Scratch that, I figured out what to do. I overrode the FS9 software settings by forcing the 7300 global graphics settings to their max in the NVIDIA device manager. I get a black box in the aircraft selection screen, but I get crisp graphics and a steady 25-30 FPS with great detail and an advanced texture pack. Not bad Nvidia for a hundred bucks.

Hello Fellow Simmers, I wonder if anyone can give me some advice as I keep experiencing a crash to desk top and being presented with the 'Sorry FlightSim had to close...send report certificate' for my troubles. The report:"C:Documents and Settings.............Application DataMicrosoftFS9fs9.CFG.txtC:Documents and Settings.........Application DataMicrosoftFS9dxdiag.xmlC:Documents and Settings..............Application DataMicrosoftFS9scenery.cfg"This has happened two days in a row now but in different world regions. Yesterday it was whilst checking out VOZ and tonight it was flying near Doha. Both times I was flying the PMDG 737. I have PMDG 737NG, GE, & VOZ (unvoz'd du…

After reading this forum for hours, I think I'm just more confused on both dual core and SLI technology. Straight to the point: Does FS9 currently benefit from either technology? I understand long term potential, FSX, Vista, etc, but what about FS9 in its current state? With dual core in particular, is it a benefit with running add-ons like AS6 or Radar Contact along with FS9? Thinking about an upgrade and just trying to balance current cost vs. performance vs. not wanting to wait for Vista (blatant impatience :-roll).[p class=dcmessage] BradKELP/KBIF http://home.elp.rr.com/bmbanister/BannerSig_BMBanister.jpgAMD Athlon XP 2600, Asus A7V600, 1GB PC3200, NVidia GeForce 6800…

Good morning everyone, First off, i want to appologize to the moderator at the tips and tricks forum. I posted this over there and did not read the rules. OK, my new system is not performing like I want. I notice that in the virtual memory settings area, my system is set to let the memory use system cache. The default is programs. I think my tech must have changed it when the system was built. I read in the tips and tricks, that when this setting was changed, the system would not reboot at all. That person was trying to change it from the default (programs) to system cache. Mine is the other way around. Can I change this back to the default without any harm? The last thin…

Hi All,apparently I am missing a codec to let me play any DVDs on my laptop, whatever version of windows media player I use, either 10 or the new 11 beta, I still get this error.I think the guy's over at Microsoft must practise vague, as it does not tell me what codec is missing.I have tried to google etc and find something, but I am even more confused now than ever.I didn't want to start and have to get quick time etc, as I must admit I like Media Player, especially the new version 11.any help would be most welcome, thanks,

Anyone have a 7900GT or GTX? I'm curious as to what settings have proven optimum. I found I had a lot of shimmering, until I turned up the "Image Settings" to "Very High" in the advanced settings. Shimmering vanished. But mid- and distant scenery is more blurry than I like . . . Changing those doesn't seem to have an effect. I upgraded my PC around the start of the year to an ASUS A8NSLI, AMD Athlon64 3700+ (939), and 1GB of PC3200 RAM. My video card is an NVIDIA 6600GT (128MB).I have been thinking of getting myself into a better (potentially) position for FSX. While I know that not many people know the technical requirements (and those that do can't tell), I'm making a bold assumption that the features of SLI and dual core might be utilized, and so I'm starting planning on a similar system to what I have but with those additional attributes. The A8N is already SVI capable, but I'm looking at using the advanced A8N SLI-Deluxe to give me 16* for SLI, rather than the 8* SLI / 16* for one-onl…

Blurries & JaggiesThis just may help some frustrated 'pilot' who's PC monitor/monitors has/have just developed a bad case of the blurries and jaggies. For the last few days my 2 screens either went blurry or developed a bad case of the jaggies- you would think you had turned Anti-Alias... off.Re-booted computor - same problem - reinstalled drivers -same problem, etc etc etc I was going to reboot the PC out the window.Solution - I went to the back of my computer set-up and lo and behold I found that the monitor connections had come loose. I tightened everything up and 'bingo' my displays have never looked better.Have a nice day and be happyBadbiggles2

With the recent release of the Intel-based Macintoshes, I've been wondering if someone would be able to dual boot OS X and Windows so I could ditch my PC and run Flight Simulator on a Macintosh. Well, it turns out the Apple has already provided a way to do this with their "Boot Camp" utility at http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/.So without getting into a religious discussion, I'll just ask this: has anyone tried running Flight Simulator on a new iMac under Windows? How does it perform? Is it a viable replacement to my desktop (P4 2.8Ghz, 1GB RAM).Thanks,Jon (KSEA)

Hello. As you can see from my specs, I am currently running two 80GB/7200RPM/8MB Cache Western Digital HD's in RAID 0 config. These are my only drives I have and all other games and Windows are loaded on them.I want to move FS to a dedicated drive. What is faster.2 more 7200's in RAID 0OR1 150 gig 10,000 RPM/16 MB Cache drive.I need more than 75 gig for my fs install and I cant afford two 10,000 RPM drives (well I can if someone thinks it is a must).Any suggestions or other options?

http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=...ed&ascdesc=DESCI stumbled across these drivers, Xtreme G Force at tweeks r us.Gave them a try and all I can say is Im getting a major FPS boost. So much so I do not beleive it and trying to figure out whats going on.Using the latest Nvidia drivers, I was getting 15-20 with some stutters with FlyTampa KSFO during taxi,to and landing. Now Im getting a constant 25 which is my lock with no stutters with an occasional dip to 20.About the same at Cloud-9 KLAX and Flytampa ksan. This is flying the Flight-1 MD-80, AMD 3500+,6800GT,2 GIGS with the highest card settings.high density and mid autogen. You get 3 options to load either qual…

Well, After about a week and ahalf the card finally arrived, haven't run any benches yet and haven't done any of the volt mods yet, but here is what I can say...Running MegaScenery + Megacity Sanfran flying Level-D 767 at 1600x1200x32 with 8sxAA 16xAF and transparency @ supersampling, Mips at High quality Vsync and tripple buffer on, one cloud layer, no AI, Mesh 97% AG at 100% Shadows on... steady 50-60 FPS all the way to threshold at FlyTampa's KFSO...with a very superb display to say the least. In my PC I have changed the bootdrive to a brand new 320 GB.In this drive I have reinstalled a fresh copy of WIN XP Pro SP2 plus Office 2003, Acrobat, FlashGet, McAffee and Skype. Also FS 9.1 including DirectX 9C is on the drive.FS9 works OK, but ONLY in its default state. As soon as I install any 3rd party scenery I get "Out of Memory" error and FS9 aborts. The PC has 1 GB RAM installed and it is recognised at bootup by BIOS as well as seems ok in SiSoft Sandra and also in the WIN Control Panel.Any clue for a remedy is greatly appreciated.Bjorn

Hey everyone. I just got my new system. I am VERY dissapointed to say the least. It is an AMD 4400x2 Dual core, WinXP, 2 gigs ram ,A8N5X MB, Nvidia 6800GS pci express 256 Video card. I tried loading my Aeroworx B200 at KSEA by flytampa, I couldn't get more than 15-17FPS with stutters when panning. What????!!!!! I said to myself. I don't have anything maxed out either. Frames locked at 30, scenery at dense, auto gen dense, clear skys. Why after spending over $1,300.00 do I have this mess? I have the latest drivers, bios and such. The system seems to work a tad better than my regular AMD2800xp+barton with 1.5gigs and an Nvidia6800gt AGP. Go figure that one out. I hear that…
