System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc

I've read enough about FS9 speed, that I have gathered that the only effective enhancement to speed up the program after tweaks, etc. is to speed up the CPU. I have an Intel HT 2.8GHZ on an 800MHz BUS ASUTek Mother Board. I could upgrade to a 3.2GHz. I don't know if anything else is possible with this MOBO. I already have 1.5GB or RAM (came with the computer, Sony PCVRZ30CG). Is there any noticeable improvement using this approach or should I just wait and eventually buy another computer in a year or so, expecially with Vista looming on the horizon?Thanks,Bruce

I recently insatalled an EVGA 6800 GC CO video card, and last night, I also installed the new nVidia release version 84.21 WHQL certified drivers. Prior to the driver upgrade, I was using the 82.12 drivers that came on the CD with the adapter. I have a dual display configuration with a CRT as primary and a LCD flat panel (in analog mode) as secondary display. I am using nVidia DualView mode, both displays set for 1600 X 1200 X 32, but with different refreash rates (85 Hz on CRT and 60 Hz on LCD). ASrock dual motherboard with an AMD64x2 3800, 1024 corsair ddr400, ATI 850pro (agp) and an old Augigy1 sound card.I have another quesion for you guys... are there any specific settings I need to adjust to get the most out of the dual core cpu? I just purchased a USB external hard drive to back up my 2 internal HD's. One is partioned as C D E F, and the other is G (flight sim only). With all the additions I have, I want to backup in case of an internal drive crash. What would be the best way or the most beneficial way of backing up.......just doing a backup of the G drive with backup software, or copying the whole G drive over, or both ways if there's room. If the G drive goes and has to be replaced, would like to be able to transfer from the external to the new internal and continue flying......is this possible?Thanks!Rick

Hi, I recently installed an MSI Nvidia FX5900 on my computer (P4 3Ghz, 1Gb Ram) and when flying I get a lot of blinking pixels on the image.I'm using the latest forceware driver, I've tried changing antialias and anisotropic filter values but the problem persist. Question, I want to upgrade my memory (Dual Mem config).. but looking at all the different types out there, kinda drive me crazy. Some people recomend to get Corsair, and other say OCZ, now this last one i checked the reviews and it seems to be good, however kinda pricey, so would "High performance" memory mean a great boost over "Generic memory"..? And im not specific to fs, want to use for overall system boost for all types of games.

Usually they relate to an issue I've encountered using my favorite program...FS.2 days ago, I tried to E-Mail (OUTLOOK) my "proofs of purchase" to the email address given for BEV Textures, so that I may obtain my Spring Texture Free of charge. I received my Dell 24" LCD monitor today. First thing to try was FS9 ....I was totally blown away with the quality of the graphics running at 1920x1200. Widesreen makes the experience that much better. The stretching in 2D mode is acceptable. Using Tracker Pro in VC mode I thought I was flying. (much cheaper than the real thing) Anyway if you get this effect out of FS9 using a wide screen imagine FSX.Andrew

Since a couple of days my computer reboots when I am in Flightsim. It Always happens quite fast after loading I am usually still at the departure airport. What can it be I have it with different planes at different locations. Besides Flightsim I run RC4, AS6, flightkeeper and Fspassengers. Do you think it makes any sense to get Win XP 64 now when Win Vista is coming. Could Win XP 64 offer any advantages over Windows Vista?Or is the best idea to save the money and buying a Win Vista license when it comes?

I am so disgusted. Have a 6800Ultra vid card. Just installed the 84.21 drivers in the hope they would solve a problem I have had forever. Everytime I load a PMDG Boeing aircraft, during the aircraft load I get a chopped up screen with several "pictures" of the aircraft and a load time that takes about four minutes. I have tried every possible setting in the vid card to correct this but no joy. This is the only aircraft that has this issue. All other planes load correctly and quickly. Have tried all kinds of drivers, including the ones from the Tweaks r us site. Any help would be very welcome.Regards,Joe

I just received my newest purchase:Alienware ALXFX 60 Processor w/ dual core4 gigs of Ram250Gs Hard Drive(2)7800 GTX w/512 mb (SLI)21 inch LCD MonitorWater cooledEtc.....I just installed FS2004...It runs great...I have the Fps @ 30, however it us like a wild horse, trying to do more. At 30fps, the counter doesn't move, so I guess I could raise it.I am still tweaking the system to my liking...it will probably take a while. I haven't added all the add on's to FS yet....That will take some time, as I have a lot......If your intersted in how I like it in a few weeks, I report back.....Stay tuned...Paul

I have been with nvidia cards for yonks. Just switched to a lowly 9550/250ddr. Apart from getting it tuned properly a MAJOR PROBLEM IS IT WILL CAUSE A REBOOT OF FS9 WHEN MOVING BETWEEN FULLSCREEN & WINDOW MODE.It is also SLOW when accessing the FS9 MENU and back again.Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

For the last two days, my internet access has been a bit strange.Google is my default browser page, and it will not respond at all. Some sites will not come up at all either, for example other forums, underground weather, USA today etc.Other sites work, but are extremely slow. For example some other forums, flight simulator payware sites, USA today, etc.I don't think it is my high speed cable supplier as some other browsers and sites respond instantly. I have an A8N motherboard which is currently running an AMD 64 3700+ CPU. However, I see that this board will also accomodate dual core CPU's (FX and X2 I believe). Do I need to re-install Windows XP when going to dual core, or is it just a CPU replacement.
