Would like to replace my Radeon X600 PCIE 256mb with the card below. Would I be able to see any improvement. eVGA e-GeForce 6800 PCI Express 256MB DDR Video Card w/HDTV & DVI-I, cost $129 at Zipzoomfly. For the price it sure looks good. Appreciate any comments to help in this decision.http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=322752Thanks,Carl P4, 3.4Ghz, 1GB, ATI Radeon X600 SE HyperMemory

OK, here is the situation. I am a very fortunate simmer when it comes to my hardware. I tend to have the latest and greatest new hardware thanks to being obsessed with Newegg.com.Well thanks to that, I tend to end up with extra Hardware quite often. Typically this hardware ends up in either a back up system or a system for a family member or even worse a closet. Well right now, all of my family members have systems and I have my backups built but I still have extra hardware.I am prepared to offer some high end hardware at 50% off to help out a fellow simmer who might not be able to afford this stuff paying retail.I am really doing this in the hopes of helping out a sim…

Hello EveryoneI hope someone can help. I just bought a new computer and tried to install FS2004 but it wont run. First here are my specsAsus A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboardAMD64 FX 554 Gigs ramXFX 7800GTX 512 MB video card.I installed FS2004 with no problems, updated with the patch and also updated my graphics cards drivers, and when I try to start FS, it looks like all will be well, but then it closes unexpectantly, just about the time it looks like it will be going to the main screen after the splash screen. Any suggestions, BTW I am also just using 1024X768 screen settings.ThanksMike

Is there anything I can use to backup my PC with FS9 files on it? I have about 25GB of FS now and it occurs to me that if this ever crashes, I will lose many hundreds of hours of personal hard work with specially engineered FS files, etc..I saw a MAXTOR external backup device today for about $140 and wondered if I should buy that. I want a simple device that is idiot-proof and doesn't require configuring, partitioning, etc.Appreciate any advice/suggestions, thanks!JS

Hi. Is anyone using a 9800 Pro in two monitor, horizontal span-mode without CCC? If so, how? I wanted to try the Omega drivers, so I installed them. But found out that I cannot run left and right outside view/ span-mode-horizontal without Catalyst Control Center. So, even though Omega drivers tells you not to install CCC, I did anyways, just to have Horizontal-span mode. Seems to be OK. Of course if there is another way, preferably without the CCC hogging a quarter of my systems resources, I'd be happy if someone could tell me. Thanks.

I installed tray tools 1.0.5.824 to check it out. I have a Sapphire 9600XT 256mb AGI card with 4.12 cats and also CCC installed. When I attempt to start FS9 I get an alert dialog telling me I have insufficient video memory and I can only run in software emulation. When I click OK I am back to desktop. Any idea what's going on? I was surprised that I couldn't find any FAQ or other help on tray tools, just a forum on guru3d, and searching that I found nothing that looks like a FAQ.Athlon 64/3500MSI K8N Neo2 w/ 512x2 PC3200 DDRWinXP Pro sp2scott s..

My 15 month old HP Pavilion ZD8000 laptop died on me a couple of days ago. The graphics card cooling fan failed and the graphics hardware overheated. Lots of funky coloured lines and appeared on my screen with all sorts of corruption, and any attempt to switch to 3D graphics results in the laptop freezing totally. Much to my chagrin the system is out of warranty, so I'm going to replace it.I want to keep the cost below

Hello people!I have now full control of my old (3 yr. old Vaio) laptop. I decided to set up a LAN for use with WideFS. My desktop has a A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with two built-in network adapters (nVidia and Marvell Yukon). One of them is connected to my DSL line. The other--to the laptop. The laptop has a wireless card, and a Gigabit network adapter (cable). The wireless card, certainly, is for the Internet, and the cable from the desktop is plugged into the Gigabit adapter in the back. Now, this is the issue--I have a home network already setup with file sharing and everything between laptop and desktop through the wireless router that I have. Now, the cable LAN, afte…

My machine dates from 2004 or 2003 and it has the card it shipped with, an nVidia GeForce 4400 with 128MB RAM. The computer has a 2.4GHz processor and I have plenty of onboard RAM (about 1.5GB). So my question is whether I stand to gain anything in terms of speed (i.e. fps) by upgrading to a newer video card. Note that my picture quality is fine with the current card, no complaints there; I'm just wondering if it is a limiting factor in the overall fluidity and speed of FS9. Thanks for the help.---Will

I'm wondering how many of you folks actually go into your fs9.cfg file after updating your video card driver? I seem to recall somewhere on this board a message about clearing out the video card section of the fs9.cfg, or doing some sort of edit on the file after an update but am wondering if its really worth it?My ATI 9800XT 256MB card's driver needs to be updated and I am thinking ahead before I do anything. The darn control panel on it seems to forget my anti-aliasing and other settings after I reboot the PC.Thanks, happy simming!http://www.lemosnet.com/misc/gpilotsig.jpg

I'm looking to run a PCIe and a PCI card in the same PC but I want to estimate the power requirements as I only have a 300W supply at the moment. Apparently there is a web site that gives this kind of information and allows you to interactively check different hardware setups. I've tried looking but can't find it, has anyone come across this site?

I'm starting to see lower fps and more stutters as denser autogen and addons like UT Europe are becoming more and more abundant, so I'm wavering about upgrading. I have a Dell XPS3 with a P4 3.4GHz HT, 1GB DDR2, SATA RAID0, and ATI X800 XT PCIe. After buying a large flat panel and jacking up my resolution to 1600x1200, I've been thinking about upgrading my graphics card to something like an ATI X1900 XTX or Nvidia 7900 GTX.I've read articles where the conclusions are that with a decent mid to high CPU (not top of the line) you can get benefit from an upgraded GPU and more/faster video memory. Is there enough difference between my X800 and the newer cards in FS9 to make…

If you ever have a problem like mine, maybe this helps :-)When I started my PC this morning, I was in big trouble.Nothing worked: my BIOS was beeping, and after loading Windows XP every application I started immediately was terminated (including the Start button. I was really lost, rebooted several times, and could only come to one conclusion: a virus on my PC.Now, how the h*** did a virus enter my well-protected PC ??After hours of seaching the Internet on another PC, I couldn't find anything resembling my problem, and I felt I had no other option then re-installing my whole system. ARgggggg... :-(BUT, when I went under my desk to disconnect my homebuilt cockpit (nothing…

I am planning on setting up a RAID 0 configuration with my two hard drives. I currently have a Western Digital 250MB SATA (with FS9 and all my add-ons installed) and I have purchased another identical drive. So, apologies if this is a stupid question, but once I have added the second drive with RAID 0, will I have to re-install FS9 again to get the benefits?ThanksMalcolm

Hi mates, I have had some problems concerned with FS9 and anti-aliasing. I have an ATI Radeon 9800xt card. I have to switch the anti-aliasing at the ATI control panel to get it working. If I just use the option in the FS9 graphic setting screen it just don

"OK! I'll turn it down, honey..." I'm tired of repeating that phrase to the wife. It drives me BONKERS that I have a nice 6.1 surround sound speaker system, but at this point need to look at exploring options for a nice headset.I'm looking for something analog (not USB), and something that supports the "surround sound" effect. My budget is $100-200. I think I remember something about the Medusa? Any other ideas or insight would be appreciated.Hopefully, in a few weeks, I can respond to the wifey, as I pull off my nice new headset "What's that honey, I couldn't hear you!!!"

HiI'm at last hoping to get a new system to run FS9 (not worrying about FSX yet!). I've been struggling with a P4 2.4Ghz with 512Mb RAM and a GeForce 3 Ti200 for the past three years, which actually runs FS9 not too badly for what I want it to do - just GA mostly (I'm not interested in AI or masses of scenery except the UK VFR packages and airports). There is a Dell system I am interested in which is a 3.4Ghz 800 FSB 2Mb cache with 1024 RAM and either a NVidia 6800 or a 7800. Do you think the 6800 is a good card? I'm sure it will be better than what I have got already but should I go for the 7800 or a different graphics card?Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks. David.

I have 2 External Drives and 2 DVD players (1 is a recorder). I have assigned the DVD drives the letters 'V' and 'W' and the external drives 'J' and 'K'. That works fine! However, when I turn off the computer and reboot, the DVD drives will have the letters 'J' and 'K' and the externals 'L' and 'M'. I changed them back using Disk Management. But once I reboot the DVD's revert back to 'J' and 'K'.I am using WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL SP1.Appeciate any help. Thanks.Abe
