I just picked up this video card , I just updated from a Radeon 9550 256. I see a huge improvement just in FPS with default settings. I'm running a 2.8 P4 with HT , 2 gig 2700 DDR ram , and the new vid card and getting FPS around 23 steady. At some of my add on airports I get around 10 -12 which is still better then the 4 or 5 I would get. I would highly recommend this video card if you can not upgrade to 1800 pro or others that can run you 300-650 dollars . I paid 179 for this one but you can find it for 150.00 here is a link to the card, its a great buy. http://www.ati.com/products/RadeonX1300/Products.htmlThe video card is offered as PCI express or AGP confriguration…

Hi all,I have FS9 running on my AMD machine for about 2 years now. Here is the spec for the machine.AMD xp 3200+. BFG 6800GT, 1 GByte of DDR RAM. Win2K sp4.FS9 is the only game I installed on this machine. I also have UT USA, AS5, and a few addon planes. The most recent install is Manhattan Scenery from Aerosoft, and that was about a month ago. Starting 2 weeks ago, I have this strange issue that when flying, the simulation will pause for 5 or 6 seconds every 30 to 60 seconds, and the FS9 pauses, the sound goes repeating. Then, my USB joystick disapear from FS9. Now, instead of those 6 seconds pauses every now an then, the system just freezes. Anyone had this experience b…

Well ive been using fs2004 for a while on my old nvidia fx5200 card which ran the game reasonably well with average qualiy settings, however i recently decided to upgrade my graphics card due to the nvidias poor perfromance in other games. I went for an ATI Radeon 9600XT 256mb AGP card. In every other game i have there is absolutely no problem, the graphics are silky smooth and miles better than the old fx5200. I hadnt used fs9 for a while, and not since i got the new card, so i was surprised when i tried to play the game yesterday there were some problems.FS2004 loads up ok, however if you close the game and try to run it again, absolutely nothing happens, even thoug…

I am pondering the purchase of a Gateway 21' widescereen LCD for using in FS9 VC mode. There are some much larger LCD TVs available around here, but are not advertised as monitors. Are these good? I think their native resolutions are relatively smaller? meaning they would look stretched (resolution-wise not circular reproduction-wise) at that size screen (32"). And they rarely mention response times with the TVsallen

I hope one of you real smart folks can help. I've surfed the web extensively and asked numerous repair techs but have gotten conflicting information. My system is:Dell Dimension 8400 (3.6ghz)w/2GB RAM; Nvidia 6800 PCI Express Video Card (Duel heads)w/256MB memory; running 21" and 17" CRTs (I run separate windows in each monitor not a stretched view); CH USB Pro Yoke/Pedals and Throttle quadrant; 9 GoFlight Modules; TrackIR w/vector graphics. QUESTION ONE: What is the best way to add a third monitor to this setup without sacrificing performance? My computer only has one PCI express socket (being used), no AGP graphic socket and several available PCI sockets. My understa…

FYI, I recently upgraded my video drivers from ATI Catalyst 5.9 to 6.2 in order to help debug an issue with another 3D sim. Unfortunately, after installing the 6.2 drivers, FS2004 terrain, autogen, & VC textures would initially load correctly, and then would suddenly and irrevocably drop to a much lower resolution, i.e., they became very blurry. Neither refreshing the scenery nor cycling through the views would restore the textures to their full resolution. Uninstalling the 6.2 drivers and reinstalling 5.9 drivers immediately fixed the problem.Anybody else run into this? I

Hello,I have read many post about the shimmers that people are having with ATI radeon cards.I also get these and have tried alot of tweaking. Including reducing the mip mapping slidder in FS-9. Now I know its old, but FS2004 wont run alot of the add ons I bought for FS98 back in the day. I decided to get out my old disk and install it, but for some reason it lags really bad, while FS2004 runs fairly well on medium High. And by lag I mean fraps is recording my FSB at 10-12.My System Specs areWindows XP Pro SP2Pentium III 1000mhz384mb SD-ram PC 133Radeon 7000 DDR PCI 64mb80GB Maxtor Diamon MaxNow another question is, I used to run the game at 1024x768x16 but now it only lets me run at 1024x768x8, is there a way around this problem, or is my system just to new?

Lately I have been experiencing and unusual problem with FS9, after I have been flying for one and one half hours to two hours I begin to lose my textures. It begins with a flashing of any text I have on the screen such as the longitude and latitude, air speed, altitude and wind direction and speed that is in the upper right corner of the screen. Then I loose all the texture in my VC followed by losing the instruments then all the airplane textures and finally all scenery textures. After trying to figure out why this is happening I discovered that if I pause the flight and go into FS9 options-display-hardware and lower my screen resolution from 1280x960 (which is what …

Hi everyone... I'm confused about VGA and SVGA specifications when it comes to monitor cables and extension cables for a multi monitor FS setup. In the questions that follow I will use "VGA" to mean whichever is more recent VGA or SVGA. Q1) I assume that all modern CRT and TFT displays are SVGA, however I have seen some cables advertised as either VGA or SVGA (these are more expensive). Will my choice of VGA or SVGA cable effect the allowable display resolutions or over all image quality?Q2a) What characteristics of a monitor cable make it more resistant to interference (is it as simple as having a think cable)?Q2b) What is roughly the longest length of monitor cable that…

Just invested in a Pentium D 930 syetm with 2Gb of Ram and a 256Mb 7800GT but I'm a little concerned about this "dual-core" thing in relation to games that don't yet support d-c tech.DOes this mean that in effect some games will only harness oneo f the cores and whether this will be at 1.5Ghz or at th 3Ghz speed (as aoposed to 3Ghz or 6Ghz respectively).Sorry for the noobish question. Been out of the CPU buying market for about 3-4 years.

I recently got a pci radeon 9250. I used to have integrated graphics. This new video card make fs2004 slower. For exampa, when I press Alt durring the game, it takes 15 seconds for the meu to load. After I exit the game, the computer is slow as crazy. For example when I try to minimize a window it take 10 seconds for the window to move to the bottom. I decided I have to reinstall the video card. I searched at ati.com and did not find anything on how to reinstall the card. How do I reinstall it.ThanksAlexhttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Hi-I have a newer Dell XPS Gen5 with an Audigy SB 2ZS sound card running in Windows XP Media Edition, SP2. My problem is I cannot communicate on-line with ANY headset mic, and I've tried several. On Teamspeak, I'm coming in 1x5, very quietly, according to users there. Dell will not respond to my emails, but one technician said that there was a know issue with this sound card not supporting a plug in mic. I've tried adjucsting all possible volume settings as well. Anyone ever her this? Any ideas if a driver update or reload might remedy the situation? Thanks for taking the time to read my post.http://www.graphics-free.com/animations/tr...ges/plane_6.gifAlex ChristoffN562…

Hi Folks,I've had a new Hewlett Packard desktop (a1350n) for about a week and it's fantastic. But, I did have a problem after changing monitors which may have caused FS9 to be corrupted and an internet connection shortcut to be wiped off the desktop.I had FS9 running extremely well on the new computer using the lcd monitor which originally came with the computer. Then I decided to exchange the original monitor with an upgraded one from HP. I installed the upgrade monitor and checked it after booting. Here's what I found: First I noticed that the shortcut for "internet connection" was missing from the desktop. Then after setting the shortcut up again, I went on …

Has anybody purchased their full cockpit? Seems pretty reasonable for the money. Although, I wish they had an USA distributor, because the shipping is rather steep.I know it is just the base construction of the cockpit with no instrumentation. It also appears like you have to add something like Project Magenta (which is pretty pricey) for the glass cockpit.Any thoughts?Barry

Fellow simmers:I just want to pass on my observations and a possible fix to the ATC.dll CTD/error message. This is the first time I have encountered this error and it occurred while flying a MS flight plan from KLAX-KSFO in my LevelD767. The weather was bad with 5 mile visibility. I also had RC4 loaded and no FS9 ATC. At the Robie waypoint, FS9 crashed and the error msg indic the ATC.dll was at fault. I fly this route almost daily and have never encountered the error before. I did receive a gaugesound.dll error on Feb 16th which caused a CTD. But I never received this error again even though I continued flying from KLAX-KSFO. I figured it was a fluke. A search to…

I know this is system dependent, but have to share this as I know how much frustration I went through. A while back I was having problems with blurries--the scenery would get blurry for no reason and if I refreshed the screen it came back clear. I spent months trying to fix it and tried about every optimization for FS9 that is out there. While it didn't solve my problem, I did learn a lot. Then I did 3 or 4 things, including installing the Intel Application Accelerator, and the blurries went away. I wasn't sure what had fixed it, but didn't really care as it worked. Of course, a few weeks back the blurries came back and I had no idea what I had done to fix them. Then I'm …

Long story short... I let a friend borrow my PC last week. He said he updated the BIOS driver and a few other things. NOw that I have it back, it doesnt seem to run as fast or efficiantly as it used to. Sometimes the #### thing just crashes and resets without any warning. I have tried contacting the person that did the "work" but he wont return my calls. I have just increased my RAM from 2 x 512 to 3 x 512. My system recognises the new RAM which is well within the MOBO limits and all my programmes run well except for FS9. When I attempt to load FS9 I get the following error message:Your computer does not have enough memory available to run flight simualtor. The programme will now quit.Grateful for any help if anyone has seen this before.John R
