Thought it would be a no brainer as I already have 1 SATA drive installed and several IDE drives also. Here are the two issues where I could use some help:1. I want to run the SATA disks as seperate drives, not an Array RAID 0 or an Array RAID 1, or RAID 0+1, but I see no selection to run them independantly.2. And probably even more important, first I can't see the drive at all in order to format or partition it (maybe that's why an option is not available for question 1 yet?).I have it connected in one of the two SATA connections found on my ASUS board. And the drivers for the RAID/SATA must be installed correctly since I am already using one SATA?I tried looking for th…

I changed to AMD 3500 recently, but am concerned at the temp it is running at. It is not overclocked, but motherboard monitering software is reporting it as running at 119 degrees!I would have thought the thing would melt at that temp, so assumed the software was at fault. Any advice?Ray Keattch.

I got myself a new 19'' LCD monitor the other day to replace my CRT. Yes I know that FS2004 looks better on a CRT but I'm glad to have a desktop back! I followed the instructions in the first post of this thread. http://forums.stereovision.net/viewtopic.p...ic=2084&forum=1 Now, when I view the image through my ED glasses, it seems to appear 3d. However, when I take the glasses off, I don't really see much of a "two image" image - it was fairly noticeable on my CRT. Using the applicable hot keys, I can increase/reduce separation of the two images but the most comfortable picture is seen when the two almost converge. I was just wondering how others see the 3d image on t…

I just ordered the Dell 24" Widescreen Monitor. It should arrive within a few days. Does anyone who has this monitor, know if there is anything special I have to do to run FS9 on it? I was just wondering if there are any config modifications that need to be done or anything like that for games (specifically FS9)to run in widescreen? Thanks in advance for any advice.Rob

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a really cool way of keeping my FX 57 system cool. I already have four fans, 1 on the AMD FX 57 CPU, 1 x on the Nvidia 7800 GTX, 1 x at the front end of the machine to blow air across the system sucking air in from outside the pc, 1 x at the rear of the machine in reverse so the air gets sucked out. In addition I occassionally take the side casing off (not sure twhether this is ok or not?). According to the Nviida properties my GPU temp started at 35 degrees (bearing in mind -2 outside house temp this morning, probably the same in my room!), after running FS9 for 1 hour with the pmdg B744 the temp rose to 59 degrees C. Not sure the s…

I was wondering does it make a difference in performance when running 1GB vs. 2GB or more of system memory. I heard that Windows XP Professional does not utilize memory over 1GB very well. Is this a misnomer? Thanks!

HI guys,Until recently, on my display.cfg, I have the usual and known trick to add the name of our actual graphics card and the driver that I was poiting there, was 'nv4_disp.dll' or something like that, that was there since my Nvidia Geforce2, and then for GForce4 and now for the 6800GT.I must say, that after I change to this new card, I was little disappointed with the improvements that I had, because they seemed a little "shy"!! I improved RAM, motherboard, graphics card, but I now know that I need to improve my Pentium IV 2.66 to see more drastic improvements. And in some situations, I noticed that in previous configuration, the game seemed more smooth.A few days ago, …

Hello! My PSU blew up and has destroyed my mobo, perhaps the CPU, DDR etc.My system was: Abit AV8 3rd eye; AMD 64 3500; Arctic Cooling Freezer 64; Sapphire Radeon (ATI) 9800 Pro 128 MB AGP; Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2; WD Raptor 74GB SATA 8MB cache; WD Caviar Special Edition 40 GB ATA-100 8MB cache; Antec Neopower 480W; Surge Protector; Win XP Pro.I have replaced the PSU (500W Blue Storm) and now must replace the mobo etc in turn, testing as I go. I suppose I should go for PCI-Express compatibility since my AGP card (128MB) was always a little underpowered and should probably be upgraded anyway. I use quite a lot of addon scenery and I undock AI planes, FS Nav etc to a se…

Hello,I run a three computer network for my flight sim. Up until now, I have used multiple displays on one computer for the sim and have run support programs, like ASV on others. I also run some Project Magenta Software at times.I came across a multi computer / multi display program called MULTIVISTA. I tried the demo and bought the package (Pro Version) for about $50.00(US). IMHO this program is great. I now have the two support computers with multiple displays on each and just one main display on the flight sim system (two display cards in SLI). You can switch from extended screen mode (undocked panels) to "remote control" mode (keyboard / mouse works the remote comput…

Hi, I am using FS 2004 on the following hardware MB Asus A7v8x-x with AMD Athlon 2400+ 32, NVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5200, 1GB RAM. I do have performance problems (slow build up of scenerey especially, when using add-on scenerey , e. g. German Scenerey and add-on aircraft, e. g. Katana). I am thinking about improving my system. What would be the best option: a) new graphics card (which one?):( new CPU (I have an option of exchanging either my CPU agains an AMD Athlon, 3000+ Barton 32 or exchanging the complete MB incl. CPU against an Asus K8V-MX with an AMD Sempron S754 3000+ 64)c) a completely different optionThanks in advanceRegardsMarty

  13. Hello,For years I fly with 2 monitors attached to my AGP video card (with success). I observed that I have 2 entries in the FS9 settings window for hardware ; device settings :1/NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.02/NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.1in fact one for each monitor attached to the video card.I decided to improve my HWR config and I added a second video card (a GF FX5200 PCI) with 1 monitor attached. So now I "fly" with 3 monitors with success. I can "undock" FS9 windows to these monitors (mainly I put the 2D cockpit, Radio, GPS, .... to one monitor , FSNav to an other monitor and I use the primary monitor for spot view or …

  15. Hi,I am looking to buy a new PC. I'll be using it primarily for simming. Usually, I run all of these things together:- intensive add/on scenery like Heathrow Pro, Simflyers, Flytampa, etc.- intensive add-on planes like PMDG, PSS, Level-D, etc- ASV weather- Radar Contact- AI at max with about every airline that exists in the world + military traffic + GA traffic- add-on meshI am happy to invest a reasonable amount of money into my system (anything less than approx. 5000 USD/EUR), so what PC should I get? Would I get a much better system if I spent more (without getting a Cray)? Thanks for any hintsChris

Hey all. Quick question. Right now i'm running a 1.8ghz pentium 4 processor 768mb of ram, and as of now a nvidia mx2 64mb video card, dell dimension 4500, with a 250watt power supply. When in flight sim witht the card now i've almost supprisingly maxed out all my slidders and get around 7 frames a second, but i can't tell the difference if it was 7 becasue it looked good to me. I was flying a freeware pc-12. Then when I switched to my PMDG 737 I could tell I was lagging. My question is would the geforce 6200 oc help me out. Getting a new computer is not an option till next year. Also could I even run that card with my system. Thanks for all help.

I am thinking of improving my flying experience by invesing in a better joystick (or similar flying aid). I currently use the Logitech Attack 3 with 11 fuly programmable buttons and Rapidfire. Ideally I would either like a few more features or just to improve on the feel of what the Attack 3 already has, or both.I say "Joystick" but Would give open consideration to any flying aid. Have browsed through a handful of Saitek models but have never tried one of these. As to how much I am willing to spend; depends on what I am getting for my money. A couple of months ago I posted a 'help' message in regard to the CH Rudder Pedals. Whenever I touched the pedals I would get a brake or diferential brake indication. It was very frustrating, especially whentrying to taxy the MAAM DC3. I tried everything including contacting CH Support. The other day I stumbled onto the answer. I pushed both pedals to the floor and the brakes indication disappeared. The light went on and I went back to CH Control Manager and ticked the 'Inverted' boxes for the two brake axies. Now they work perfectly and moving around any airport is a breeze.I hope this helps if anyone else is having the same problem.Neil Bradley

I have an ATI 9800 pro. I have an annoying problem where when I start a flight the screen goes black, then blinks between black what is supposed to be the commencement of my flight for 30 seconds, then I finally get my screen to show what it is supposed to show. This also occurs when I pull up anything from the drop down menu during the flight. I vaguely remember someone describing a similar problem with their ATI card? What's wrong? What do I do? Any help would be great.
