I have an ATI 8500DV card and I have been running FS9 an the original driver. It's a hit an miss with the performance. I tried to update the driver on several occasions, and every time I tried to install the new driver (following the ATI'S instructions word for word), my system FREEZES. I even tried to install in SAFE mode to no avail.Anybody with an ATI card had problem in installing new drivers and eventually succeeded?Would appreciate any help.Thanks.Abe

Hi,Here's a new tip for those that do not use FSAutoStart(I assume it shuts down Terminal Services). Or you might want to do this even if you use FSAutoStart. ;) If you don't know whether or not you need Terminal Services, chances are extremely high that you don't need it. Sometimes when I try to access and look at screenshots, or attached images, my system does not display the image and all I get is the little box with a red x in it. This is relatively rare, but does occasionally happen. I have the latest Java download. In my window tool options, I have gone to tools>folder options>view and checked "Remember each folder's view settings". Some time back if I remember correctly, this had pretty much of a permanent effect.In the window options for the view, the default selection for looking at folders is "Icons". The choices are Thumbnails, tiles, Icons, List and Details. I have checked "List". Again, in the distant past, this view setting was remembered for some time if I remember correctly.For some reason now, my view shortly defaults back to the "Icon" view. After shutting down my computer, at some unknown time it restarts by itself. Unfortunately, I really don't know when this action originated as in the past, I have usually left it running continually 7/24. I have discovered that at some unknown time, it restarts by itself if I shut it down. Occasionally, when I try to do a cold shutdown, she restarts then as well as though I had clicked restart rather than shutdown. I have checked everything from driver to... but the problem is still coming back. Usually after i have been flying for 15-20 min. One funny thing is that the sound is still coming out from the speakers. But it seems that it is to much for the computer/screen. I use default settings only!What could be wrong?

I plugged my CH pedals with a gamepad to the gameport port in my soundcard, and i see only 18 values per one axis in the raw data during calibration. So when i move one of the pedals forward, iget only 8 situations of the axis condition, which is very annoying.Can someone help me solve this problem?I tried to connect the pedals also with another gameport device, and there was the same problem.

Well, my homebuilt system has reached the point of frustrating me to the point of wanting to sell it on eBay and move on! HI all,I just purchased the Nvidia Geforce 5700LE thinking it would elevate the performance of my flightsim to new levels. When I installed it i got about 3-4 more FPS than with my previous Gforce 2x. My specs are 512DDR AMD Athlon 2200+ 80GB drive. Any help would be appreciated. Also i have most all the sliders all the way down.

Currently I have two 21" monitors (NEC P1150's) on my system, but they're getting dated, have a fairly high dot pitch, and are starting to get a little blurry. I believe I'm going to sell them on eBay and use the money to buy one really good 21"/22" monitor. Every time a new driver comes out, some wally gets in this forum and says that his frame rates have greatly improved. Yeah, right, thinks I, moving on.But now I'm the wally. I've just upgraded my dinosaur from 52.16 to 56.72 and I'm getting double the FPS. Yes, double. No other changes to settings, just the new driver.Should I open the box or take the money?Anyway, am I the only one? The pal who pointed me in the direction of this new driver says no, as he claims to have tripled his own FPS ... but I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.Meanwhile .... I compressed my FS9 folder a few weeks back a have since added scenery, aircraft, gauges, and sounds. Do I have to compress these add-ons before I place them in FS9, or will it automatically compress them when I place them in the FS9 folder?Thanks Regan
