I have owned my PC for 2 years now and it is a Intel 2.8 Ghz HT 800mhz FSB 512kb L2 Cache socket 478. I have 1GB DDRam and a Ge Force 6600GT Graphics card..... now I basically am basically flying the LDS 767 + PMDG 747 +737 and most of the time have Active Sky 5 and Ultimate Traffic running at around 80% traffic. At most airports my framerates are around about 10-16 fps and they drop in the VC to around 8 fps which I am finding difficult to enjoy... I have the target set at 20fps.... my question is if I upgraded to let say the Athlon 64 San Diego 4000 with new faster memory would I get a good increase in fps lets say up to around 20... (ps my sliders are all in the middle…

Hi,I have an ATI 9200 128MB AGP card using the latest ATI drivers. I'm considering installing the latest Omega drivers. Would I see a big performance difference? Thanks in advance,Lawrie

I thought this would be the card to beat the complex Heathrow + 100% Ultimate Traffic + real weather setup. My 9800 Pro got about 6-8 FPS in that situation. Guess what - after spending my hard earnt dosh (

Hey guys. I just upgraded from an Ati X800 pro to and X850 XT and my fps actually decreased. Anyone have any ideas as to why that would be. My power supply is 480W, 3.2E processor so you wouldn't think that would be a big deal but ya never know I guess.

Great joy then great gloom. Fired up new PC with FS2004 (what else would I need it for?) and got fantastic frame rates but then after 5-10 minutes the system crashed with the "ati2dvag driver has stopped working normally" message, requiring a reboot. Happens every time. For what it's worth, I can run the 3dmark2001/2003/2005 suites ok.System description: AMD64 3700+ SanDiego CPU in ABit AX8 motherboard, 2GB (4x512MB) DDR400 RAM, SATA hard drives, Creative Audigy ZS sound card, ATI PCI-E X800XT video card, 495W Enermax PSU. I have recently been upgrading my computer bit by bit, first i got 1GB of RAM, then a GEforce 6600 256MB card, running on a 2GHZ intel chip. I was getting pretty good FPS, despite the 2GHz chip, but I decided to upgrade to a 3.2GHz prescott chip, and motherboard to go with itI installed the Mobo today, with the new chip but windows won't boot, it says i need to activate it. Windows seems to see the new mobo and chip as a new computer. My copy of windows came with my HP computer about two years ago so it is not a retail version, i think it will locked to the old computer/motherboard. Im not sure i can even find the disc anyayIs there a way round this? I dont want to have t…

Graphic Card PowerColor radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb2 memory Ram of 512MB each at 266First idea was to change the processor but searching on internet I found that the motherboard would allow only to update to a 2.4Gz processsor so I am thinking in change the motherboard but I have some concerns about the new one. Don't know sure if all the components are going to work properly. As I never did this before, my concerns are mainly if the new motherboard will fit in the box, and if hard dis…

Hello there everyone,I've just sold my laptop and am looking to buy a new desktop PC. My laptop was a Dell Inspiron 9100 and had 3.4GHz P4 HT and 1GB RAM but only had an ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility. FS2004 ran but didn't run too well at all.I'm looking at buying the following spec PC. I'm wondering if anyone could comment on whether FS2004 is likely to run well/very well etc. on it please?Pentium 4 processor with HT technology (3.2GHz, 800FSB, 2MB cache)1024MB PC-4200 Dual Channel DDR2 533MHz RAM320GB Serial ATA RAID 0 Stripe (7200rpm with DataBurst cache)256MB nVidia GeForce 6800 graphics cardHow does that look? Will I be able to use decent settings and still get good frame…

The only time I really get good performance with FS2004 is when I fly the slower aircraft like the Cessnas or other older prop aircraft. My nearly 2 year old P4 2.8 GHz with a 9800 pro video card is getting a little long in the tooth to handle the demands of FS2004.Today I was flying out of Alice Springs in Australia for some unknown reason in the 737 and I was shocked to find out I was still getting 50-60 frames per second with most of the settings maxed except for that unrealistic autogen scenery which I always run in the off mode. Now I know that performance aircraft can run smoothly in FS2004 "If" you are flying over areas that are "Extreamly" limited in scenery detai…

I never could solve the wretched CTDs that used occur at random times during FS9 sessions.I needed an upgrade anyway, and I had begun to suspect a hardware problem anyway. So here's the latest specs:A switch to AMD 64 Athlon 2.0G1 G DDRx2 RamGeForce FX 5700 256 Ram by BFGSoundblaster Audigy8x AGP Gigabyte K8 Triton moboWindows XP Home Service Pak 2OK, the deal now is I'm having splotches and spikes flash at times when I'm in the game, and they also happen in the window that displays the aircraft chosen in the "create a flight" page.I tried filling the sky with multi leveled cloud types, and when flying south out of KMKE along the Lake Michigan shoreline, the clouds, outlii…

Hi all.I have recently bought myself a Creative 5200 5.1 speaker set.Apperantly their quality rocks but I have one problem. When FS is open at first, all the 5 speakers work but when I change the view the 2 rear speakers lose their sound. If I go back to windows via alt+tab and come back to FS the rear speakers' sound is restored. Then if I change views they are gone again. This is driving me nuts. And then again,I have the same problem with other programs too.For example when I play some music with windows media player all 5 works but for winamp, the 2 rears have no sound. And I have GTA :San andreas installed and it has all 5 working for it too.I checked all the settings from C…

Hi all, I have a question for you if you don't mind. Thanks in advance for the input. I am looking to upgrade again. I can't justify spending $800 for the FX chips so I was thinking of going with the 4000+ @ 2.4. My question is this, what is the difference between the ClawHammer and the San Diego? Is that the chip you would go with? If so, which board? I happen to be partial to Asus and was going to go with the A8N-SLI premium with 2 gigs OCZ 2 3 2 5 184 pin unbuffered and the Leadtek 7800GTX. I currently run 3 3 3 8, should I stick with that or go to the 2 3 2 5? And, if the board supports ECC should I get it? I always thought ECC slowed you down but I could be crazy th…

It's a shot in the dark. Anybody using an Asus P4S8X motherboard (an older 1st generation 8x AGP board), with an ATI 9800 Pro at 8x?Sounds like it should work because the specs say so but after several months of testing (and replacing the boards twice), I have come to the conclusion that FS2004 cannot run with these at 8x... unless someone can prove me wrong (please do! :) )
