Hi All.I just thought I'd give you some information and a bit of news on what I've done, and the differences it's clearly made to my system, you can see from my signature that I have IMHO a pretty good and very stable system, however I had read and heard about the amount of people going in for Water Cooling and wondered what all the hype was about, remembering here that our cars,or automobiles for the American fraternity, are of course cooled this way, well, I can report some fantastic findings and temperatures that are absolutely astounding, I am of course in the UK so these will be different from the ''higher climate'' countries, well here in the UK we pretty much get po…

Hi,yesterday I did a purchase well worth the money. I have a Sapphire Radeon 9800pro and installed an Artic Cooling Silencer V3 kit. This kit looks like on the Nvidia5900 series and blows out hot air through a slot on the PC's backside - it will block the first PCI slot this way. Installation was not very tricky and explained in detail. But,my machine is REALLY QUIET now... next to it there's an old Compaq P2 with passive-only cooling (acting as PDC), and well, the old 5400rpm HD is much louder than my whole other rig (Athlon, 3 HDD's, Radeon). I have to verify the monitor or control LED's to see if it's running.Well worth the 20 Eurobucks I spent. For legal purposes, insta…

I had no problems until a week or 2 ago. However, I now have only intermitent sound in FS; sometimes it's OK for 5/10 minutes, sometimes it even starts up silent. I've checked over and again and the issue is not aircraft, position or event related. Without warning, all FS sound is gone and like the sound itself, sometimes the silence lasts for up to a minute, sometimes its 10 minutes - then it comes back. All other sound like system sounds event, media like CD/music works with no problem whatsoever and I've run Dxdiag and that finds no problems either.Last night I got the latest driver for the onboard sound from C-Media and that made no difference.I'd like to avoid gett…

Good afternoon gentlemen,I come up with a question.Since a couple of days, I have fs9 crashing all the times at the same place. Normaly it happens when flying online, and in this case, I have the firewall and all disconected to avoid problem with Vatsim. Neverthelmess i just made a test, of line, and this time, my fire wall came up with programm modified, indicating DXDIAG.EXE, then FS9 crashed using a PANELS.DLL reason, last time it was weather.dll, and yesterday simmap.dll.normaly seasonal crash would lead directly to desktop with out asking do you want to send the report to Microsoft. So if some one could give his thought about this, it would help a lot.I have DX9.0C in…

I am running a Dell 400SC with the Intel 3.2ghz chip. I installed an ATI Radeon 9600 pro some time ago but have been having a consistent problem trying to use the updated drivers from ATI. The last one That I found that I could use is version 3.7. Whenever I try to update and go to a new driver I get a blank screen when trying to install and then have a devil of a time getting back to 3.7 which does work. Monitor is a Dell 18" ultrasharp (running DVI). I would really like to use the newer drivers for better performance but am gunshy trying them with all of the problems. Any [email protected]

I was wondering if anyone is currently using a flat screen monitor for flying and if the "latency" is an issue or has that problem been nullified by advancing technology?I was reading the article below but it is not dated (at least no where I could see)...so not sure if they make the flat screen refresh rates "faster" these days where it isn't noticible while flying?http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/iss...gs_to_know.mspxThanks for anyone who can answer! I am very interested in upgrading to the flat screens because they are so much clearer/brighter.

I have a question for anyone that has tried or seen multiple video cards perform with FS9. Could you rank the video cards that you have seen from best to worst in regards to a combination of the quality of visuals and performance? You can go any where and see comparisons for other games but I'd like to know what you all think about them in FS9. Please do not go with anything older than perhaps a TI4400. I am currently running a TI4600, I used to switch cards fairly often but lately I have been too busy so have lost track. Any replies would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

...what do you think the going rate would be?! I'm actually not interested in eBay'ing it - I'd be more interested in "direct selling" it to a Flight Sim fan who is in need of a better card.(BTW - I have everything that came with the ATI-branded card except for the original box. All adaptors, cables, docs, etc. is there. That, and the card is in excellent condition - it was airdusted often during it's life in my cpu)Any thoughts?-Greg

I am a newcomer to FS and this forum. I have a CH Flight Sim Yoke USB.With it I am unable to get a 737 off the ground although once it did go up "accidentally." There is no documentation or help guide with it.There are two levers to the right of the throttle. What are they for? When I touched them with the 737 loaded the idle numbers went haywire or the engine stalled. How do you use them and why? What is that round protruding button on the far left?Any suggestions on configuration?? It does work with the Cessna but it seems to be developing issues.Any advice and especially hands on walk through will be deeply appreciated. Even by phone. I'll be happy to call at your conve…

What would you recommend I upgrade? I'm not REAL happy with the perofromance of FS9 especially with the PMDG 737. I am torn however. I'm wondering if it is even worth it to upgrade now, or if I should wait for FS2006 to do any upgrading. What do you guys think? Anyway, here are my current specs...Athlon XP 3000+ 333FSB1024 GB DDR RAM (1 is 3200RPM, 1 is 2700 RPM)40 GB Western Digital 7200 RPM HDSoundblaster Audigy X GamerGeForce 4 Ti4400 w/ 128 MB DDR RAMI've been feeling very uneasy lately because my CPU is running hotter than it should be...56C-that's with very few programs running. So, I'm kinda leaning that way, but I've only had it about a year. Anyway, what s…

Hi chaps,For the last week or so my sound in FS keeps cutting out completely, before asking for help though, I see a lot of people include detailed PC specs in the signature. Being of the non to bright group of PC users, is there something I can use that will generate that kind of list of components etc?I figured before asking fro help, I'd be useful to list what my PC has in it.Cheers.http://www.blandreynolds.btinternet.co.uk/DF_PG_sm.gif

I have a new system on the way which has two SATA drives and a RAID controller. This is a new area for me and whilst I understand what RAID is I was wondering if FS9 has any preferences for how the discs are configured? I did do a search, so appologies if I have missed a previous thread. Thanks in advance.Grum

Don't know if this will happen to everyone, but..I put in DX9c yesterday, and today saw that nVidia has a new driver out (July 27th, 61.77)..so naturally I got it (fx5600, XP). It refused to work with DX9c at all so I got a screen full of assorted pixels, and zlitch on the DX trouble shooter. Grr. So, put back in my older 59.XX driver and it all works fine.

Hi everyone,My hard drive (Seagate Barracuda IV 80gb 7200rpm ATA/100) is going kaput as we speak and will not load windows currently. So, I decided that I am finished with that drive and I'm in the market for a new one. I noticed that those SATA 10,000rpm hard drives are not TOO expensive and from what I read, their load performance is excellent compared to a 7200rpm. My question is can my system support it? My current IDE is, like I said, an Ultra ATA 100 where as the 10K drives are Serial ATA 150. I've seen that 133 is backwards compatible, but could anyone tell me if the 150 is too? I don't know what my motherboard is (don't know where too look) but my system is …
