My flight simulator has constantly been crashing to desktop and this modult (g2d.dll) was the cause each and every time!I have googled this dll in google and read every post on every forum related to this dll for FS2004 including here and in flightsim.com forums and other places as well (i.e. microsofts FS2004 site) but none off them have a definete way to solve them and all the posts were fairly outdated!Does ANYONE have a solution to this problem?? The crash occurs soon after take-off.1.I have read that it could be due to video drivers, so I updated to the lated v81.98 nVidia Drivers (using GeForce Fx 5600 256mb)2.I have also read that overclocking should be off, it is…

I've heard only good things about these pedals, but not necessarily from any AVSIMmers. I wanted to ask if anybody here is using them and if so, are you happy with them? If not, why not? Thanks!JS

I want to get a new video card for my computer. I want one thats about in the 90-110 $ range. I want one that will deacrse blurries and at the sametime increase detail in game (ground textures, landclass etc....) and FRAMESRATES It has to be PCI since my computer can only use that. Check my specs. Just to let you know, my computer has integrated graphics. So I am hoping this new video card will help alot. After that I will upgrade by buying 512 more of ram, so I would have a total of 1 gigThanksAlexhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/141399.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

I'm planning on getting either 2X17' or a 19'LCD. However the prices of CRT's have come down a lot. Perhaps someone can answer some questions I have.Q1) Do LCD and CRT offer the same image quality?Q2) What is the minimum spec of LCD that I should look at for using with FS; and in particular how important is the display response and what speeds should I be looking at (e.g. below 12ms)?Q3) Are any particular makes better than others (in the UK)?Q4) Where is a good place to get good prices on LCD's and CRT's in the UK?

Dear all.I have just received my new pc.ASUS A8N-SLI with an FX-57 CPU in it.I have been so busy installing flightsim stuff on it, that I haven't even connected my speakers. When I tried to do it today, I heard nothing.I opened the RealTek Audio control center, and I found out that when I plug my green jack into the lime contact, then the plug in detector scans, and there is a fault in the connection. There is a red X and it says that it is not connected correctly. How can this be??Any advice would be greately appreciated!Boaz...

  10. This was discussed a few months ago. Later on it was said that the tool can create problems. I installed it recently and the shimmering is reduced, but I get odd horizontal black lines drawn across the water. Not a good overall solution for me.There was a long thread posted here previously.I was wondering if others had experience with the tool or some other ATI tweak that would reduce the shimmering.Greg

  12. I know that it seems to be common consensus that Vid card drivers should always be updated as new ones are issued by the manufacturers like Nvidia and ATI. But my question is, is this really a good idea and why?For example, let's say that today I build a new computer, install the drivers that come with the Vid card and FS2004 runs fine.Next week another set of drivers comes out - they have obviously been created for a reason - maybe something to do with a newer version of the vid card or even for a brand new type of card. Maybe they were issued to fix some problems in other games that I don't even use. So - why install them ?? Some people report wildly ambitious FPS incr…

I run 20,1' Syncmaster LCD at its native resolution of 1600x1200x60Hz.It will not allow for setting higher frequency though. What are the best settings for ATI cards, so it does not take such a heavy performance penalty at this high resolution.I run it at AAx4 and AFx16 as someone once suggested as this seems to be the best solution for all ATI cards.ThanksDom

I have just about had enough of CDT's. Almost all my flight end suddenly in a CDT or a frozen computer. I have removed duplicate textures, scenery errors, duplicate AFCAD's, defraged memory and hard drives, bought "Ultimate Trouble Shooter" and removed as many resident programs that can sensibly be done. I have also cleaned up my registry with "Registry Healer" and incorported all the "tweeks" I can find in the posts in this forum. Still CTD's so I re-installed FS9 in a separate partition - a brand new install. I removed all traces of FS9 on any drive prior to the re-install.First flight in the default cessna from Seattle and sudenly a black screen and frozen! Nothing ha…

I'm not sure if this question may have already been answered on this forum or not, but I'll take a chance on asking...I've recently placed my installation of FS2004 onto its own partition on my hard drive, and for the most part, FSNavigator appears to work normally (i.e., FSNavDBC, registration, etc.). However, what I can't seem to be able to do is activate any of my add-on scenery (as the 'OK' button remains disabled).Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I'm suspecting that it doesn't work quite right if it isn't installed to the C:/ drive.

Hi,I have a rather weird problem with my setup. When flying the FS (and only then) and entering densly textured area (such as commercial dense scenery or sky full of clouds - so lots of objects to be rendered) I get those LCD monitor flashes. They are not like 'render to texture on' kind of flashes when the whole screen goes black for a split of a second, this is more like a colourful, reddish horizontal lines flashing for half a second or so.It's a pity I cannot catch it with a screenshot utility as it is too rapid and too random at the same time.It only happens in FS and I run it windowed mode.I was using DXT clouds, but also tried the 32bit clouds with Render to Texture …

I have a Gateway 700X - P4, 2.53Ghz, 1Gb RDRAM, nVidia Ti-4600. Although I am mostly happy with my FPS, clouds are the killer. I have the smaller files, etc. Coverage is set to medium. If I clear the weather, frames go up. Have a ton of AI and it doesn't have hardly any effect like the clouds do.Is there another nVidia based card that would have any beneficial impact. My mobo will only support 4X AGP. If I could stay above 13-15 fps with clouds I would be happy!Rick

Hi hardware guys,I have a question regarding my current configuration and the results of a possible gfx card upgrade.Current config:- Asus A7N8X DeLuxe- AMD Athlon XP 2600+- 2GB DDR400 - Asus V7100 SDRAM Gfx card (A real oldy)- 2 x WD 160GB HDD- CD-RW and DVD-RW driveAs long as I do not use too much detail FS9 runs OK. But when I increase the level of detail, the framerates drop below 5fps.So, now for the big question: Will an upgrade of my gfx to an "ASUS N6800XT/TD, 128MB" on AGP 8x will yield to significantly better fps results in complex environments?Daan

Hello all,I recently bought the PMDG 747 and have been taking it out for a few flights, and I've been thinking of a way to get better frame rates. My system specs are below:Pentium 4 3.04 GHZ 519 processor1024MB RAMIntel Integrated 64MB Graphics Card259W Power SupplyNow, I am most probably going to upgrade my graphics card. At best in the PMDG I get 19-20FPS with all settings configured to give best frame rates possible. THis is obviously down to having pretty poo graphics cards. Bearing in mind I have a 259W power supply, and I dont want to bottleneck my computer, or overclock it, what do you think would be the best graphics card I could upgrade to (AGP or PCI only, not …

This question is in for our daughter who is visiting and has a problem running Pocket DJ software. When she tries to run the app she gets an error "There is a problem with the skin you are using, either the ActiveX controls have not been registered or there is a missing file".I'm unsure as to whether I can download "ActiveX" from somewhere (MS I presume) and re-install it; or should I reinstall DirectX? I've done some searching on ActiveX and all I see in responses to others with this problem is complaints about IE.....Strangely, she has other users set up on her PC and it runs OK on their accounts- so I assume that this is not OS related? Thanks for any answers, and sor…
