System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc

I was thinkinging out of curiosity-If i were to make a separate partition for flight simultaor, would i get any noticable increase of frames? My current system is512mb ddr2 ramx300 pci-e graphics cardintel p4 3.4 with h/t.right now with payware planes, i get around 20 frames with everything maxed out. I have the omega drivers and i did a little tweaking to get it to look a little better. Could i make up for this about 5-10 frame loss by using a separate, fs only partition?Thanks guys

My C Drive needs to be replaced. This drive contains my Fs9 Directory; I have made a Backup using PowerQuest Drive Image 7. But I have been told that it cannot be used to restore Fs9 to my new HD because the new Registry will not recognise it. Can anyone confirm this for me, please? I have just checked out my present Registry but cannot find even a trace of Fs9; well, there is a reference to Ken Salter, I guess this must be FSAutostart.KenSomerset, England

I've had the Rumble Stick for a couple of years now and am basically happy with it. However, with Christmas coming I was looking for some ideas. I thought about the Evo Force.One thing I don't really like about the Rumble is that the joystick movement is a bit "notchy" compare to my (even older)MS Sidewinder. My best freind owns a computer store so Im able to experiment with the latest greatest hardware. Currently have 330MHz PC with 8MB Matrox Millenium 3D card. It doesn't cut the mustard with FS2004, NZ 20m mesh, NZ Topo and the rest of NZ photoreal scenery. Have to upgrade but have limited funds. I'm trying to pinpoint my problems with texture flashing once in a while, sometimes enough corruption to make me quit the game because I can't see. This usually happens when looking at a big layer of clouds or a big city. I upgraded by video card fan and CPU fan, got a new case, and temperatures are more normal than they were, my CPU is running hot though, but I guess the FX-55 just does that.Could my problem be bad RAM? I have 1 stick of crucial memory, DDR4000, but they don't make my stick anymore... any help would be appreciated!!

Maybe this is a silly question, but I'm wondering, if you have a really good system (let's say you can get 50 or greater FPS without problems), what effect does setting the FPS limit to 25FPS for example do? Does the CPU just say "ok I don't have to go faster so I'll do something else?" ..Does it run cooler? What actually happens?I'm only wondering this because I set mine at 25FPS thinking I would "reserve" some CPU processing power for other things but then I wondered, what is it going to do just sit there?Hope this isn't a stupid question..Jeff

Hi,I just build a new machine and I am having problems getting the video drivers to work properly. It's an MSI 7800GTX card with a FS2004 system ported from my old laptop (where it worked fine).I deleted the fs9.cfg in order to build a new one. I tried a number of drivers, including the latest ones and some older ones (77.77) however, what happens is that very shortly after I get into the system the computer would hard free (need to reset). About a week ago I decided to try and upgrade the drivers on my video card, and the result was frequent CTD's. I rolled back the drivers to the original version, and subsequently had a couple of CTD's in the next week. Now I decided to get a driver cleaner, clean everything out and reinstall the orginals.
