I am often traveling with my laptop on which I have FS9 installed, but I can't do any flying because my Sidewinder FF joystick is simply too large to be taken on a trip. Thus, I was wondering whether there is something like a "portable joystick, i.e. something foldable or whatever, which does not take too much space and which I could take on a trip? I don't need more than axis control and a throttle, I don't care that much about buttons for all the other functions which I usually control over ny keyboard anyway.Cheers for any hints

Hi all.I'm wondering what will do me most good (and get me som FPS over 15 - I would love 25-45):1. A new CPU fx P4 3,2ghz, 800mhz bus, 512kb L2 (installed at the moment: P4 2,8ghz, 533mhz bus, 51kb L2)OR2. New graphic card fx. new ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256mb(installed at the moment: ATI 9700 Pro 128mb)Anyone got any inputs? As stated above my FPS is around 15fps and down to single digits in or around airports (landing and starting). And it sometimes feels very stuttering. I have done the xml-file tweaking as proposed in other Avsim forums. Ohh, and I have 1024mb of pc400 meamory.Cheers, Mads

Hi There,I am upgrading (via Powerleap) to a P4 2.8 GHz Processor. I'll be installing Win XP also. As I already have 512MB RAM, is another 512MB really necessary? (It has been reccomended as XP is RAM hungry)As you can see by my sig, I mostly fly the PMDG 737 which is very CPU / RAM hungry. I look forward to any advise and responses.Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."

I have Omega drivers already installed. I understand that something that Omega offers above the stock drivers is a good uninstall routine. Can anyone help with the preferred method of replacing (un-installing the re-installing) older Omega drivers with newer ones? Win XP, 9800 ATI card.Thanks,Bruce.

I have an ATI 9800 Pro right now and the thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't antialise alpha textures and this shows up in textures of many of my aircraft, even at 6x FSAA, smooth edges but jagged textures. Does the 6800 Ultra antialise alpha textures?

I have been struggling with my CH Products Pedals. The problem is that with the Pedals centered, I look at FSUIPCs Joystick Tab under Rudder with feet off dead center I am getting values of 490 on the in and out. This is causing some slight careening when taxing. When looking at this setting if I apply slight right rudder, both numbers will fall back to zero.I am starting to lean towards it being a hardware problem with the pedals, but I would like to know if anyone else has faced this problem. And can it be corrected via calibration? Or maybe via FSUIPCs Joystick (need to know how.) I have installed and uninstalled the drivers several times, and the problem still ex…

HiI just completed a cockpit project for a university. For the FS part a 3.0Ghz is running the show. Fitted with the ATI Radeon 9800XT 256mb (personally I use NVIDIA, but I am not religious) and 1GB of ram. This is all great, all sliders are at max, and I get 28+ FPS.BUT the anisotropic filter seems not present, even though both FSAA and AF sliders are set to max in the ATI control panel. It looks like cr*p !!Now, don't get me wrong but when I slide the FSAA and AF to the max with the FX5950 the shivering dissapears completely, but the Radeon just flickers, shivers etc. all over the place. Especially in areas with many trees (Georender and so on).I am using the lates drive…

Hi All,I'm about to buy a new system unit to go with my 19," .24-.25AG0 P992 FD Trinitron monitor and Harmon Kardon HK-395 speakers with subwoofer. In addition to running FS2004 I'll be doing the usual grunt stuff, all under XP Home Edition. The existing system unit contains a 2.2 GHz pentium 4, 1GB RAM, an 80GB 7200 RPM hard drive,a 64MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 graphics card with DVI and an SB Live! 1024 Digital Sound card.I'm happy with the sound I'm getting, and (maybe I'm ignorant) even with the visuals I get in FS2004, although system performance leaves a great deal to be desired, perhaps for reasons not germaine here.FS2004 will be my most demanding application: …

I found this while browsing around Guru3D looking for some drivers for my new Gigabyte 5950 Ultra GT. It is an article about ED glasses, but more importantly the stereo drivers needed to run them. I used to have ED glasses, but my last card was a 9700pro so I never made use of them. I vaguely remember having to match up the stereo drivers that Nvidia offers with the Dets for smooth operation. According to this article at Guru3D, no seperate stereo drivers are needed, they are included with every new Det. release. You only need a control panel to manipulate the settings. I thought this was interesting since the stereo "drivers" that Nvidia puts out always lags the Det's by…

Hi folks. I had a motherboard failure (overheated) and had to replace it. I managed to save the CPU and all the other stuff. I did not reformat and reinstall Windows XP, but ever since I got this turkey back up and running, FS9's performance has been cut by 80%. Here is what I had and now have:I had a Shuttle Integrated Mobo, but replaced with an Asus P4V8X-X with a P4 2.0 Gig CPU. I put a 512 DDR stick in and have a Nvidia Geforce 5700 Ultra 128 DDR which I carried over. Before, I was running FS9 at 15-17 fps on the ground and was maxing out at 50fps at cruising. The sliders were halfway all around. This is with FSMeteo running as well as all the Vatsim stuff runnin…

Hi,My system: P4 2.8ghz, 1gb ram DDR400, radeon 9800pro 128mbFS runs smooth, default Seattle is about 50fps (autogen off), AA 4x, AF 8x, but when lots of scenery is loaded or even panning in default 777 virtual cockpit (front view), I see fast lockups and then graphics is "released" and smoother again. It is worst if I turn water details at MAX, looks like it is something with textures performance, any idea ?Thanks,Ulisses

Hi, Turned on Flight sim.09 and could not get joystick to function. I check to enable it, but can't. I un-install to re-install but I keep getting message " sidewinder needs usb port in order to install". I never had this problem before. I did not remove anything related to usb ports or anything. I am using sidewinder 2 from microsoft and using windows me. My computer is sony vaio and I have plenty of resources. I check but I don't see anything related to usb ports. I don't know what has happened. Also my Lexmark printer is having communicaion problems and won't print. Does anyone know what problem could be? Thank you much, S.
