I don't need a new display yet, but I tell you I almost pulled the trigger on this deal. Take a look at the specs, the price, then tell me this isn't the best display for FS and other games. I can't imagine more impressive specs at this juncture. Just thought I'd pass it on to those seeking a new display. Here is the link to the sale price $699: http://www.shopmiracle.com/samsung214t.htmlNoel---------------------Samsung SyncMaster 214T LCD Monitor. This is interesting.I hooked up the wonderful Dell 2405 monitor on Saturday morning. Did a wonderful flight from the FS-Freeflow Bermuda to Boston Saturday evening in the Level D 767.Sunday, I did Boston to the Flightscenery Providence in the Dreamfleet Cardinal. What I'm finding now is whenever I change views, i.e., go from 2d to VC view OR to spot view, my pc reboots itself.I'm using the latest ATI Catalyst drivers, 5.10.I also have the same issue at a default airport with no addon scenery, i.e., KCVG. The problem only seems to manifest itself with addon aircraft and no specific aircraft. I've experienced the problem with the Beechcraft 1900D and the Aeroworx Beechcra…

The last few times I have flown in FS9 I have lost all textures after about an hour of flying. It starts with flashing polygons and then the VC loses it textures and finally all the scenery textures are lost. When I exit FS9 and then start it backup and load a flight all the textures are still gone. When I shutdown the computer and then restart and start FS9 up and load a flight the textures are back (sounds like a possible memory problem?). All of this started happening when I installed new Omega drivers for my Radeon 9700 graphics card. Could this be the problem? I'm running a Dell computer, P4 2.5, 1G of ram and a 128m Radeon 9700. Below is a screen shot of my probl…

I have read on various forums that disabling the hyperthreading feature within the intel P4 can actually make FS9 run smoother. Now, please bear with me being that I am not very computer literate, but does anyone know if this is true? And if it is, how does one go about disabling this feature while running the program. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am experiencing a video problems with heavy flashing of objects and making FS9 impossible to use. I don't know what happened. It was working O.K. and the next thing when calling up FS9 it started. I'm using an ATI x800 XL AGP type, WIX XP SP2, ASUS P4P800-E, P4-3.4 EE CPU, 1g Corsairs Twin PC4400. I had been using all PMDG, FE, UT, UT Terrain, and just about all the addon sceneries. When I started getting the flashes and could not get rid of them I decided to delete the entire FS9, Reformat and install a fresh FS9. After cleaning all the graphic drivers I installed the latest Catalyst 5.10. And to my suprise the flashes still there. My graphics card appear to be working…

Hi all, I wanna pick all you hardware guru's brains...I've been running fine for a good while, using my fairly cheap junk. I'm running a cheap fx-5200-128 on a P4clocked at 3 ghz. Normally, I usually run in the 20's, and out in the boonies, almost always peg the 30 mark, which is what I set the limit at. When I started my startup flight, I would usually do about 28 fps, atthe large airport I started at. Good nuff for me...Ok...The deal... I had a HD crash a few days ago.Not my boot drive, but the drive I had my sim , rivatuner, etc, on... No real biggie...I go to the store, get a new drive and plop it in. Reinstalled the sim, patches, etc..At first I thought all was norma…

I use the UK VFR Photographic scenery and, as with the majority of Photographic scenery, uses a vast amount of bmp's, each - 43kb in size. The VFR scenery comes in four volumes, each split into three folders as follows -VFGM_PhotoSceneryVol1_1VFGM_PhotoScenery_Vol1_2VFGM_PhotoScenery_Vol1_3What I have done is condense the twelve scenery folders containing the bgl's into one scenery folder and the twelve texture folders, each containing an average of 14,000 43kb .bmp's into one texture folder. The twelve texture folders also contain 1000's of Autogen .agn files that have long file names ie:010331321203232an.agnSome of the texture folders contained 22,000 files including 6,…

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I'd like my next rig to be an Athlon, and Emachines has some seeming bargains for Intel too. What I like about Emachines is much of the price of a Dell plus upgradeability. I've noticed even their 512 MB can now go to 4 gigs for example. The T6524 comes with AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024 DDR (512X2), ATI R5482 chipset, ATI Radeon Express 200, 128 shared video memory with PCI-E X 16 slot for upgrade. AC '97 audio 6 channel, 1 DVD R-W and a 48 speed CD-ROM.That's the one thing that worries me. Does that mean it won't take an AGP vid card? I don't care as much about the vid card that comes with it, FLY II runs fine on old stuff, FS9 is CPU dependan…

I have a fresh install of XPHome with SP2 installed, fresh install of FS9 (patched)My motherboard is a Foxconn 661FX7Mf-S with 1024 ram installed ,P4 3.2Not sure what version Chipset drivers ??. Hi all, my HD just a dump last night and wont boot anymore...I have done alot to my FS and have always backedup a bit of stuff. I was planning on creating another back soon, but I guess not soon enough. I get this error message when booting my computer:Reboot and select proper devise or insert boot media in selected boot devise and press a key.Anyway, can I just get another harddrive and make the unbootable one a slave and tranfer my fs files to the new one?...I heard that could be possible. I have alot of stuff that I cant risk loosing. Is there anything I could do? Im getting depressed about this. Yes I know, its just a computer. Thanks,Bill

I realize this may be a silly question, but I would love to have it definitively answered.I have an NVidia 6800GT and -- as most NVidia owners know -- there's a display applet you can use with it that lets you set Anti-aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, et. al.In that applet, you can also use something called "Application Profiles", which ostensibly let you create specific settings for each particular application/game you use. For instance, I have a "Flight Simulator 9" profile which is linked to the executable "FS9.EXE". I'm certain most Nvidia users in these forums have something very similar. However, here's my question. I have been running FS9 in Windowed mode for som…

I have an analog yoke + Thrustmaster rudder pedals, and they are connected to my SB Live card gameport. I see that when I unplug the cable from the gameport, FS9 frame rate increases by about 3-4 fps. Is there a way to avoid 3-4 fps loss when plugging the yoke/pedals in?I have a PIV-3.2GHz, 1GB ram, ATI Radeon Pro 9800-128Mb, Win XP.Thank you

I finally have found a way to get good performance from FS9 on my mid-range system. And also here's a very important FIX for users of older Radeon video cards. Here is what I am running:Dell Dimension 2400Celeron 2.4 GigATI Radeon 9250 PCI Video 256MB (no AGP slot in MoBo)Onboard soundNo addonsWith AI traffic at 100% (yup, 100%) and PAI traffic installed I get frame rates in at least the high teens at all but the busiest airports. At KORD or KDFW or one of those very busy ones my FR does dip below 10 with AI traffic in view, especially with some clouds. A little trick I learned is to keep AI at 100% but uncheck general aviation at these very busy airports (who needs C…

I recently used my father's 24" Dell LCD that he uses for CAD stuff. Simming is absolutley amzing looking on it. I only fly from the VC, but as far as I could tell I could get used to the small amount of stretching (I normally sim on a 17" laptop widescreen, so I'm used to the stretching). Your rig would definately be able to run it at those resolutions. If I had the dough I would buy one for my sim.

An oppertunity has come up through my employer to be able to purchase a computer without paying up front for it. It is a Government Initiative to make it easier for everyone to have access to a computer by making the purchase tax free with other "incentives"....a bit simplistic I know but suffice to say that the company buys it and you kind of "lease" from the company who take a certain agreed amount of your wages every month for 3 years.Anyway enough "waffle" my question to you is which of the following specs would be best for using FS9 on :-Option 1

Can anyone make a compelling case for bothering, what with my non-pci express board. I am ok with performance as it stands, but again, I may be able to sell my 6800 into a machine built for a fried with less gaming aspirations (but clearly some) than myself. Plus, he is not an FS user per se. I am very happy with IQ and stability with my 6800, as I had freq "issues" with my 9700 Pro in several of my fav games (brother and i both had the 9700 Pros and both had occasional lockups, and a few other things).Noel

Greetings all,I'm on the market for a new rig; comments are most welcome.Motherboard: We'll seeCPU: Athlon XP64 3800 or 4000 RAM: 1GB or 2GB (It seems in most games there's no difference)Graphics: Hesitating a lot.. ATI X850XT, nVidia 6800GT or 7800GTThe rest: Good enough...I know there's quite a bit of a price difference between the lower end of my choices (i.e. XP64 3800, 1GB and nVidia 6800GT) and the higher end (XP64 4000 and nVidia 7800GT), but I don't want to end up paying several hundred (Canadian!) dollars on a higher end rig that would only translate in 1 or 2 more FPS. For the GPU, my real hesitation is between the X850XT and the 7800GT; any ideas? I'm aiming fo…

Hello All, I was wanting to know how much some of you are overclocking two video card's.I have a 9800 Pro which I am currently running at Core 438.75 and Memory at 364.5 -- I'm wondering how much more some of you have OC'd this card with 'stable' results for FS.Also, how about the X850XT? what sort of OC' have you accomplished on this card? I use the Omega drivers, presently the 2.6.75a units and have had NO problems to date. Thanks in advance.Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T.
