I hope the moderators allow this post to remain in this forum - my question is about FSX, hardware and flight simulation in general.It is obvious by now that the new FSX will allow cross platform usage. ie it will be able to be used by people with PCs with the usual flight controllers and also Xbox . But the question is - what controllers will be able to be used by Xbox? Or am I confused - is the Xbox the actual controller?If FSX is a cross platform piece software programme - why will it have to have a PC setup with DirectX 10 and also Windows Vista OS, if it can be run satisfactorily with Xbox. I have color-corrected my LCD monitor using the Spyder2Express. It's made a tremendous difference and looks far superior to the way I had the monitor set up originally.My problem/question is that whenever I open FS9 it reverts back to the uncorrected settings. Any idea about how I get FS9 to accept or recognize the newer, color-corrected display?Thanks!

My ATI 9800 pro card has 128 MBs on it and a Gig on the PC. I use Auto start. When I pan over 90 degrees or so in VC or spot view I have these pauses which is longer than a stutter. Am I correct in thinking that it is the 128 MB on the card is the root cause behind the pause and if the card had more memory that I wouldn't see these pauses? thanks

Hi. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I couldn't decide where to put it.I believe one of the things that causes my system to stutter it when it adds ai aircraft when I cross in to a new sector.Using Filemon, I noticed that FS is regular searching all of my aircraft cfgs - probably looking for a specific aircraft. That is when I get stutters. Could using the O&O defrag by name speed this up? If so, you do you recommend I proceed?

Anyone has any idea how to do this?The options that the jumpers give me is Master (1 drive), Slave and Cable Select, but there doesn't seem to be a jumper position for Master with Slave.Help please :).Leo

Have looked into my BIOS settings and have found one that gives me the option to top performance, at the moment it is set to Disable is it OK to set this to Enable. I am using Win XP SP2, Intel Pent 2.66 GH, Have 2 Gig of Ram and have a Geforce FX 5700 graphics card. Would it cause any problems enabling Top Performance. Any help greatly appreciated. I have a a ch yoke and wanted to add a push to talk button on it. I have a registered copy of fsuip. So I added the button from a tutorial I found but when I use it I come out really weak to atc. But if I just use a key on my keyboard they can hear me find. My volume is turned up full any suggestions?

I just purchased the Ch Flight Sim yoke. How do I set the throttle, prop, and mixture so they control both engines in an muli-engine aircraft. Right now they are only controlling one side. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Not completely satisfied with the twist functionality of my Cyborg Evo stick.Could anyone here suggest a suitable and readily available gaming wheel. Would I notice a significant difference in performance in FS9 and FSX between an Intel dual core D930 (3.0 Ghz) and a D950 (3.4 Ghz)? There's about a $120 price difference between them. Is there a utility out there to determine the speed of my RAM? I know how much RAM each stick has. Each stick is 512, but I'm not sure about the speed of each. I believe one is DDR 400 and the other 333. I'm running in "dynamic paging mode" or something like that, since the speed of the 2 sticks differs.Another question I have is if running with two different RAM speeds is detrimental to performance? I have an AMD XP 2400 right now, so it's at 266 mhz to the memory. I can upgrade to an AMD XP 3200 as I have 1 gig PC3200 and the mobo to support it. Also, I have a MSI Radeon 9800Xt. Is it worth around $150 to upgrade this thing or should I just upgrade to the 939 world?

Hello,Last night I was running my anti-virus software (AVG Free Edition) on my system and there was a power failure in my area and the scan was abruptly interrupted.Now, everytime my system (Windows XP) boots it says is has to run Checkdisk on partition D: (where my FS9 folder is :-( )It detects no errors or bad sectors but keeps checking at every boot...What should I do?Is there a way to stop Checkdisk from running at boot? I keep getting a complete system crash when I either select aircraft type, flight planner or Fly now. I get a rapid clicking noise followed by a reboot. I have deactivated the crash-auto reboot in the hope of getting an error code. I get nothing just a blank blue screen. I have tried to start up in safe mode and run the sim from there but it just says that FS( needs a component that is not there...presumeably the graphics card. On the odd ocassion that I manage to get it to run it seems to take ages between selecting an aircraft and anything happening and also the same with flight planner. I have a xfx 7800GT 256mb and I have absolutely nothing to complain about it given I never overclock my vcard. First of all, isn't 7800GT pretty much off the market right now? You go to places like newegg and tigerdirect and they are pretty much gone. 7900GT has replaced it. However when I was picking my 7800GT, EVGA was the most popular and they had more than one 7800GTs with different freq. XFX wasn't the fastest by over all it had the best reviews on newegg. The problem with EVGA is that more people got defective cards than other brand. Just went to MS to get newest DirectX end user runtime update released 4/06. Downloaded fine, then installed fine, maybe 25-30 MB, but after after 100% installed -> (paraphrase) "Error: Failed to install. Look in DxError.log or DirectX.log in Windows folder for explanation. I have no DxError.log or DirectX.log in Windows folder or anywhere else that I can find using "explore" or "search".
