Hello all, this could be a interesting hardware for fs:eMagin Z800 Head Mounted DisplayAt the core of the Z800 are eMagin SVGA 3D OLED microdisplays. These displays deliver high speed, high-resolution (800 X 600 triad picture elements), high-color (>16 million) imagery for near-eye applications. Because OLED materials emit their own light, the displays are thinner and lighter than conventional LCDs, and they require less power, permitting the Z800 to deliver stereovision, head tracking, and hi-fi sound from a USB power source. OLED displays offer higher contrast and a wider dispersion of light, making them more comfortable to view and usable for near-eye applications.eM…

I was about to install the ATI 5.7 drivers when I noticed that the ATI site now shows the latest as 5.8. Has anyone tried these with FS9?Also, they show an uninstaller, but it appears that it would wipe out all ATI-related files. I used to go to a generic VGA driver before switching drivers, but this no longer shows as an option since I installed the ATI Catalyst 6.14 and control panel. Not much help on the ATI site. Thanks for any help,Dale

Hi all.Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to run FS in VC mode spanning across two monitors with the ability to pan-view across those two screens? From what I've been told so far, dual-monitor set-ups off one graphics card gives only one panning window/screen in VC mode. FSwide provides set views in VC mode, with the number of views dependent on the number computers you're prepared to run. Is there an alternative?Cheers,Matthew.

HiI currently have a prehistoric PC and would like to upgrade it to something a bit more sensible. I currently have an Athlon 1900+, a 64mb GeForce2 and 512mb of DDR RAM. I'm on something of a budget so I can't upgrade everything at once. My primary concern at the moment isn't framerates, but stuttering. And of course the fact that to get anything useful out of FS9 I need a DirectX 9 compatible card. The owner of the local computer shop (who also happens to be a simmer) recommended taht upgrading to 1gb of RAM and getting a new graphics card (something like a GF6600GT) should be the first thing I should do.Is this good advice? I'm concerned (and have been advised by other…

Hi,I have a Soltek SL-75DRV4 P1 VIA KT266A Socket A MB with a Athlon XP AX1700DMT3C. I was hoping to upgrade the processor. The docs say max speed is 2100+. What I neglected to notice was that it wasn't the max speed that is the problem, but apparently the MB can't support Thoroughbred. So, not knowing this, I went out and purchased a Thoroughbred 2100+. So now I'm stuck. I can sell the TBred and buy a Palomino 2100+. Or I can toss the MB and get a new one. My purpose is to build a cheap system that runs FS9 ok.As a comparison, for my purposes, I am happy with my Dell D800 laptop with a 1.7MHz Pentium M, 64MB nVidia 4200Go graphics, and 1GB mem.So, in looking at P…

I have a (probably a stupid one) problem in fs9 with the throttle axis.Normally, I use the PFC digital throttle quadrant for all my fixed-wind flying and that's working just fine. But, from time to time, I would like to fly with a helo and there troubles begin.I own a saitek X45 hotas combination and that worked fine before I made a major upgrade to my pc. Since then I can't get a stable throttle setting anymore. I mean, throttle is working and responding to the setting of the handle but I can't keep it there. The throttle (not the actual handle but the throttlesetting) always falls back to zero. I thought my saitek was defect but another stick (cheaper but brandnew) has t…

Over the past few weeks, I have noticed that I periodically have faint vertical lines a fraction of an inch wide and a few inches high on either of my dual monitors being fed by an ATC 9800 Pro video card. These lines are very intermittent, do not show up in the same place each time they appear, and can be on either of my dual monitors but not both at the same time. They also can appear in multiple positions. For example, with a Word program up on my secondary monitor, I see 5 green lines at random height and positions. I closed the Word program and the lines are gone. When they appear, I can also open any other window and move it across the screen in question and the line…

Hi all,Maybe someone has been plagued with a similar problem and has found what is causing it:Quite simply, when I start up FS9 and load up the default cessna, the joystick won't move the eilerons at all. If I shut down FS and start it up again, the joystick moves them just a small amount (I guess 10% of the full traverse). Now, if I perform the following procedure:1] close the flight and 2] go to "settings" and 3] choose the "assignments" button, and 4] merely select the JOYSTICK AXES tab, 5] click on Pro pedals in the "joystick type" drop-down menu,6] and DO NOTHING7] Click the Seitek X45 in the "joystick type" drop-down menu,9] and DO NOTHING9] Pick OK and then return…

i've had problems flying the default baron58 with its over-sensitive pitch inputs and i have changed all the sensitivities on the stick but no go. also the mooney bravo with it's roll to one side or the other, same thing. sometimes other aircraft don't seem to fly quite right either. i recalibrated my stick for each aircraft every time i flew them for the last couple of days as an experiment and lo and behold they all flew perfectly, even the baron58 flew VERY smooth and the mooney didn't roll at all. all other aircraft flew amazingly well. my question here is this: is it uncommon or possibly something wrong somewhere that recalibrating each aircraft before i fly makes i…

  18. I have an ATI XT800 card. I would like to record the output while flying in FS9 and be able to play it back, edit it, and make a movie out of it. Does anyone have any experience doing this? If so, I'd appreciate any help and recommendations as to hardware, connections, etc. What type output do you get and how big are the files when played back? Is the resolution good? Thanks, regards, Bob.

  19. Hi guysmaybe some off you have the same "pain" like me and know some solution for it :-)I have a setup with CH Pro Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quadrant and i am pretty happy with it.The big pain is all the diffrent settings you have to do, if you like to fly diffrent planes. For example, i love to fly with PMDG 747 (4Engines), Aeroworx Beech 200 (2 Throttles,2Props,2 Flight/Idle), Fanda Dash 8 (very special setup engines 3+4 for throttles) and on and on, i hope you get what i mean.....I doubt there is a way to save diffrent FSUIPC profiles (KeyButtons),but maybe there is a way, how we can save diffrent joystick assignemets. If someone has a clue i would be very thankfull....Re…

Hi allIm looking for advice on changing my card. I currently have a Geforce4 TI4600 128mb card which I really need to change. I don't have alot to spend on the computer as my baby daughter seems to take care of most of my money but I am looking at a radeon9600 256mb or another geforce equivalent ( Mx5700 ?) or something around the £70 mark. Last night while flying my Tu154 into Dussledorf I was achieving the great frame rates of 8 - 10 and that was while in the sky with no airport scenery visible and once on the ground my passengers would have been quicker walking to the gates from the runway. I know with my budget I won't achieve much but any improvement will be welcome…

Due to issues with shimmering textures in FS9, I've decided to get a R9800 Pro. I'd like to ask R9800 users what is the performance hit I can expect in FS9? I've never used a Radeon card before, so is there anything I need to know w.r.t. FS before switching? Performance elsewhere doesn't matter as I'm no gamer. R9800 is the only card within my budget so other options are out of question. I frequently use addons such as LDS767, PMDG747/737, Simflyers/Fly Tampa scenery with FSGenesis, ASV and FE. SYSTEM: AMD ATHLON64 3000+, 1024Mb 400Mhz DDR RAM, ASUS K8N Mobo.Any help will be greatly appreciated,Thanks,Keith.

  23. Hi,Just installed this cordless rodent and I have to say this is one superb piece of kit. No lag whatsoever and very responsive and accurate. I had tried the Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 before taking the plunge, but found I couldn't get used to the response lag during normal desktop operations. Otherwise it seemed okay and worked fine in FS9.That said, I have encountered a wee problem with the MX 1000 and I am hoping one of you can help me out please. With ActiveCamera I am no longer able to pan in spot view and within the VC on clicking and holding the mouse wheel. I've tried reassigning the wheel button to AutoScroll but still no joy.
