphics Controller. I was thinking about the "ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 MB." I'm running an Intel P4 with 2.0 ghz and 512 MB DDRAM -- running Windows XP Home. What do you think about my choice? Or should I look into the GF4s and what not.Thanks!:-jumpy------------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA 395Travel Services Directorhttp://www.fly-twva.com-----------------------

Hi,At idle my P4 2.8 CPU shows about 42 degrees C. With FS2002 running this rises to 52 degrees. Is this too hot ? I've heard that the P4 starts to throttle back its speed as the temperature rises. Does anyone know at what temperature that occurs ?Thanks,Pesi

Hey guys. Ever since i have installed the 9700 AIW, i have been having problems with my system. On boot up, i get a lot of delayed write errors constantly. It kept corrupting files and forced me to run the chkdsk utility. Now for some reason, the dirty bit on my D and E drives will not reset and chkdsk runs on every boot. The delayed write errors are off and on, but now its happening a lot and its starting to affect the computer a lot, i.e the blue screens of death. Anyone know why this might be happening. I am using the Omega 3.4 drivers (the hacked version). Tonight i will install the clean omega 3.4 drivers to see if that is the problem, but with the amount of users ov…

I'm putting together my room right now, meaning I'm setting up two monitors on my 9800 Pro. Since I've purchased it, I put the GeForce 3 in the other computer and now have a spare GeForce 2. Can I put this in to my computer with the 9800 Pro and will it cause problems. What I'd like to do is have the 9800 run a full screen outside view, no gauges, the second output a full gauge screen (PSS Airbus) and then use the GeForce 2 to power the FMGC and throttles or overhead.Anyone know of any problems with running an ATI board and an Nvidia board at the same time?Lobaeux

Hi AllI asked the following question at comp-usa.I have an Asus P4PE which has a 4x AGP. Will the 9800 pro work and if so, how much would really be lost without an 8X AGP slot? He could not answer so decided to try you guys. Also is the 256mb version worth the price? Also, there are a number of manufacturers using the ATI chip. Any advice on a manufacturer?Talk to you soonBob G

Is there a significant performance difference between the AGP graphic cards and the PCI graphic cards? I noticed some of the new boards come in both configurations. Since I'm sure my AGP slot is only 4X could I get around that bottleneck with the PCI card?GW

I've had a Dell system for about a year and a half now, and am happily running along with FS2002 and a whole lot of add-ons and fairly good performance. Hi All,A while ago I have purchased some new hardware devices to upgrade my PIII 800. However, with the new configuration I still do not see a huge improvement of performance and I am convinced that I have made some mistakes during the setup. However, I do not have the time and knowledge to invest a lot in improving the system. I am looking for somebody in the Netherlands who would be able to help me out and have a look at my system and point me out to some improvements. My current configuration:Main PC:AMD 2100+512DDR 2700Asus A7N8X deLuxeAudigy SoundBlasterLeadtek GeForce 4 Ti4200 128Mb80Gb 7200rpm Maxtor 4Mb Cache19" Cornerstone MonitorWindows XP ProfessionalLatest Audi…

Does anybody know what the best drivers are for the Nvidia GeForce2 MX200 for FS2002? I have noticed that about a month ago when I ran FS2002 I would get a strange outline around things in the sim. When I use clouds they all have an outline around them. I have also noticed that this problem carries over to everything else on my computer. If I oipen a picture on my computer it gets the same ouline and some parts of the picture look washed out. It is for this reason that I know it is not a problem with FS2002. Im thinking it might be a driver issue. I have the 44.03 driver installed now. Thankyou for your help in advance.
