I tried searching these and other boards and google and didn't find much on this subject (mostly 'I'm using a gamepad for fs2004 but want to find a joystick' type posts). I would like to know if one can use a gamepad for FS2004.I was looking at this wireless one from Saitekhttp://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/p3000.htmWith the shift key it looks like I could get quite a few commands into it. One stick for control surfaces and one for panning plus the other 8-way D-pad for perhaps trimming (or whatever) makes it look pretty good. Anyone have any suggestions ? -------------------------------Although I have a Saitek X-45 throttle/stick setup, the reason I'm wondering about this…

Hello,Few days ago I upgrade my computer (thanks to Edwin who helped me in this forum). I got a new MOBO Asus A8v deluxe and AMD 64 3000+. And I also purchased a new Corsair RAM 1Gb.I assembled then the old hard drive and old fllopy drive. Now, after a few days I am enjoying many FS2004, everything running as I dreamed before when I had my old pentium. The only problem I have is that the BIOS don't recognize de floppy drive. I have tried everything (I think), I have change positions of the cables, the cables it self. The only thing I get is the permanent light in the floppy drive, nothing else. WIndows says it has all controllers installed, but....Anyone with any ideas?Than…

Hello!First let me apologise my bad english. I hope you can understand my problem even with my very bad grammar, because I don't know whoat to do. But one thing after another... I just installed the FS 2004 on my brand new PC Konfig:AMD FX-552GB RAMNvidia GTX7800Audigy 2NForce4 Chipset320 GB Raid HDI was really exited because I played on this pc for 3 month and every game had a perfomance boost past my imagination. But my mood changed fast after I started the simulation. I tried nearly every possible Detail and AI Konfig in the game. But even with EVERYHING on the min slider positon and at 800x600 I got a frame rate about 0,2-1 fps !!! No joke! After the first frustration…

I am thinking of changing my PC, having flown Flight sim 98 for some 10 years on my ageing Intel Pentium 733 PC. Having seen FS20004, I have decided to make the change. As this is going to be a one off, can anybody recommend a system for me, I would prefer AMD and Nvidia. As I havent changed my PC for 10 years, my good lady has given me permission to "go for it!" Although I think that might cost me in the long run.I'm not sure about these dual processors and dual GPU's, but I would like the fastest system for FS2004 that money can buy! (Oh dear I shouldnt have said that !)I probably wont be u[pgrading to FS2006.Looking forward to your kind reply. Many thanks,Chris

I am getting way depressed at buying this new card.It is actually a 6600, but shown in install as an 6800. Gforce numbering always confuses me!Anyway, with every other application on my computer its is fine to very good. With Fs it is a disaster causing crashes to desktop (sleep mode) many times. It seems to be at approach to airports, or at airports, so scenery density must be trigger.I have upgraded to every new driver/forceware, and reset FS9 from desktop. My sliders are where they were, more or less, with my old 4800 which worked well. I just wanted to increase quality and frame rates. The annoying thing is that it does increase these aspects, and all is wonderful, …

Hello FolksCan you confirm that the PC's fligh yoke and pedals (such as the CH products) do not have any forcefeedback mechanism but a simple "spring" return, pretty much like a standard joystick????Can also you confirm that, in terms of similarity with reality the FF system is totally unrealistic?? To me it looks like more of an arcade game device rather than a simulation game device.Once in a while i fly in a real GA plane and I never experienced such hard vibration and jerking on the yoke!!!Maybe you can experience a buffet vibration and nothing more....in case of turbulence the entire plane shakes not only the yoke or stick!!!!The only thing I think the FF simulates w…

Hello, I am considering finally getting rid of my 21" CRT and upgrading to an LCD. Just wonderingwhat to look for, what is a good name brand(s). I am in Ontario, Canada for shopping and will most likely source one out locally once I find out what to look for.I would like to stay around 20" but because of price, I may need to drop to 19"What do you recommend I look for? Thanks!

I'm trying to adjust my lcd monitor, but have no idea how to do it. The problem is that the monitor offers a surprisingly bad rendition of FS9 - the main problem being that everything looks much more pixelated, with streaks of color, making some addons almost look like "paintings." Any program I can download to help me get this thing calibrated properly? Have experimented with gamma and brightness settings, but with no results. thanks.ricardo

  19. This is one more thing I cannot figure out! :)I built a computer for flight simming only. It's an Athlon 64 3800+ with a SATA hard disk running Windows XP SP2. I also have an PIV with Windows XP SP2 and an IDE hard disk. These are connected to a network using a router (Westell Versalink) and then to the Internet via ADSL.Now, often when I download a zip file from the Internet on the Athlon computer, I cannot extract the contents since I get a CRC error. If I download the same file from the Internet on the PIV computer I get no errors and can either extract the contents there or move the zipped file to the Athlon and extract it there. It doesn't matter wether I use Windows …

I got it in yeah, This card has put a smile on my face, I get 70-80 FPS, 20 or better in heavy clouds but still very smooth since thats what my FS used to do with the old one at best. I have maxed out all settings and use 3D clouds. Big airports about 50-60 FPS. I also put in my new sound card Sound Blaster Aud. ZS 2. I can say that the FS 2004 runs smooth for me. But 400 W power supply is recomended, I have 300 W but still seems to be fine just a couple of stuters in heavy clouds but not much to notice. It seems to come when looking around in 3D cockpit view only but not bad at all could be the 300Watt pwr supply but I'd buy it again. P4 3.2 Ghz HT1 GB of DDR RamInte…

Hi,I have both pedals & yoke from CH Products and was wondering if anyone has a definitive setting for the Senstivities and Null zones for them.I assume that different aircraft use them in different ways, (eg if you pull back yoke in a cessna it will be more responsive than in 747),I am talking about say taxiing where I have to press the pedal most of the way when the airplane will then suddenly turn.If anyone could explain I would appreciate it, I also have a registered copy of FSUIPC If I should make any changes in that.Cheersterry PCCHIPS M848 - AMD XP 2400 _ 1Gb PC2700 RAM - 9600 Pro 128 mb - SB audigy 2 - CH pedals - saitek Joystick - Mk 2a Thingummy Whizzer - Fs…

Pardon me for shouting, but this is just too good to miss, and almost too good to be true. Chuck posted this here last night (with no responses :-( ) and it's a must see for all ATI users because the autogen shimmering has finally been eliminated. Check this link for Chuck's post and a link to the original Hardware forum post http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=274298&page=2 . This fix really does work. The difference here is just amazing. It's the simplest fix there could be (just drop a couple of very small files into the FS9 root folder) and there is no downside risk to trying it. (Mods - Please leave this here for at least a day or two. This pro…
