March 21, 200620 yr I just purchased a USB external hard drive to back up my 2 internal HD's. One is partioned as C D E F, and the other is G (flight sim only). With all the additions I have, I want to backup in case of an internal drive crash. What would be the best way or the most beneficial way of backing up.......just doing a backup of the G drive with backup software, or copying the whole G drive over, or both ways if there's room. If the G drive goes and has to be replaced, would like to be able to transfer from the external to the new internal and continue flying......is this possible? Thanks!Rick
March 21, 200620 yr Moderator As long as you keep the drive/directory structure the same when you restore, it shouldn't be a problem as the registry entries will still be correct. I'm assuming your OS is NOT on the "G" drive.I transferred my whole FS to a different computer that way. I did the basic install to create the dir structure on the new system and then just copied the backup over the new structure. No problems.HTH,VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg RIG#1 - 7700K 5.0g ROG X270F 3600 15-15-15 - EVGA RTX 3090 1000W PSU 1- 850G EVO SSD, 2-256G OCZ SSD, 1TB,HAF942-H100 Water W1064Pro 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
