This is a nice card. My main two PC pastimes are FS9 and TW04. I can't believe how nice this card is for stability, image quality, adjustability, and performance. I had very decent perf with my 9700 Pro, and it was like pulling teeth to go back to nVidia after all these years with Radeon cards. But I can tell you 100% this thing is an excellent piece of hardware, is exceedly stable and really looks sweet, IQ wise that is. I bought the BFG GT OC from and I am finally at 4xAA, 16xAF, all sliders, and I mean ALL sliders maxed, default clouds, and we are smooth sailing in all conditions so far. We are running ActiveCamera, ActiveSky w/ 7 cloud layers, FDC, and some PMDG…

I want to build my own conputer and was looking at these two chips.1. Intel Pentium 4 540 3.2Ghz / 1MB Cache / 800 FSB / Socket 775 / HyperThreading / Processor = Price: $319.99 vs2. Pentium 4 3.4G EXTREME Hyper Threading = Price: $1049.99 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...=CP2-P4-3400EECThe difference apart from that extra .2 G is the EXTREME version.Have any of you used this "EXTREME" version? and if so..is it worth the difference of that $700 bucks for the "EXTREME" performance for Flight Sim?

Hi,I recently received a new toshiba laptop, but have been having some difficulty. I have a high speed connection, when I boot the pc with the cable from the modem plugged in, the tcp/ip configurations appear on the screen as it boots, but then it just freezes before even loading windows. However, if I plug in the cable after windows is loaded, then it works fine. Does anyone have any ideas? I am at a complete loss. Thanks!Andre

Hey Guys,So I finally figured out the problem I was having with my nVidia Ti4200 64MB video card. As it turns out (as I later learned when my screen started randomly dying), the video card had gone bad on me. So, thanks to the folks at PNY, I'm back up and running again, ready to give this a second shot. Now I'm encountering a new, consistent problem whenever I try to look at the shiny planes. In cockpit view, I'm getting decent performance (see full specs below) even with payware add-ons...though I'm finding that night flying is the best ;). However, if ever I try to switch to spot view to look at the lovely bird, not only do my framerates drop off the scale (FS becom…

Hey,I am planning to buy a new video card to efficiently run flight simulator 2004. What cars do you guys have and what do you recommend on buying? I was looking at the the least the Radeon 9600 XT 256 mb or the Radeon 9800 Pro 128. Now I know that 256 is better than 128, but the Radeon 9800 is a better card. So will the performance be better with the 9800 Pro than the 9600 XT? Im confused on what to get. Also please post some pics that you took in fs with your cards so I can see what it looks like.ThanksBWIA330

I am having trouble with my rudder pedals with regards to breaking. The toe breaks, with the slightest movement engage the brakes, and even sometimes when I dont even have my foot on the pedals, they engage the breaks.I have downloaded the CH Control Manager to help fix the problem. I have been unsuccesful. Either I dont know how to work the program, or it is something else, I have no clue.Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Jake

I have just installed a new video card(GeForce FX 5200 AGP 128 mb DDR with driver 5304)(I know, could have done better, but all I can afford at the time). What DRIVER have you guys and gals found that works best with this type of card and FS2004? Running on an ASUS A7V8X board, 512 mb, Athlon 2400+, 266 FSB. Thanks for your thoughts.GLB

Hi guys, looking for the best registry cleaner around. Something without spyware of course, if it's free would be better but nowadays good things usually doesn't come free, a trial period is a must though.I've read about some that even defrag and/or compress the registry, is ok to do that? With so many utilies to choose from I would like to hear your experiences with such programs. Thanks in advance,Carlos.

Anyone seen this problem?I've got a new PC with Winfast A360 FX5700LE card, AMD 3200+, Asrock K7S8XE mobo. OS is WinXP Pro SP2 RC.In FS2002 and 2004 objects within the sim rapidly flash on and off and/or their dimensions become distorted. This happens to runways, taxiways, parts of aircraft and buildings - and mountains become transparant from a distance.Other aspects of the sim (menus etc) look OK as does every other program I've tried.I've tried the usual stuff like the latest graphics drivers plus some older verions. I've fiddled with all the display settings in both versions of the sim and also the graphic driver settings. I've also dropped the AGP from X8 to X4 but n…

I'm currently on Omega 5303. Tried to install Omega 5672. Uninstalled from add/remove,restarted in safe mode and tried to run the Omega ver. of driver cleaner. Got an error "this is only for Omega drivers" and it would'nt run. Ran normal driver cleaner, restarted and installed the 5672. Everything works fine, except fs9 ( I deleted the fs9.cfg to let it rebuild) I get the error---AppName fs9.exe--AppVer 9.0.0 30612--ModName.Panels.dll--ModVer.9.0.0 30612--Offset.003fed0. Tried the 6172's with the same result. Went back to the 5303'S and fs9 fired straight up. Can't understand why the Omega ver. of driver cleaner acts like I don't have Omega's installed. Also can't understa…

Hello,I thought I would post a message on how my experience was with installing SB Audigy 2 card was. I bought an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum yesterday. After staying until 2:00 am to install (and getting yelled at by my wife for going over the midnight mark), I can honestly say that the new sound card was a definite improvement over my ancient Live card. The quality of the audio is better as well. The installation of the driver could have been better because I had to try 2 times but this could be something wrong on my end so I can

Sorry if this post is quite long.I have had this problem with fs9 rebooting the system for 1 month now. I have tried everything that I can think of to solve it but to no avail. The computer simply reboots itself out of the blue sometimes. It seems to be happening especially when flying the PSS A3xx and PMDG737NG and the following actions are performed:- calling a menu item (pressing Alt)- returning to virtual cockpit when leaving the menu- calling FSnav by pressing F9- right-clicking the mouse over an empty area (i.e. not over buttons or dials on the panel). This happens a lot when flying in VC-view!The above list is not cummulative or complete. Either one of the listed a…

Finally decided to update my drivers from year-old Dell with ATI9800 card with original drivers (Ver.6.14.10.6414). However, everything I try (Latest Catalyst and DNA drivers) are MUCH worse than old drivers - in particular, ground textures a few miles ahead are very blurry. I know these new drivers should be better, but they are not. I use Driver Cleaner 3 to remove old driver files and haven't tried the Omega drivers. Can anyone suggest what (simple) step I am missing?

I noticed in the readme for the drivers, it says display corruption was fixed on certain aircraft in FS2004. Has anybody who installed these yet found any "fixed" problems? How about the mouse in the selection screen? Does it still fall behind the spinning aircraft model? Would you recommend upgrading to them?

Hi - Usually I'd ask in the hardware forum but answers seem to come very slowly there...Anyway, I currently am running a Dell Dimension XPS T500 (PIII 500) which has been upgraded to a 1.2Ghz processor, 384 ram, and the vid card is a Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32.Basically, I'd like to upgrade the ram and video card; I know how to do the ram, but I need suggestions for a video card which will run 2k2 better and also allow me to run 2k4 reasonably well.Honestly I'm not even sure what type of card I can use in that thing.. AGP? I dunno.I haven't looked at cards in a long time so I'm pretty out of step with them.Any advice appreciated!CheersAndrew

Hi all.I have a P4 2.4Mhz with 512Mb RAM (4 128Mb modules) and a GeForce 4600Ti. In the last days I have been thinking about doing an upgrade on it, buying more RAM and a new video card. Regarding to the video card issue I think the decision is easy, I would get a Radeon 9800 Pro at a bargain price, but the problem is the RAM.My system uses RAMBUS, which is veeeery expensive. To get my system to 1Gb (what I want) I must get 2 512Mb modules, and that will cost me around $500. So, the complete upgrade should cost about $750, and that puts me in a decision if I should get a complete new system or not. Sure, I can get 512Mb more for about $270 (2 256Mb modules), but the R…

OK I had enough of the ATI Radeon 9800 series. I've purchased a 9800SE and a 9800 Pro only to RMA them the next day. Reason being is in all flight sims I play on my PC with the exception of Lomac the 9800 cards are slower than my Nvidia Ti-4200. Now for a card that is 4-7 times faster in certain games I certainly expected more for $200. With almost every detail maxed except for a/c reflections no a/c or ground shadows, max cloud draw distance 40 miles, 3d clouds 100% and water set to low and with ultimate traffic @ 100% my machine can get 23 fps looking down the runway at KSEA, fair weather theme. This is with 4x AA and 8x AF. After taking off and panning over to the ram…
