I have a new PC with no game port (onboard sound)...I also have the older CH Products Flight Yoke Pro, and Pro Pedals, that I would like to use; they were built for a Game Port connection. I understand there may be USB to Game Port adapters that would help me get some use out of my older equipment in XP.Also there is the suggestion to load a PCI Sound card, disable the sound and use only the Game Port....Any suggestions on either avenue? which is more successful??Sound Card - not looking forward to having hardware on my PC that might cause issues...would prefer a simple PCI Game Port only card (I still have the CH ISA Game Port card, but that is useless)USB to Game Ports …

I have a simple presario that I am reconfiguring to work with flight sim 2004; and am concentrating on the upgrade of the current onboard video (ATI Radeon X200 express) to a Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO 256MB DDR3/256bit/12 pipes.I want to confirm my assumption that this will greatly improve the rendering of FS2004...my main reason for the upgrade is to run dual monior for a home system for SOHO/Video/images/surfing...but while I am at it I want to be able to use FS 2004 with decent frame rates.at least I will be able to move some of the video effort off of the main CPU and MB RAMI can get the card above for ~$135....the system is AMD 2.0GHz, on an MSI Socket 939 MB, wit…

Hi everyone,I've been simming for 15 years, and the last two have been full of tweaking, tweaking and tweaking---and I'm incredibly anxious, because I can get a newer system in about a week. Currently I have a:Celeron 2.5 mhz750 megs of ramNvidia Geforce 5500fxI want a system that will reasonably keep fps above 20, maybe 15 in the worst case. I never fly in vc, nor do I use simflyers scenery.I'm on a budget, so the options I have are limited to an AMD 64 3xxx, or possibly a AMD 64 4000-4200 X2. Is there a tremendous difference in performance between the 3500-3800? Is it necessary to go up to the 4XXX, or will fs run fine with the 3's (I can upgrade later for fsX)? The s…

Hi Guys,It happens flight after flight. While flying the PMDG's B737 aircraft. After a few hours of flight, BAM: CTD.Well I finally got tired of it and completely removed everything. I reformatted my hard drive.I have a question, I think it can be done, but I never tried anything like this before.I have a 74 GB, 10,000 RPM, 8MB Cache SATA Raptor as my C drive.I just purchased a 150 GB, 10,000 RPM, 16 MB Cache SATA Raptor for my D drive.I installed Windows XP Pro on my C drive and installed all my needed programs.I want to install Windows XP Pro on my new D drive and install nothing but my flight sim (FS2004) program and add-ons.I want to have the option during boot-up to …

My Saitek X45 works fine for a while then eventually, within 10 minutes or so, I can only achieve about 80% power from the throttle.A quick check of the calibration confirms this. The colored bar only moves about 3/4 up.BUT- If I unplug the Saitek "usb" from my computer, replug it back in, its works fine but after a short while will again only go 3/4 power.Any ideas why disconnecting it makes the throttle operate properly but only for a short while? All other functions on both stick and throttle work correctly. Just the throttle.

I was running FS2004 in SLI mode and notice that the menus show black in half the screen and the bottom tabs don't show. Also the picture of the Cessna in the menu garbles up. This is in SFR mode. Once I'm on the runway the graphics aren't corrupted. Single GPU mode doesn't give me the menu corruption. The drivers I'm using are the 81.98's.

I just upgraded my old Maxtor 80GB (IDE) with a 300 GB Seagate (SATA). No other hardware has changed. I used the included Seagate cloning software, and all seems to be successful.Except for FS9. I won't go past the boot screen. I really don't want to re-install, but will if I have to. I figure it's possible one of my addons is causing the problem?Anyone know a fix short of a complete re-install?If helpful, I have the following installed:DF Baron and BonanzaFS Genesis terrain (the old freeware)Aeroworx B200RealityXP FLT and GNS530A few other payware and freeware goodies I can't think of right now . . . Thanks in advance!

Hi all,I seem to have found the cause for stutters on my still new machine. It's the disks! I have two fast 160Gb SATA Seagate Barracudas running in RAID 0 configuration on an ASUS A8N5X (nForce 4), Athlon 3500+ and Radeon X850XT PE. 1gb Corsair RAM and Win XP Pro, SP2.I still have my old, cluttered FS9 installation on an older 80Gb disk which is full to the point of spilling bytes across the room, but when when I run FS9 from there, I have smooth preformance. No stutters, nothing, while my new installation of FS9 stutters like mad on the new disks. It's almost unflyable, it's that bad.So, what to do now?? I read on the Internet somewhere that there were some problems wit…

I posted the following as a response in the general forum but thought it might be worth posting here because, as far as I can recall, it hasn't been mentioned before.-------------------------------------------------------------------There is an option in XP to disable the Last Access Timestamp. According to Microsoft 'Disabling the Last Access Time improves the speed of folder and file access.'This access can be disabled by entering the following statement in the command prompt:FSUTIL BEHAVIOR SET DISABLELASTACCCES 1or by changing the registry keyHKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlFileSystemNtfsDisableLastAccessUpdateI've had this set for a long time on my PC without notic…

Hi everyone,I had to do a recovery a couple weeks ago, and re-install all of fs and the addons. I'm getting a new system in a week, but I still wanna fly in the interim, but I'm having problems.I have a 2.5g celeron with 750mb ram, Realtek ALC202A stock sound card, and geforce 5500fx.When I reinstalled fs...3 times in all, I got an error message saying it couldn't detect a sound card. I checked the drivers, updated the drivers, reverted to the originals with no luck. Now, I do have sound, but it pops ticks and stutters (almost like it's singing to the beat of my HD). I changed all of the options in my directx settings under sound hardware accelleration, and same with …

Amd Athlon 3200 2.2 ghz 512 ramI have been having hard freezes. Just installed fs9. So I am a new user. I have flown for hours at a time and had a crash in as little as 1 minute. I tried a ATI 256 graphics card and the freezes increased. It would fly for about 5 to 10 minutes then freeze, consistantly. I have been working with a computer shop and he just insalled the Gforce 5500 also a new clean hard drive. Things are working well he says. But he says the next step is to reformat and return my original hard drive in the system. I hope this works.I worry about when I bring this home and start to load my other software back into the system. I will take it slow so …

Hi all, I'm recently having problems with my flights automatically going to my flight log. All I did was make up a new log from the default to make it more personal. Now when I end a flight and enter the pertinent info it's not there when I go to where the file is located. I have to enter the info manually.Any help is appreciated.
