It is NOT scenery or AFCAD, I have not installed any ;)To anyone else getting the dreaded out of memory error message but can not explain it, Do you have Flight Deck Companion V 3.0 or V 3.1 installed? See this post...Dave,First off, I absolutely love the program and I am a LONG time user, all the way back to S-Combo LOL. Thanks for the V 3.1 update and Happy Holidays to you.Unfortunately however, I think I have a problem. Please allow me to give you a little background. I have been experiencing Out of Memory error messages for months now with two different systems and multiple h/w configurations. I can not remember the first time it happened but I think it is about the…

Hiwould the fact that ive just updated my BIOS.stop my memory from causing CTD's???.i could only run my memory at 333mhz instead of 400mhz ,it would CTD if i tried.now after updating to latest BIOS,i can run at 400mhz,and NO ctd's.didn't think that BIOS could have that effect.i was told that it was an incompatibility issue with my AMD350064 that was problem.(i use 1gb of ballistix)causing it to overheat. still no complaints saved me from buying new memory best wishes steve

I used to be a long time Nvidia user. I used to run a GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 DDR. I have recently bought a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro. so im not a big spender ok!anyways, i have noticed a slight drop in performance with the radeon. to be more accurate, a change in performance.I need some serious advice, so bear with me here. here is my current rig.Athlon XP 2400+ on a K7S5a ECS mobo.1024 MB DDR ramWestern Digital 40 GB 7200 rpm 8 meg buffer HDSapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 128 DDR.With my old video card I could run 1024 rez, 2x Cuincunx AA and 4x AF and have a stable 18 FPS (locked) in most areas. Scenery and Autogen both Dense, and major cities would dip to about 13-14. not t…

I am about to build a new AMD system incorporating an ASUS A8N-SLI nVidia nForce4 motherboard. I currently have an older P4 system, and am hoping to migrate the new system into my existing case (ATX).My question regards power supply. My existing power supply is a Dynapower DP-400AT 400Watt, with a sticker "Pentium 4 Ready, Intel 12 volts". The plug into the current motherboard appears to have about 16-18 pins, with an additional 4-pin plug into another socket on the board. I certainly have no objections to paying $22-25 for a new p/s unit, and it appears easy to install into an ATX case with 4 screws. But looking at the current p/s units available from an on-line sup…

I've ordered my first AMD based system, nothing ground breaking, just the A8N mobo by Asus, 1G of memory, a PCI-e card and the CPU of course- with the San Diego core. I will be sticking to my current IDE HD's for a bit, and also migrating a PCI sound card into this new system.I've built and set up several Pentium systems. What, if anything, is going to be different in setting up the system and drivers with my AMD vs the P4? I did get the following advice (thanks Edwin and Soarpics :) ):http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=11815&page=Anything else that I need to know?Thnaks- Bruce.

I am going to start picking up the parts over the next two months for my new computer. I have built them before but they have always been cheapo systems for friends or family. This one is for me, so I am trying to treat myself a bit.Since I have built before, I would imagine I would have no problems with the system below in putting it together?I will most likely order from TigerDirect.ca - since I am in London, Ontario Canada. Here is what I am considering... Your advice would be much appreciated.Thanks.A455-2112 Asus A8N SLI Deluxe nVidia Socket 939 Motherboard / PCI Express / Audio / Dual Gigabit LAN / Serial ATA / Dual RAID / USB 2.0 & Firewire CP1-A64-4000 E AMD A…

I have installed a Radeon 9600 Pro 128Mb card into my machine to replace the integrated graphics, and I've been able to up some sliders to improve eye candy. However I have anggle with Antialiasing (AA).When I have AA switched on I get corruption of the text in the ATC window and on the FPS readout at the top of screen (can't remember if ATIS text is affected or not). This occurs whether I have AA set on under the ATI control panel or under FS2002's display settings.I also get it with both the ATI Catalyst 5.4 drivers and the Omega 5.2 drivers.IIRC I also saw a similar problem years ago using AA on FS98, although it was the entire panel which was being corrupted by the AA …

The last time I purchased a cpu one would always use the GHz. speed among different versions for a fair comparison. At least with Intel. But now looking at the new AMD Athlon 64's I see their speeds are so much lower (2.2 to 2.4 GHz.). Yet I am reading of amazing things from these. So I am confused. Why are they so good? Sure they got dual-core but FS can't take advantage of that yet. What would be the equivilent to my Intel P4 3.4 Prescott? Thx & Merry Xmas

I am in the process of buying a new computer since my Alienware Laptop with P4 3.8 went dead (SUSPECT A BURNED POWER UNIT).I LIVE IN vENEZUELA SO I can forget about fancy names like Alienware and the likes.Major Brands sold here are Toshiba (too slow) HPackard, and we have Sevice for Dell.BTW I had it with laptops. No matter how much you put in harware wise they are too limited, too hot, too heavy , very limited in HD drives for at least 7200rpm.So I am back to Desk top.So far I seem inclined to buy a Dell 600XPS with Dual core technology but 2X 3.0 Pentium D only.(They also sell one single core P4 3.8 but no SL. The paricular model I am interested has SLI for graphic ca…

Hi,I am going to buy a new system, that means a lot of wondering, pondering, reading and surfing. I want a set up with four screens with wide view. The point is how many pc's do I need.In a Flight Sim Com forum I found a post stating: "According to Microsoft, Fs can now support 4 hardware - accelerated displays".Great, but does support mean that one can use the four screens for Fs scenery and have reasonable FPs (18/25 p.s.)???Of course I would need a top end PC someting like:-Asus A8N32-SLI-DX NF4 SLIx16 S939 PCIe motherboard, with two 256 MB Gforce videocards in SLI mode, a AMD 4400 x2 dual core processor and and a SATA HD raid 0/3.But the crucial question is does it wo…

I would like to hear some thoughts of you how the newest TrackIr would compare to a second (flat 17 inch) monitor as to situational awareness and readability of gauges. It would help me choosing a suitable Christmas present :-))Herrie

...Including the famous squeal of death while using certain planes in FS2004?These third party drivers cure it. this is my post pasted over from the FS2004 Forum in case it is of any use to anyone...>For people having trouble with the sounds - I would bet my house that you are all using the Audigy 2 ZS. This card and the creative drivers have problems. The BAC-111 sounds simply shouldn't crash the card like that, and it is really difficult to trace the reason why (other Audigy cards seem ok).I can only think that the problem is down to a combination of creative's drivers and that particular card, because like I say, wave files should not crash the card - they are only …

1) The throttle on the joystick does not operate at the full range. Basically, it's at a 10% to 90% range. I've calibrated it, tried various sensetivities and dead-zones and still can not expand the range to 0%-100%. Yes, the F1 and F4 keys work okay but I would like to get the proper function on th JS. Is there a aircraft.cfg edit to take care of this?2) I've notice with the various aircraft that the forcefeedback levels can vary. One A/C they are perfect, another they barely exist and yet another it practically breaks your wrist. Agian, an aircraft.cfg edit? Thanks in advance.

Everyone,You can see from the enclosed screen shot my problem. I'm running two Leaktek GeForce 6600GT in SLI mode (but with SLI disable I still have the same thing). Any drivers above the 70 series results in the corruption you see. It is random and shows up in both the map and outside the cockpit window. This includes the text, which I think is interesting. It doesn't matter if it's windowed or full-screen. I've also gone into FS itself and turned on/off all hardware display setting, including resolutions to see if it makes a difference...no joy.I am stumped on this one. I would like to use the 80 series because they are supposed to offer performance improvements for SL…

Last night, and again today, I had a crash like I've never seen. There was a bit of a scrunch noise in the speakers, then the screen went blue, and sound started looping. This feels like a hardware issue. Probably the graphics card - seeing as it is the most expensive thing in the box, that stands to reason! How can I track down the culprit? Is there some kind of log? Also, this happened after upgrading to the version 3 of the Dreamfleet A36 - just in case anyone has seen a correlation here.
