HiI Have been getting frequent computer restarts when running FS2004 which i have put down to overheating. I have recently removed the side panel and have seen a considerable decrease in temps. Before i was getting a Motherboard temp of 55-57 deg and graphics card temp of 45deg.Now they are peaking at 41 for MB and 31 for graphics card and the case is much cooler now.think i may have found my problem although havent yet done a long flight.Pity i didnt try this before uninstalling and reinstalling FS plus loads of add ons and Aircraft only to find the same problem. I will have to get another fan installed i think.{they never seem to come with adequet cooling when you buy th…

Maybe I can get an answer to my question here. Maybe!!!I have been a desktop pilot for over 8 years and have flown most of all of the software sim's including PS1.3a, PMDG 737NG's, PIC767 and the Level D 767. All all superb in their systems but the biggest glitch in all of the above software is the LACK of a good YOKE & THROTTLE arrangement. I had 2 hours on the real 737 NG-700 flight simulator and I can also tell you that I trained on the PMDG 737NG software which is outstanding and it was a breeze knowing all about the systems and the aircraft in general from the manual, tutorials & lots of time. The biggest disappointment however is that nobody has developed or…

I have just started building a new system using an Enermax CS-718 case and have found this wire which originates from the front panel. It looks to me like some sort of temperature sensor but the manual makes no reference to it. Can anyone tell me where to position it inside the case. Thanks in advance,GeorgeSensor?Front panel:Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting

First, Id like to thank in advance the Hardware gurus on this site who I have always given great advice. This is the only place I come when asking PC hardware questions. My question is, I currently have a P4 3.8, with 2 gigs of ram and a geforce 7800 GTX. I get very good performance in FS9 with all the addons (for which I am addicted). I also get good performance in other applications. However, I built my PC about a year ago and aside from a few minor upgrades (Video Card, Added Memory etc..) I have the urge to build a new one. There doesn't seem like there has been much advances in CPU speed only Duel Core and SLI. From what I have read, Nether will give me any increase i…

Hi All,Firstly, I know that there has been a lot of coverage on this subject, and that it has become somewhat of a "Mind Filed Subject" so to speak, what I am trying to find out is fairly straight forward in that I am not looking to delve into the internal workings of everyones own hardware listings etc, but, I am trying to see if anyone has noticed anything in particular with this either Enabled or Disabled.I have just turned mine Off for the first time, so I will be looking into how things perform and see if I notice anything.I asked this because I have just seen a post in the SB3 tech forum about someone having problems with the latest version etc, and someone replied…

Hi guys,a few questions for you:- I'm building a new sys and was wondering about the Athlon X2 4600+ or 4800+. Is the last one much faster than the 4600+, or won't I notice to much difference in performance between them?- For FS9, is the AMD 64 FX much better than the X2-dual core options above, regarding its expensive price?- I'm getting an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. Now, I've noticed it is a nVidia SLI ready card. This means I should buy a GeForce card because the MOBO is optimized for using one, or do you think I'll get a good performance as well with a X800XL Radeon card I was planning to buy (both PCI express, of course)? Many thanks and regards,Lucas.

Just got my new CH yoke, and was selecting assignments for the various buttons. Couple things:1) The assignment options allows for switching (power) on/off the autopilot. As this would be nice to do without going to the keyboard (especially good for my ES Cirrus in VC as it is 'always on' once you make any selection and must be turned off immeditly prior to landing) I wanted to assign the left red button 'behind' the grip in order to turn it off. I did that in the assignment set-up, but it does not seem to work on the Cirrus or any other aircraft....any idea's?2) The assignment menu also gives an option to assign 'selections' 1,2,3 & 4. I figured 'great, I'll try to a…

I'm considering buying 2 Gb of RAM for my AMD 64+ system. Currently I have 1 Gb of PC3200 DDR400 Crucial Ballistix RAM running DDR (2-2-2-5). I'm intending to buy 2 Gb of PC4000 DDR500 Crucial Ballistix RAM (probably running stock 3-3-3-8). This is NOT to increase my FPS, but to try and avoid load times and stutters in games like FS2004 and BF2.Does anyone have experience of going from 1 Gb to 2 Gb? Did it make any difference? Thanks in advance.P.S. I have done a forum search but can't find anything specific.P.P.S. I had thought I had done most of the standard tweaks to speed up the system but things were just not getting any better. Today, I decided to re-read the Windows XP tune up and did another 2 defrags and also decided to view any hidden hardware installations per the instructions in this thread titled " how many monitors do you have". I had about 20 more than I should have. I also deleted all kinds of other items that were grayed out....sorry but I read the warning after I did this but the system seem OK.So now anyway the results...I fire …

Truth is, it doesn't really bring much, but some mini-fps...Did a little testing today, with the situation of 5 overcast 8/8 cumulus layers (FE clouds, DXT, RenderToTexture ON) and Cessna on the strip. Got max. of 26fps, with lowest 24fps. CPU overclocking (3.4Ghz to 4.0Ghz) seems to have NO impact on the clouds, as AVGfps were the same. But, OCing the GPU brought these 2fps.My guess only is that CPU is only relevant for panels, ground textures etc.So that's it, maybe this can help someone who is upgrading.
