Hi, Have just installed a new computer with plenty of everything. This is the first time though that I am using windows xp. I was using windows me before. I installed fs09 into computer. Everything seems to be fine except that I can't get the water movement. When I place sliders on high, for some reason the slider reverts back to low. I installed Bill and Lynn Lyons water textures but I am getting nothing. Before I switched to new computer, I had no problem with using this in windows me. I have the Nvidia mx400 graphics card that came with the Sony Vaio desktop. It has 64 mg. Can someone please help? Thank you much, S.

I posed this question/theory on another board, but it has yet to get an answer - The short question is:Will a 256MB video card, versus a 128MB of the same type, perform better when it comes to blurry ground textures. :)My thought is yes, it would, due to the increased space allocated for textures. With more room, the texture could remain in video card memory for use in teh sim, thus improving the blurry-loading in of textures.I recently installed FSGenesis's US Landclass, and found my textures went from loading in snappy to dragging and blurring. This was probably due to the increased number of textures onscreen at any one time. I've tweaked and adjusted my fs9.cfg file t…

  3. All was running fine on my rig. No driver updates recently - say, for six months. All of a sudden, about every three to five minutes I am getting sound stuttering where it sticks on a word or noise and repeats it for a few seconds, then my computer freezes for about ten seconds. Then starts again happily. Within FS, an additional effect is redrawing of textures when the computer unfreezes. This is happening both inside and outside FS when FS is running i.e. while I am writing this, with FS running in the background, it is occuring. Not, however, when FS is closed. The usual advice of update this, update that, won't help. All has been well for some months, and this has…

I am fortunate to have the system noted in my signature for simming. It is stripped down to a bare minimum with only FS-Related and security items and a shared cable internet/network connection. It is networked via the network facility that comes with XP Home to another PC which has all the other applications I use plus a printer. When flying with significant clouds, I am getting 15-20ish frame rates but also a once-a-second stutter which I traced back to what I presume is network polling on my Sygate Personal Firewall. With that disabled, all is smooth.I know I can turn off the firewall manually - although I hate to be without it. I know I can use Ken Salter's application…

Hi All, Just got my new toy home and in the process of getting it setup for FS9. I've spent a couple of days tweaking and I'm still not satisfied with the display yet. Thought perhaps there might be someone out there who has the same card that might be willing to share his/her settings to help me get in the ballpark.Thanks,P4 3.0EASUS P4P800-SE1G PC32002x 80G SATA/Raid0ATI 9800 Pro 256MTTX 19" Flat MonitorSaitek X-45 Hotas

Below is a shot of my screen. I started geting these pink boxes a few days ago after updating the drivers for my 9800 AIW Pro to the Cat 4.6I first thought that the card might be getting too hot but even after I closed my rrom door and turned on the air conditioning, I still got the boxes whenever I did anything related to generating 3d models. On the regular screen (no 3d apps running), I get vertical bands of pinkish/purplish color. Also: Monitor: Samsung 172x Video Card: ATI RADEON 9800 AIW Prohttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/81443.jpg

Well, it took forever, but after at least 4 years of getting by with my venerable P3-450 (recently "upgraded" to a P3-550), I'm finally about to put together a brand new system. Before I place the order, I'm wondering what experiences (if any) people here have had with any of the following equipment for the currnt generation of flight simulators. Here's the system I am thinking of:CPU: AMD Athlon64 3000+ (socket 754)MB: MSI K8N Neo Platinum (socket 754, NForce 3-250Gb chipset)Case: Antec Sonata (w/TruePower 380 PSU, if I understand correctly)Video: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB DDR 8X AGPHD: Samsung SP1614C 160GB, SATA, 8MB buffer, 7200rpmDVD burner: Pioneer DVR-107BK 8x8 DVD…

I am not really sure I am getting the best performance out of my GForce FX 5200 (256MB) at the moment...I remember it was better in the past.Right now I'm using the 60.72 Forceware drivers. Is there any general opinion on the drivers for this card? Are some of the older ones perhaps better for FS2004 than the shiny new ones (won't be the first time)?Anyone got particularly good experiences with a certain driverset?Just trying to mess around a bit with the drivers, and looking for some advice so perhaps I don't have to poke into all holes to see where the easter egg is hidden. :)

OK, since I skimped on my new video card buying a 9800Pro instead of an X800Pro, I want to do something about my RDRam. I currently have four sticks of 128mbPC1066 running with my Intel D850EMV2 mobo and want to get a gig. Not interested in changing out the mobo at this time. I'm finding that the 512mb is no longer enough since I added Norton virus Scanner, Word, The Works, Quickbooks and a couple other office programs, and was barely sufficient before adding this stuff. Adding work software really takes a toll on resources.Since the PC1066 Ram is very difficult to find and 20% to 30% more than PC800 Ram (which seems very available yet), anybody got any opinions on ac…

Guys: For those of ya'll who remember that a couple of weeks ago, I had to switch out my mobo because it overheated and died. I had a difficult time getting FS to work decenty on the new ASUS mobo. I ended up deleting the .cfg file and restarting FS9 and got pretty decent frame rates with the new board. But then another problem started cropping up. It turned out the graphic card is also bad. It was a nvidia FX5200 Ultra or something like that. :) I still had an old nvidia MX400 64mb graphic card and FS9 runs....however slowly. When I upgraded the mobo, I had to also upgrade the memory. Since my SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) put me on a strict budget, I had to scimp…

I have the following:HP Pavilion 511W 1.2ghz 256mb (I upgraded) Windows XP home, and I use Flight Sim 02 Professional.Short of buying another computer, I don't know what kind of video graphics card/3d accelerator to buy. I know I have one, but honestly can't find out which one I have. It came with the system, which is about 2 years old. I already bought some additional memory, which sped things up a bit in FS, but I want more. What's going to be compatible with FS02, XP, and the mothe…

I have just discovered that I can no longer pan left/right when in VC veiw and AFAIK I have not changed any settings.I use a Saitek X36 combo and HAT 1 is set by defaut for pan view in FS. In Control Assignments View (pan) is set to the HAT switch and the repeat slider is fully right.Oddly I can pan up and down and in 2D view I can switch to look sideways. In spot view I can pan round using HAT 1 without a problem. The only reason I discovered this was because I have just installed MAMM's DC-3 and could not pan in it's VC so tried in my other add-on aircraft and the default ones and could not pan left/right in those either.Anyone offer any advice please?TIA

Hello,I ordered the CH Yoke and Pedals USB last saturday. They should arrive within 5 days. I would like to ask over from current users that after getting the package, did you feel like you expected something more or was it just as you wished? How do the pedals feel and do you like the proportional braking? Basically, how much more realistic it makes FS, lets say the 737-800 and Kingair 200, than flying them with a joystick?
