I successfully created a backup archive with Acronis and I now have "mybackup.tib" on my C: drive (I think this tib file is an image of my whole C: drive although I am still unclear about whether it's everything I need to do a full restore if everything crashes.)My question now is: do I just copy that entire .tib file onto my MAXTOR One Stop drive that has just arrived?Appreciate any guidance here, thanks!JS

Hi,I realize that the upgrade question is relative to my system and the price of the upgrade. Currently my older Ati 9800 is providing good FPS and visuals once the textures load. I can get the card for around $210 US. I have to stay with AGP as my MoBo will not support PCI Express. I'm looking for faster load times for my MegaScenerys and hopefully some improvement in "the blurries". I have tweaked the fs9.cfg to minimize the blurrie effect but could use some additional improvement. As always any good increase in performance is a factor. Any suggestions appreciated. Hello,I'm trying to decide which multi monitor setup would be best for me and my FlightSim Hobby? I've done numerous searchs about the topic, but I'm still feeling unsure and under informed. At first, I was thinking of a 3 monitor setup for external views ( panorama ) and use my current 19" Samsung for panels display. I know I would need a second GPU. My system is a P4- 3.73EE 1066 FSB, 500 Gig Raid-0, 1Gig Pc-2 5300 Ram @ 667mhz. SLI MoBo, nVidia PCI-e 6800 GPU.Now I see widescreen format monitors are out, so I'm wondering if I can get the full external view by using 2 20.1" widescreen LCD's instaed of three 19", than use my current 19" as the panels display. I know I'd…

Fellow Simmers, Hi I need some good advice from some guru's with some good knowledge on this stuff. I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Shuttle AN50R Motherboard with 1 gig of 400mhz ram still got a slot available thinking about throwing another gig in. And no I have the other than the 939 chipset(UGH). They got me at the store. (LOL). For Hard drive I am running an 80gb 10,000 rpm raptor. My Graphics are ok but I really think they could be alot better. For Graphics card I have a GeForce FX Nvidia 5500oc with the 256mb of ram. As for any idea's with my system what would be the next step to go toward's? Video & then grab the last stick of ram…

Well, my wife wanted a new flat panel LCD for her computer so I ended up having an extra montior available and I decided to put it to good use.I ordered a PCI video card online (can't find them local anymore) and installed it along side my AGP card and it worked great!I actually got a slight increase in performance in MSFS after adding the third montior. I think its because there is and extra GPU to handle the workload.More than two is the way to go!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/151851.jpgHappy Simming!Scott :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy Gamming System Specs: (Built this one myself)AMD Athlon-64 3000+ (Overclocked to 2.35ghz)Gigabyte K8NS nForce3-250 Chipset 8x AGP Main Bo…

I have a LogiTech "Wingman" Force Feedback Joy Stick and I am unable to decrease the sensitivity. All the settings in FS9 are turned down as far as possible and still the sensitivity is so high that it is impossibleto fly manually. Any help would be greatly apprechiated. Maybe I shouldget a different Joy Stick? Thanks, SDT

Hi,I just formatted my pc and installed everything again, like the drivers for videocards (latest of Nvidia), essential programs, FS9 and also for the first time the latest drivers for my BIOS. Now, as I read in a post here, I've configurated my BIOS, and what I've done is set the graphics aperture size to 265Mb instead of 64Mb as it's on default...Normally that woudn't cause any problem since my RAM memory is 1024Mb DDR.Now, after installing the FS9 as normal (complete install) and the latest FSUIPC, when I try to fly with an airplane (doesn't matter which one, this occured first with the PMDG 738, but afterwards also with a cessna of FS itself) the flightsim suddenly st…

Is anybody out there using the Matrox Triplehead To Go Module? As far as using the FS9 software package is there any increases or decreases in performance? Lastly, how does FS9 look on three monitors; is there any misalignment between the monitors?ThanksTom

For those of you using setups with PCIexpress graphics cards, have any of you tried the following for multiple monitors with FS2004:1) running the setup with a single PCIexpress graphics card and seperate PCI or AGP cards 2) running two identical PCIexpress graphics cards unbridged and using both for multiple monitors (say 3 or 4 monitors)3) running two identical PCIexpress graphics cards unbridged and using both for multiple monitors AND additional PCI or AGP graphics cardsIf the answer to any of these is yes, what is the setup? Anything special needs doing to the BIOS for example? My confusion after searching the forums is this:I am unclear if I get a computer with PCIe…

I recently upgraded my PC (A8N motherboard) but kept my older IDE hard-drives which are both working well. However, it's time to look at more HD space so I'm thinking of buying a new SATA drive and using one of the serial ports available. My question- will there be ay compatibility issues in combing IDE and serial drives concurrently? Any down-sides that I need to know about? My OS is on a partition of one of my IDE drives (obviously), which is C:. I'm hoping that the new serial drive won't want to bump the others to be C:, but will tag along with a greater partition letter than my highest one currently. Thanks for any answers.Bruce.

Hi,before I go choogling off to Ati for advice I was wondering whether some knowledgable soul here could help me with a little problem I'm having.Due to the mysterious dying habits of motherboards I had to (just yesterday) build myself a new (almost) computer. I was running a 478 socket with a 3.2P4 and a X800, 2GB ram and FS9.1. All was well until the fateful morning when upon punching the ON button on the pc all the pretty little lights came on..except for the monitor. Not even the BIOS screen. My assumption: dead mobo. Whatever...Not finding a decent 478 replacement I decided to forgo this year's holidays and build a newer,'better' pc.Many hundreds of euros later I…

Guys,I own a Logitech G7 cordless mouse and have had Logitech mice going back at least a decade. I've had a problem in FS9 back to the first days with it regarding my mouse and just assumed it was something everyone was dealing with. Then I finally, after all this time, did a search and didn't see any topics discussing this (might have been a poor search) so.....In FS9, using the Windows Default cursors, the mouse cursor is often impossible to find. It disappears as it should after I stop moving it but then most of the time when I do want to move it, it often doesn't reappear properly and seems to get "lost" behind elements of the various panels and such. This even happen…

Hey, all.I am hoping to get an answer here as to is anyone else has been able to make the CH Flight Yoke and pedals work on Vista. The Setup works great on my Windows XP install, but my Vista doesnt seem to be able to even detect they are there.Any ideas? FYI I checked the CH site, but they have no resources available for Vista yet -- hoping a user has found a fix somewhere, as my FS looks and works GREAT in Vista -- I just now need controllers to do something besides crash the plane because of keyboard controlling LOL.Chris

This question is for those lucky people who use the Dell 24" widescreen display with FS9.I'm tempted to get this TFT after all I've read about it but I'm concerned that the very high native resolution - 1920*1200 - would kill performance on my P4 3.0 / 1Gb RAM / 9800 Pro system.Do you run FS9 at the native resolution and if so are the frame rates acceptable? Or do you run at a lower one to keep the frame rates reasonable? If you run at the native res what are your system specs?Do we need such a high resolution for FS9 and are the current range of graphics card capable of delivering acceptable results at 1920*1200?More than one question, sorry, but you can appreciate this …

I have been reading through different forums in the last couple of days about Nvidia and "AA", scenery problems (black boxes...etc), so right now I am looking into getting an ATI. I won't have enough money to buy an awesome video card for my system right now, so I need something that will be okay/nice until I upgrade at a later time. I'll be getting an AMD 64 Dual core (SLI) 2 GB of Ram, ASUS MB. Whatever Video card I get I will most likely be stuck with it so I need positive comments. Thanks J.R. Duda

Hello all, On my latest computer (a Dell) I found that it runs a VB program *much* slower than my old program, although of course the Dell has a better spec. I was shocked to find that the program runs at only about a third of the speed compared to the old computer. Windows Task Manager shows that when running FS and other games the CPU is running at between 50 and 60 percent. On the old computer it is always 100 per cent. Google revealed two tweaks to increase this: a batch file that calls up high CPU priority. You can also set high priority in Task Manager. The batch file worked in that after running the game Task Manager indicated high priority. There's just one ti…

Going to buy a new computer in the next few weeks, looking for a video card that will not give me any problems with FS9. Don't have much money at this point for the video card so I can't afford an ATI xt1800 series (I'll upgrade later), so I was looking at NVIDIA 6 series since the 7 series has problems. Does anybody have any suggestions? MB will most likely be an ASUS SLI series, with AMD dual core processor. Thanks J.R. Duda

Hi All,I have now got a 160GB drive to install and replace my main 60GB Windows XP drive with FS9 installed....and this is where i've come to a problem.I've got 24gb in my FS9 folder (and its still growing!!) and, if i can help it, i'd rather not have to re-install things such as add-ons, freeware aircraft and such all over again. It's worth noting here that the add-ons installed include Ground Environment, Active Sky, Flight Environment etc. that have regitsry keys associated with them.Is it at all posisble to a new install the 160GB with XP and FS9, THEN copy the contents of my existing FS9 folder, inclusive of add-ons, to the new FS9 install on the 160GB drive - or wo…
