Hey everybody,I got a new GeForce 7800 GTX 256 MB PCI Express card for my PC. Wow I really enjoy it. My on board VC would max out at 20-22 FPS with settings scaled down and 3D clouds 6-8 FPS not much fun for an IFR pilot.NOW I get 70's FPS, in heavy clouds 50's and sometimes when clouds are all around when paning view around 20's but still very smooth and returns 30's 40's when I stop paning around. I have all of the settings maxed out on everything 1600X1200X32 the max on my PC, 50's-60's at large airports on the ground and 70's on approach. Take in consideration this is a gateway right off the shelf at an Office Depot. The card suggest that you have 400 Watts of pow…

Hi Guys,I just upgraded the entire flightsim platform with a new computer setup and am really getting a chance to see FS9 Stretch the envelope to what I was using. However, When flying in snow, I get the effect of flying in a tunnel. I assume this is an effect of the Graphics card ( Nvidia 6800 PCI Express 16x 256 Megs). I would like to try and fix this as flying in the snow with this is not the best. I have not tried any other video drivers yet before asking everyone here what they think. Thanks for any input..Fly safeDave in Alaskahttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/128425.jpg

I currently own a $125 CH Flight yoke that is about 1 1/2 years old. I was thinking about replacing it with something that has a smoother feel to it. The only thing I am coming up with is a $595 PFC Jet Yoke. My question is, are these the only two options for Flight Sim, in a yoke, the better one being approximately 4 times the cost of the less expensive unit? Seems like there should be something in between..

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!FS9 is running better on my bro's Dell 4700 that doesn't even have a graphics card than it is on my Emonster 550 with 192 out of a total possible 256 RAM with 32 MB SDR vid card. I have a DDR 64 MB lying around, but it's not compatible with M.E. and it physically won't fit in my bro's Dell. Well, one strike against them.I am considering a new computer for myself after Christmas, makes more sense than buying XP for the old. I paid $225 for the Emonster in 2001, my bro got his on clearance a few months ago for $300.The only thing I use my computer for is to fly and play chess, but if I can do better so cheaply, why not?A few friends of mine a…

Hi guy's,I have been using flightsim for years and about 2 months ago I had a huge hard drive crash on my new PC.So I re-formatted my PC and reinstalled windows (XP Pro)and then installed flightsim and the various apps and utilities I use with it, (Ultimate Traffic) with non-standard high quality repaints and others. But now when I go to run flightsim I get the following error (see inclosed picture)I really don't think it's a memory or HDD issue as I am using 1024 mb Corsair Ram and have 2 x 200GB SATA drives running Raid.Just wondering if anyone else has come accross this type of problem in the past.I am just trying to follow a process of elimination now and uninstall add…

About 2 years ago, I built an AMD XP2400 based machine with 512 meg RAM and a Geforce4 TI4200. I does OK for me right now and I won't build a new one for another couple of years. I have always known that the TI4200 based on the Nvidia chip doesn't like AA and you can see at this website http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2..._charts-03.html the way in which it suffers compared with many other video cards. However, my local computer shop has some ATI cards selling very cheaply for only $99 AUD . This is called an Xtreama ATI RADEON 9800 PRO-SE 128meg DDR TV / DVI. I can't really understand how it isdescribed as a "PRO-SE" model -- but anyway, it is obviously a cheape…

I recently posted a message regarding my computer rebooting while running FS.Think I may have found what the problem is.Had a reboot today and when windows had finished loading I reported the problem to microsoft and it came back with a solution."The error was likely caused by Windows R driver for realtek AC97 ALCXWDM.SYS ." It gave me a website and a driver to install which I have done.Could someone explain to me what this driver I have mentioned is which has caused my system to crash and is it known to cause probs with FS as this is the only program that causes this to happen.I understand sound problems can cause alot of crashes if things aren't configured properly.many…

Have an ongoing issue that seems to be getting worse. Seems this rig of mine likes to crash to a black screen. The screen looks the way it does when it is off. After a while I get the "FS9 has encountered a problem and needs to close" screen. I have a FX55 processor, GForce 6800 Ultra vid card and two gig Corsair ram, Syncmaster 213T LCD flatscreen. Am also running FS Autostart. This seems to happen close to airports (mostly on approach) and never in cruise. Last one was after a two hour flight and I was 1000 feet agl. Hope someone can help, this is a real pain.Regards,Joe

I have the USB CH Pro Pedals. I have noticed that the left brake pedal will not release the differential brake unless I push down on the heel of the pedal. In other words the red "differential brake" message will not disappear! I have a tough time taxiing. I have tried changing sensitivity and recalibration, but that does not work. It seems that this might be a hardware issue. Has anyone experienced this problem and is this something I should try to fix myself or send it to CH products. I am NOT under warranty. I might be willing to open the case to see what the problem is. Should I ask CH products what the problem might be?Thanks for any help!Airbus

It's out... ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/CHCMv40.exeIf you are looking for more control or accuracy over your CH USB controllers then 4.0 is the answer. With the release of version 4.0 you can expect to access some of the high end programming features with out having to learn any scripting.Be advised however that version 4.0 currently does not support Windows XP 64 bit. If you are a CH USB owner and have XP 64bit then do not despair, support for 64bit is coming down the pipe VERY soon.

Subject should say it all - I've been under the impression that there are no 64-bit drivers for the TrackIR3 just yet, but I've recently learned that there might infact be. The eDimensional website says nothing of them, however, so I would like to hear from someone who has Windows XP x64 and TrackIR3 (preferrably Pro with Vector Expansion) and can confirm that it works.Thank you!

Hello,I purchased a vid card about a month ago and thought to myself, I see many people using 2 monitors for flight sim and thought that with my new purchase I have my onboard graphics chip that can be used for another Monitor. Now I was just curious what the advantage is to having 2 monitors for MSFS and how hard is it to set up? Does it slow down performance? and one more, I heard that you need a special program for it and not sure which one? On another not, For one of my games I have to turn AA and AF on 4X for the game to play, MSFS worked fine without it on, I was also wondering if its a good idea to leave it on while playing MSFS?Thank you much in advance

I'm looking to upgrade my old P4 2.4 A lot of the new processors say they support 64 bit, but can the chip still be run in 32 bit mode? I'm just looking to upgrade mobo, processor, & RAM and don't want to upgrade OS to Win XP 64 just yet, I'd rather stick with XP Home.It would be nice to have a 64 bit capable chip for the future. Is this possible?ThanksJim

From everything I have heard the PFC rudders and yokes are top notch. Question - does the pressure required to be applied adjust commensurate to airspeed. If so, that is incredible. If not, do they give enough realism to justify the expense.

I always hated this sorta question regarding "will it be ok to run FSXXXX" but my question follows this line a little. Anyways, here goes...I'd like to upgrade my system or should I say CPU and motherboard from what I currently have which is a P4 3.2E + MSI 865PE Neo2-S (MS-6728) motherboard to an AMD based system with a matching motherboard with an AGP slot. The reason that I want the AGP is because I have an 6800 Ultra with the AGP slot that I don't want to get rid of simply because I cant afford to. I'd prefer to stick with an MSI board but I cannot find any with an AGP slot. I've been thinking of getting an AMD 64 3700+ with an Asus A8V motherboard and I'm wonderi…

I have been trying to reinstall my FS2004 and I keep getting Cyclic Redundancy errors. I used CDCheck to find out what was going on and apparently my Setup.Exe and SetupENU.dll files are the only ones that are unrecoverable. My CAB files are fine, thankfully. Any idea how I can fix this, or get those files? My email is [email protected] if anyone wants to email them to me from off Disk 1.Major thanks if anyone can help...-Brian
