Would really appreciate quidance. My system is:Video accelerator: Radeon 9250 128MB (AGP with VGA,DVI and TV outlets)Windows 98SE (No service packs uploaded)MS FS 2004I attached a second monitor to the DVI output of this card. This is supposed to be a good configuration. {Control Panel}/{System}/{Device Manager}/{Display Adaptors} is duly showing both a Radeon 9250 and a Radeon 9250 secondary. My problem is that both monitors appear to be receiving identical output. When I click on the "1" on the monitor icon in {Control Panel}/{Display}/{Settings} I see a "1" on both monitors. Clicking on "2" has no effect and appears on neither monitor.I have ensured that both monitor…

I now have Athlon 64 3200+ with 1 Gb RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro AGP 128M and a Asus A8V Deluxe MB.I have been given the advice to get a new graphics card and also that the only best alternative would be a NVIDIA 6600GT (well unless I wan't to spend much more money) card because of the GDDR3 memory. A card that to me seems to be alternative is aSapphire Radeon X1600PRO 256MB DDRII, AGP8X, Tv-Out, DVI-I, Lite-Retailthis since one customer review stated does he thinks it's better than 6600GT. Also it's cheaper (about $65). What do you say? Is 6600Gt defenitely better than a Radeon X1600PRO. And if so does it matter which 6600GT I buy?

Hi,Since about 2 weeks I have this very weird graphics problem. It happens several times during flight, both on land and sea.I don't have a clue what is causing it. Initially I suspected the graphics driver, but it happens with several driver versions.Anyone having a clue what it is? Is my videocard failing? (X850XT)I don't have this in order games BTW.Please advice.EDIT: I have uploaded the picture to AVSIM too, some might see it double..http://www.scandinavian-va.net/upload/x850xt.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/147663.jpg

Hi all-After updating my nVidia drivers to the latest official, and now the latest beta drivers, I've been experiencing a problem with the way the horizon is rendered in the sim. Please take a look at the attached picture to see what's going on.Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on a fix?I've tried two driver sets, some FS9.cfg terrain tweaks, and a variety of settings in the nVidia control panel.System:PIV 2.53 GhznVidia GeForce 6600 256MB2GB RAMXP Home (All Updates Installed)FS9.1Thanks!Matt Smith

hi Gregjust recently got an ATI X1900XTX. i'm using the Cat. 6.4's with the CCC. 1. in the CCC in the "Overdrive" section the GPU clock speed is showing 500Mhz. shouldn't that be 650Mhz.? also, the Memory clock speed is showing 594Mhz. shouldn't that be about 700-800Mhz.? bad video card or CCC bug?2. do you recommend disabling the "Catalyst AI" feature in the CCC?3. in the DX diagnostics tool (using DX9c - 2/06 update) in the "video" tab "AGP Texturing" is listed and is enabled. AGP Texturing on a PCIExpress card? 4. during bootup after the WinXP "splash" screen (the one showing the dashed progress bar) but before the 2-toned blue "Windows is starting up" msg. screen, a…

Although I have quite a high end computer I continue to have low frame rates in certain circumstances, which I never had in a smaller PC in the same situation.I use FS2004 as my main game. Although FR is good most of the time, when I do spot view, after a couple of minutes, the computer freezes for a few seconds and then is back to life, but keeps doing the same until I change the view (happens only in Spot and VC views). In spot view, also the screen flickers from time to time (Render to texture is off), and I have black, lightning shaped, things crossing the screen from time to time. Also, when I have a lot of clouds (I use ASV6) the FR can drop to the mid 10s. This is …

Well, I'm about done with low performance. I'm gtting close to putting a system together that will ban stutters and low FPS forever. Here are my performance goals:FPS never, ever, ever lower than 20, no matter what, while running:Ultimate Traffic, with AI set at 85%.Active Sky, 5 cloud layers.Radar Contact.Ultimate Terrain.Level-D 767, 2D cockpit.Stock airports only, no add-on scenery, but "sliders to the right."I've been talking to people and reading many threads on this board and I am confident that these are realistic goals with a cutting edge dual-core SLI high performance gaming system. But here's my question. Let's say I'm going to stick with FS9 for a while. Wou…

Hello All,I have a strange performance issue in FS2004.After a clean re-install and upon entering my first flight session (KSEA-0800-weather clear) my FPS were holding steady at 30FPS (locked by my choice in settings menu). After exiting FS2004 and rebooting I entered my default flight again and noticed that my FPS were now at a lowly 15? I have not changed or altered anything in the mean time? System Specs are as follows:AMD 4000+ATi 9800Pro Omega 3.8.231 driverASUS A8V Mobo1GB Dual Channel RamSaitek X36 HotasMS Sidewinder Force Feedback JoystickI hope that this can be resolved. Many ThanksJuJu

Hello there,In 2003 I switched to Apple Macintosh, and therefor also said goodbye to MSFS. I have been using X-Plane since, which is a great simulator. However, I miss the eye candy and the great addon panels (I used to fly PIC 747 and PDMG 737, but also the emulated fully functional Garmins) I used in FS2002. So I want to buy a Windows System again, just for FS, but I don't want to spend to much money on it.I found this system somewhere for a very reasonable price:Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz HyperTreading double CPU useage, Intel CoolerMotherboard: ATX1024 MB DDR PC3200DVD rom player 16x48 white160 GB Maxtor S-ATA6 channel audio on boardATI Radeon se9200 128MB10/100Mbit LAN …

Hi, I have 2 questions for all of you:1. I am updating my graphics card from a Geforce 6600 to a BFG 7900GT PCIE...besides updating drivers, is there any other things I must do for FS9 to ensure the new card is recognized and works properly?2. I was told I should update my bios and chipset drivers. I have never done this before. Is there a way to explain how to do this after downloading the new drivers? I am fairly good with computers but have never gone that before. I have a Athlon AMD64 4200+ with 1 gig Kingston ram, Geforce 6600 card, with a Nforce4 GA-K8N-SLI motherboard. Thanks for all your help.Patrick

I am stuck for the forseeable future with PCI video: the motherboard on my computer will not accept PCIe or AGP. For the last two years, I have been using the Xtasy Radeon 9100 with 128 Mb. Yesterday, I installed 3D Fuzion's GeForce 6200 with 128 Mb. (Yes, there is one for PCI.)I've noticed four problems:1. Random black rectangles in normal Windows programs. -- Some people reported that updating the driver to 84.20 or above fixed this problem. It hasn't for me, but that's not what I'm writing to this group about.2. When I fire up FS9, I do notice smoother video and somewhat better FPS than I was getting with the ATI 9100. But in the Create Flight and Choose Aircraft scree…

Hey guys! After several weeks of struggling with my new rig (Fx55, GA-K8NSC-939, 2x512 Dual Channel, 200 Gb WD and PNY 6800GT, XP pro) I am able to say it is...almost finished, lol.Unfortunately, the sound card I had (a 16bit one, the ones with gameport) never worked, as it seems this kind of mobo will never allow one of the older SCs. It doesn't recognize the drivers, no matter which one I install. For that reason I am using the onboard mainboard sound. It seems this is affecting FS, as, when I get into an area with more traffic or some heavy scenery, FS starts to fail, mostly when doing spot view, and I get a freeze with the sound repeating itself until I press S and I a…

I read somewhere that someone used a button on their CH yoke to toggle or run through different settings for AI. So when landing at a dense airport, a button push set AI to a lower percentage or off entirely for a smooth approach, then toggled again to full after landing or while airborne. Anyone know how this is done?Michael

Hi all, my rig has recently been upgraded and I've experienced some bizarre FS9 behavior. I have an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ on an ECS K8T890-A motherboard with 2GB PC3200 ram and an EVGA 6800GS PCI-E graphics card. FS runs great right after bootup (high FPS with everything maxed) but, if I do a lot of other high intensity tasks on the computer and then load up FS, I get this bizarre intermittent flickering and the plane jumps in position each time. After reading many posts on this forum and others I found out I can isolate FS9 to a single core. This cures the flickering but my frame rates drop significantly and panning is no longer smooth. Anyone else have a similar rig a…

Hi all-Is it possible to buy/build a system that will run FS9 -well- for $600 or less, not including monitor/keyboard/peripherals?Naturally it would be great if FSX had a fighting chance on the system as well. I'd like to eventually run a large monitor, but suppose I could upgrade the video card later.[edit] Oh, I should mention that one add-on I will definitely be using in FS9 is USA Roads. I would love to be able to use Flight Environment, too!Any tips appreciated-thxAndrew

hello folks out there i hope im at the right place for some answers, my gaming pleasure is flight simulator 2004, been doing it for about ten years now, the problem that im having is antialiasing, it must be off for me to undock windows to another screen, i have never had this problem before with other cards that i have owned, in fact if it is on and i undock a window to another screen it will lock up the computer, this is supposed to be one of the better cards and im surprised that it is doing this.im sure there are those who dont fly this sim , but if this is a wide range problem maybe someone will be able to help me.....Thanks......Robert

I have a Gainwood 128MB 6600GT PCIe card and can overclock to core=548Mhz and mem=1200. Will I be able to overclock more if I remove non essential hardware like PCI cards etc, or is my limit an entirely fixed characteristic of the PCIe card (for a given FS9 configuration)?

Hey everyone, tonight my FS computer has given me one of the last middle fingers it ever will again. I have been having alot of problems the past several months. Tonight, after booting up the machine, it turned off by itself. Then the light on the front stayed on, but no matter what I did, it would not turn back on. Power supply maybe?? It did fianlly go back on, but at this point, I am sooooooooooooooo fed up, I just want to replace it already. It is going on 3 1/2 years. AMD2800XP 2.1ghz. I was going to buy a new box at Best buy. Gateway, dual core 4200. It has a stock pci express card in there, but would this stock ATI 300?? card still be better than my Nvidia6800gt A…
