Will using (2) ATI crossfire cards improve FS9.1 and FSX? I have read somewhere that the crossfire drivers are the key to using (2) cards not FS9. Is this correct?ThanksAndrew

I recently replaced my Radeon 9100 with a GeForce 5500 -- best PCI (not PCIe) card I could find. (There is a PCI 6200, but I couldn't get it to work reliably in my -- maybe underpowered -- Dell system.)What, other than overclocking, can I do with RivaTuner that will specifically help my FS9 perfmance? Thanks for any suggestions.

I am considering the purchase of a new controller. I am somewhat new to simming (4 months) and am hooked. Currently I have a Logitech attack 3. It works but I think that I want to step up to something more. I don't want to brake the bank so $100 is my limit. I looked at both the saitek X45 and X52. I know that there are better controllers but I don't think that I would not feel confortable spending more than that right now. I was wondering if anybody here has used either and what are your thoughts?

Could anyone comment on this query pleasePresently run a Sony 19 inch CRT and a Sony 17 inch CRT trinitron monitor on my ati 9800 pro video card - get quite acceptable quality - frame rates target set at 25 fps and sliders 'generally' set at about halfway. Running PMDG 747-400 makes the setup 'chug' somtimes.Run both monitors at 1024 x 768 x 32I have the chance to pick up a Sony 21 inch tri..CRT monitor. Could the 9800 pro handle the 21inch/19inch combination and get acceptable results as outlined above??????Comments from anyone with experience here would be very much appreciatedHave a good dayBadbiggles2

  8. I have followed various threads on the AVSIM forums about widescreen monitors for some time and finally just decided to buy one last week with a discount and a coupon ($780) direct. It is breathtaking. It runs in 1920x1600x32 using a Radeon X850 XT PE and the card powers another DELL 1801 fp for FSNav and instruments (1280x1024x32). Performance is incredibly good, far better than I imagined. But most interesting to me is how there seems to be no visible distortion of the gauges in most a/c in the 2-D view. The Cessna has slightly oval gauges but the jets look extremely good and pretty much normal to me. I was expecting to see some weird stuff and have to compromise ov…

  9. Hi guys,I think my five year old (!) MoBo and Processor have finally reached the end of their useful life. I am tired of FPS in the teens in detailed sceneries. I would be curious to hear people's recommendations for a new board and processor. What will provide me with the smoothest simming experience and will allow the greatest future flexibility? Ideally, the budget should be around $800-1000. But feel free to suggest your ideal choice. I will consider spending more, if you can persuade me that the incremental benefit is worth it. Many thanks in advance.Mishahttp://www.commerciallevel.com/base/suppor...46supporter.jpg

Hi all,I was wondering if some kind soul out in FS-Land could help me with the settings for an XFX GeForce 6600 256MB card (this is the "Plain Jane" one, not the GS or GT).I recently upgraded to this card from an ATI Radeon 9200 128mb card. With the old card I had a nice smooth transition from the sky to the horizon (using the ATI "Table Fog=0") line in the FS9.cfg file. However, with this Nvidia based card, now there is always a haze it seems, and the aircraft has a circle of white around it on the horizon between the sky and horizon that I didn't have before. This has my stymied...I've tried changing any setting I can think of in FSUIPC (registered ver 3.60), ActiveSky …

  12. My 3+ year old Dell is starting to go. Last night one of the fans failed, and the fans seem to be special size. I couldn't find one that fit right. Anyway, it has been time to get rid of this for awhile now. I am looking at building my own PC, but I don't know a lot about it. I used to work in PC support, but that was many years ago. I am good with the simple stuff like swapping out cards and memory, but I am clueless when it comes to what processor works on what motherboard, etc. I read sites like Toms Hardware, but most of that stuff goes way over my head. Anyway, my goal is to just build a PC now to replace my aging Dell (see specs below). I am not really worr…

Hello my friends out there, first I want you to know im not complaining, but at the same time I am, I find myself always tweaking to get the best frame rate I can, and im wondering if this is not a big con these video card folks are putting on people, I am so tired of wasting time on trying to get the best running system to enjoy the game that it is not fun anymore, I have been buying vid cards back when they started the big race on whose got the best card out there, and I was running the flight sim way back in the 98 days, always upgrading coms and vid cards, and you know what the frame rate has not been that impressive to me. Lets do the math in my opinion if you go out…

So rather than fixing it ($130+) I am thinking of going the LCD route.I have a P4 2.8, 1.5 GB ram, pluse a ATI9800 pro 128MB Video card.I checked out a few Lcd monitors at a local Monitor depot and here is a list of the ones I could be interested in. Hi everyone!I have an Asus Radeon 9800XT graphics board, and it came with two very effective little fans for cooling. But recently one of those fans started doing some strange noise. I already cleaned itm and made sure the noise wasn't due to some dust on the fan.The fan seems to be working normally, but the strange noise is very distractive and unpleasant.I am looking for a replacement fan for the Asus card. I'd like it to be a 1-slot solution, like the stock one, and easy to install (as I have never replaced a fan on a graphics board or CPU).Do you guys have any idea? I already had a look at the Artic cooling fans, but it seems to me they all take up two slots. Thanks in…

Hi all.I was hoping some of you guys might be able to advise me on upgrading my FS PC. First, some background. I've just done a full reinstall of XP Home and FS9.1 as a consequence of reduced perfomance in graphics. The rig is under powered to begin with (see specs below). The average FPS is 10, the video card does not allow for water reflections and I'm unable to use heavy weather conditions due to the impact on frame rates. However, more recently FS began to freeze during start up and in top-down slew mode with large areas of ground flashing black. Also noticed a speckling of white pixels and distorted image in the XP 'Welcome' interface when switching on the PC. So, I …

I currently have a GeForce 6800 GT installed. I still have some frame rate issues and expereience stuttering for a second or two when changing views. I am looking at the new GeForce 7900 GTX as a possible upgrade. Is there that big of a difference between the two?I am the kind of guy who uses add-on aircraft, to fly into add-on airports, while running Acive Sky and Ultimate Traffic too. So, there is a lot going on!I currently have an AMD Athlon 64, 3200+ 2.20 Ghz, with 1MB of RAM.Considering the 7900 is just over $500, I am wondering if it is worth the upgrade? Thanks for your replies.
