I was wondering what would be the FORUM's general opinion on their Screen Resolution and Refresh Rate for WinXP in general and FS9 in particular ...?... and what is the general f/rate impact of a higher SR and/or RR?I'm also confused on what is the best MipMap setting for a relative high power PC and if you go to your DISPLAY PROPERTIES and for example your Performance and Quality Settings for a GeForce Card you will find a lot of settings under Advanced settings (i.e. AA, AF, Force Mipmaps etc etc) and could someone give some guidelines here please ...?Just curiousTerblanche:-smile12

I have two new cards, PNY 6600 and BFG 6800 GTOC. I built a brand new system, ASUS A8V Delux MB, AMD 3500+, 1GB DDR 3200 Dual Channel Kingston, and 1 Maxtor 40G HD. I already run a 500wt PS and 2 old 15" monitors (ASTVision7L) and Viewsonic, running Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade SP2. Yes, I know... I have a 19" LCD coming soon, but have been stuck on this problem. Here's the problem. After turning on switches or rotating knobs in MSFS and then hovering over any instrument giving a panel id popup, those switches or knobs (and even instrumentation) will momentarily appear back to their previous position untill the panel id goes away. Also if you open a popup window …

Is there anyway to input audio from a tape and burn it to a CD or DVD disk on a computer either useing XPPro or Nero Express provisions? I have some tapes I recorded that I sure would like to duplicate on CD's. I assume this could be done with a conventional CD recorder hooked up to my multi-sterio system, but don't know if it is possible implementing a computer burner. Thanks:RTH

My hardware as follows:AMD 2500, ABIT NF7 mobo, 1024MB PC3200 DDR RAM, 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro (Cat 5.13) WinXP SP2, Thrustmaster Fox 2 Pro joystick, TrackIR 3 Pro.I'm finding that with smaller aircraft in FS2004, when I'm taxiing, my Cessna 152 yaws left like its supposed to but when I rudder right to compensate even just a little bit, I overcompensate and end up fish-tailing down the taxiway. What settings in my controller config should I make to fix this? Is this a "small aircraft" issue? I'm guessing I should make my null zone as small as possible and increase the other slider. Your help is appreciated. Also, I guess this is a scenery issue, but I've downloaded some …

I'm looking around for some good anti-spyware applications. I looked at PC magazine /ZD and noted this:http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1879982,00.aspI too am looking for that "holy grail" that does wonders without affecting performance. An endless task :). Can anyone recommend or otherwise this product, or any others?Thanks- Bruce.

Sorry for the off-topic, although it is computer related :)I would like to hook up a webcam to my new system, and do an internet hookup with my daughter (we both have webcams already). Before I go and do something I'll later regret with my newly built system (which is going like a rocket and very stable), I have a question on any good substitutes for MSM.In the literature that comes with the webcam, instructions are to use it with MSM, and I've done this before so would have no questions about how to do that. But I keep reading about the security aspects of MSM, and wonder what there is out there that could substitute (be installed on both ends of the proposed webcam se…

Q1) What effect does overclocking your graphics cards 2D accelerator have - does it improve graphics at all? Anyone tried doing it?. I'm a bit confused because I thought the 3D chip accelerated 2D and 3D graphics.Q2) Does performing a 2D clock have any benefits for fs9?Q3) If so are benefits seen in only windowed mode, or can it improve, perhaps specifically, the 2D or VC panel gauges when in full screen mode?Q4) When you perform a 2D clock should it be the same value as the 3D clock? I recall coming across something about hardware damage if the 2D and 3D clocks are not equal, and comments like "don't mess with the 2D acceleration" etc. :-eek

Hi,I have the PFC (or atleast made by them) yoke and USB rudder pedals. The problem is although windows detects them they come up disabled due to a device error. I can uninstall them in Device Manager and rescan and that sometimes works but sometimes I have to try 20 or more times. Anyone seen this ? I did contact PFC but they could not get it working either. I do have GoFlight USB modules which work perfectly.System:ASUS A8V MBAthlon 64 4000+1 GB Corsair RAMATI Radeon GraphicsSoundblaster Audigy 2 ZSThanks,Pesi

Greets, all:See this picture...The anomaly(ies) you're seeing in the pic above is not due to JPG artifacting; that's how it looks in sim.In short, my cloud textures at night are really looking kind of poor lately. Here's my situation: I recently purchased a new Viewsonic VX924 19" LCD monitor to run as my primary display; I then relegated my Dell LCD to secondary display status which I now use to place panels, GPS, etc. on. Ever since I did this, I've noticed my night cloud textures look...well... rather yucky (pixelated, I believe is the term). There's no smooth gradation to the night textures, and I can't figure it out. Even the sky doesn't seem to be smoothly grad…

I've been flying my Dreamfleet A36 and Baron 58 planes a lot, loving them with one exception. In VC mode, when hovering the mouse over a gauge or switch, the instrument panel flickers and even duplicates itself over the main instrument panel. Does this sound like a video driver problem, memory issue (512 mb) or anything else that someone has discovered? Thanks in advance.

I've done something really stupid. I'm not exactly sure what but after downloading and installing a virus checker (Avast!4.6) and following some setup instructions about redirecting away from my ISP pop3 and smtp server to get transparent -on the fly- checking of emails, I now find that when I attempt to run Outlook Express I get the error message " Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.dll could not be initialised. Outlook express may not be installed correctly " When I cancel that message another message immediately pops up "Outlook express could not be started. The application was unable to create the internet account manager. "I used Add/remove programs i…

I just had a GForce 6600 256MB card installed. I get flickering in the various screens as FS9 loads. I also SOMETIMES get flickering when in full windows mode. The flickering is in the form of a white line at the very top of the screen, and the lines flickers. There is no such problem when in the windows mode.Presently I have the card Antialising (AA) set at 4x, and Aristophic flitering (AL) at 8x in the card. I have the AA shut off in FS9.I am not familiar with Nvidia cards. I would appreciate suggestions as to what performance settings I should have in the card with a powerful system.A friend suggested that I set the card to "Application Control" for both AA and …

Microsoft has just released Netframe 2.0.My question is do I need this software in order to run the ATI video drivers? (new 6.1s)It seems that they are only supporting the CCC version of driver verses the older CP (control panel).Yhe install instructions from MS did not say to remove Netframe 1.0 and the update 1.1 whch came out 2 days ago. I expected the version 2.o was to do away with the older 1.0. Am I right or is this just another MS way of putting useless junk on our computers?Terry

I am thinking of getting a separate SATA HD to dedicate to the FS with separete OS and everything. Has anyone done this and to what results? I have a Dell XPS gen2. What brand of HD would you recommend? Would you partition it and put the FS on the other partition or leave it puting all my fs stuff on the intact HD no partitions? Anyother recommendations would be appreciated. CheersFlygirl

Well, I'm frustrated. I got a track IR 4 for Christmas, but the device is not recognized. Registered at their forums, but I have yet to receive a password so I can post. Called their phone number in Oregon, no one answering, left a message. I get a red light and flashing blue lcd, but the Track IR software says the device is not recognized. After installing the software, when I plug it in, it says that its a USB 1.1 device, 2.0 would be better. On their forums someone else had this same problem, but theirs worked fine. I have SP2 installed, have reinstalled the track IR software, including their latest drivers with no luck. I'm feeling stressed out. UGH!Any ideas…

any help please -- since installing nVidia GeForce 6800 GT card, FS9 stutters/flashes/etc. when loading. Several quick flashes, then usually loads, but after choosing aircraft, several more flashes, and may or may not quit while flying. Uninstalled and re-installed FS9, same problem -- think it's the graphics card. Any similar observations or recommendations? thanks.

I've been browsing the forums and looking around for some info, but I still have some specific questions regarding fs2004 and a new PC. I've read a lot of technical info out there, but what I am more interested in is a guess on how much of an improvement I will see in fs2004. Anyway, here is what I have now:Dell XPS (original) from 20033.0 ghz Intel HT1.5 GB RAMATI 800 xl 256 mb video card AGPNow, overall I get decent performance, but lately some newer addons are really pushing my system to the limit. Also, the system is going on 3 years old, so it is getting time to replace it. One of my big blocks is that my PC lacks a PCI-e slot, so I'm kind of stuck with upgrading…
