Hello fellow simmers, well today is the day that I have decided to upgrade from a 17" to a 19" monitor. I've had my 17" ViewSonic monitor for about 5 years now and I still love it, been a great piece of hardware but it's now time to upgrade. So after doing some looking around (BestBuy, CompUSA) a 19" ViewSonic CRT is about $249 whereas a 19" ViewSonic LCD is $399. This is where I need your help on trying to decide if to take the plunge and go with LCD.I can see the advantages of an LCD, but I was wondering how it performs when it comes to FS9.Your input is greatly appreciated.ThanksCarlos

Lets say that I wanted to fly a biz jet (Eaglesoft Beechjet 400a) with my CH Flight Flight Yoke USB, (with the 3 levers). I also have FSUIPC (registered). I'd like to be able to control each throttle independantly of the other and and have thrust reverse on the same axis. Basically, I want a lever for each engine throttle, but when I pull it all the way back, the reversers engage. Is that possible? I've messed with trying to get it to work and couldn't. Does anyone have any detailed steps on how to do it?ThanksDondo

The added GB is a definite keeper in my case, for both FS & GigaStudio. Everything just is a little slicker, and that is a for sure I am happy to say. Frame rate is unaffected, but there is better reloading of different views, overall smoother and more responsive operation. I was very pleasantly surprised to find Giga will now run at 24bit 96K with a DMA buffer of 128 which is unheard of with 1GB in this machine. I was fooled into believing since there was maybe 200mb of free physical ram previously that there would be no appreciable difference in Giga, however this is clearly not the case, as all popping and crackling is now gone at those high def settings. I us…

Just wondering if anybody had any possible fixes for a problem I've seen some people reference on here before. I have a Geforce 6600GT (128 MB 8x AGP) with an Asus A7N8X-E motherboard, and I cannot run ANY hardware anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering at all in FS2004. If I do, the following happens after 2-3 minutes of flying:- Any attempt to bring up a pop-up window (like the GPS) will cause an image of the screen from a few minutes before to flicker up for a split-second.- Likewise, if I move the cursor over an instrument or over the taskbar (I run 1280x960x32 windowed) there will be a momentary flash of a several-minute-old screen image. Sometimes it covers the e…

Folks,I need to make a somewhat expensive decision and to help me make it I thought I would solicit opinion from curent PFC Cirrus yoke users. I currently have a CH yoke that I have given up on in frustration. Sticking and binding along the elevator axis makes precise one handed operation impossible and no amount of lubing can fix that or the slop between shaft and bushing.I need something better. I understand the Cirrus yoke is all metal construction, but is it smooth and precise? I can't afford to drop $500 on a "heavy box" version of the CH with a throttle shaft on the front, powder-coated or not. Also, can any Cirrus user please explain what is meant by the "electric…

I have a old 17" CRT (at 1024*768) and the PMDG 737NG 800/900. When I pop up the radiopanel for example I can barely read the numbers for the ADF radios. Now two very plain questions for PMDG 737NG 800/9001) Can you clearly and without problem read these numbers?2) What monitor are you using and what resolution do you use?Answers to these questions would be helpful to me when deciding if and what new monitor to buy.I hear contradictory rumors. Some says a CRT has a more clear and distinct image others says this about TFT.

Hello everyone,I recently got into FS2004 and so I'm motivated to replace my current machine. It's an eMachines AthonXP 2400 2.0 GHz PATA based system with an ATI 9600XT. It scores 3800 on 3DMark03.Now... I like eMachines. The above system has served me well for nearly two years. It runs FS2004 pretty well I guess, but it's not enough. So...I could by another eMachine; a T6410 AMD Athlon

I went ahead and installed a 2nd GB of DDR in my rig, primarily because I was down to 70-100mb of free physical RAM at the end of a fairly short flight in the lovely PMDG 747-400. I had not received the out of mem error, but even so, I figure I am keeping this 2y old machine a while longer as it works very well and has nice parts. In any case, I learned some things today doing some creative testing with the very potent Performance monitoring console in Windows (2K Pro in my case).I set up the console to show a couple of things of interest to me:1. Free Physical Memory2. Disk Write Bytes/Sec (I have 3 HDD, and I have OS on C:, FS9 on D:, and page file on E:) The count…

Hi!I formatted my HDD-drive and reinstalled my FS9 and now get jerky movements (both sound and aircraft movements, AI-traffic, etc.)I checked my install, checked my soundcard drivers, Videocard drivers, etc, and they all seem OK.AI-planes stop jerkily and kick dust from the intermittent pauses/jerks, the ATC voices stutter sometimes. So, what did I do wrong this time?Anything to do with modules, gauges, bgl's, textures, or what?Grateful for any help. Thanks!Hans HermanssonSWEDEN

... and also use Intel CPU's.Gonna upgrade to a P4 3.4 Prescott. I understand that certain models are better at overclocking than others, I believe it's called "stepping"Now from what I read you can get them in flavors of E0, C0, or D0.1. - What model is the best for OC (just in case I want to)2. - What is the text on the CPU box that describes it? I know it doesn't literally say "E0" but something like SL7PN which would mean a E0. Where is that found on the label?3. - And what markings on the label should I be on the lookout for the this particular cpu.Thanks...

I had a wierd experience last night - where my FS drive which was designated M: suddenly changed designation to E: I went into computer management and tried to go to disk management to change the drive designation but that didn't work. I keep getting a message that "the RPC remote connection could not be established" Is there anyother way to change a drive letter? Thanks for any help!!

Hi, ive been playing FS for a few years ago starting with 98, then just getting FS04 last year, and I used to have a joystick, but, due to my chewing problem, i kinda broke it. I was wondering if there was a way to use my mouse as a joystick/yolk for flying. Thanks

Im about to upgrade my pc and was wondering if SLI would be worth it.Im currently running Asus mono, XP 3200, 1gig Dual channel, 9700pro, thinking of upgrading mobo (Asus SLI nFore4 Deluxe) and cpu (AMD64) keeping the 1gig dual channel. The question here is, Is SLI worth it, because I'm also replacing my video card, I've always been a ATI fan, but was thinking of purchasing Gforce 6600GT dual pack so I can take advantage of SLI. This option would cost me almost $400 smacs, the other video option would be ATI's x800XT currently at $320. I prefer ATI, but if nVidia's solution makes a big difference, I will go that route.About 90% of the time I spend in gaming is on FS2004, …

Hi,I'm looking at upgrading my Athlon XP 1700+ system for less than $150. In looking around I've decided on a Thoroughbred 2.083 2600+ and an A7N8X looks like my best deal (other suggestions are welcome) (my old MB only takes up to Palomino 2100+).So here's my question: I'm wondering what the difference is between each of the different models of the A7N8X, -E, -X, -VM/400. The Asus website isn't much help. Is there any real difference? as long as A7N8X is above V2?Thanks,Thomas

I need to buy a new computer & am very surprised to see that an Athlon X2 3800 is about the same price as an Athlon 3700 - 4000 single core processor. As I don't really know how AMD calculate the "equivalent" ratings I would appreciate a little help with interpretation. In FS2004 will the X2 3800 or 4000 number be a real reflection of the relative speed or does the X2 3800 rating assume some benefit from the dual core that I know in the current version of FS I will not get?My experience of processors is that if the equivalent ratings are real with FS2004 I would not be able to see any difference between 3800 & 4000. As all processors will apparantly be dual core ve…

hello,I did find this on : http://www.tweaksrus.comWindows Prefetcher[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Session Manager Memory Management PrefetchParameters]Under this key there is a setting called EnablePrefetcher, the default setting of which is 3. Increasing this number to 5 gives the prefetcher system more system resources to prefetch application data for faster load times. Depending on the number of boot processes you run on your computer, you may get benefits from settings up to 9. However, I do not have any substantive research data on settings above 5 so I cannot verify the benefits of a higher setting. This setting also may effect the load…

Does anyone else get this problem. At certain airports,KJFK and EDDF come to mind when ATC hands you off to ground after landing FS crashes just after you respond to the hand off, giving atc.dll as the problem. Is this a bug with the program or is there a fix available?I run windows XP home and have the FS9.1 patch installed.any thoughts on this?

Hi,I have both pedals & yoke from CH Products and was wondering if anyone has a definitive setting for the Senstivities and Null zones for them.I assume that different aircraft use them in different ways, (eg if you pull back yoke in a cessna it will be more responsive than in 747),I am talking about say taxiing where I have to press the pedal most of the way when the airplane will then suddenly turn.If anyone could explain I would appreciate it, I also have a registered copy of FSUIPC If I should make any changes in that.Cheersterry

Has anyone tried the new Omega 5.8 drivers with a 9800 Pro? I installed them last night. When switching to the external view I now notice that it takes several seconds for the aircraft textures to pop up. I also see that certain scenery textures also take a few extra seconds to show up. I do not recall this delay while using the Omega 5.7 drivers. Finally, I've also noticed that at random times a huge stutter will develop and then a few minutes later it will dissappear. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to remedy this because otherwise I will just switch back to the 5.7 drivers. Thank you.
