Hi All,Hope that the title is a good start for this problem!I have had a Fujitsu Scaleo P4 for approx 3 years with an issue that started around a year ago.The issue is more noticeable in FS (I guess more intensive on the CPU) but also in VMWare (test machine). What happens, is that the frames drop to around 3-5 from the norm of 15 (locked at)for around 5-10 seconds. I am almost certain that the issue is related to hardware and not software from my findings but also I reinstalled everything 6 months ago and the symptoms have been the same.At the time of reinstalling 6 months ago I removed the processor heat fan, heat sink and processor as I noticed a small buildup of dust a…

I am not sure if I should get 32-bit or 64-bit Windows Vista. I want all 4 GB of my RAM to be recognized and used, not just 3 GB. However, I have heard that 64-bit Vista is very unstable and most applications crash within it. Suggestions? Thanks,BoeingGuy

Guys, pls help me out: I reinstalled WinXP and FSX and lost my Mouse look setting. I had my mouse's middle button pan the view in 3D when pressed. I recall I had used JAB, but then I changed to some simple setting in the FSX's VIEWS setup. It was a valuable addition to TrackIR, kinda AC for FSX in a way. For the life of me I can't find or remember that setting in FSX.Thanks.

Do ATI cards have the problem which causes the flashing taxiway's under dx10? And is vsync broken under dx10?These problems prevent me from using DX10 mode with my 8800gtx. I see no visible signs of Nvidia fixing their drivers despite being contacted by Phil Taylor. I find it strange there is no visible movement from nvidia, considering that FSX is owned by Microsoft and Microsoft is a 1000lb gorilla. I am starting to wonder if there is some bad blood in there somewhere. Thanks, Tony

  11. *raises hand*With clock speeds up to 3.16GHz and 6MB L2 cache, the new E8xxx series will surely help boost performance and frame rate issues. I am definitely getting a E8400, which supposedly will sport a price tag of less than $200. If there is a upgrade for my aging(?) AMD X2 4800+ then this is probably it. I have high hopes for FSX with those new CPUs and maybe I'll be finally able to run complex airliners and glass cockpit add-ons with FSX.Pat

I have a Q6600 running on a GA-X38T-DQ6 board with 2BG of DDR3 RAM, GPU is a 7950GT (250MB). OS is WinXP.In BIOS there is an item that I left enabled to decrease CPU performance if heat becomes a factor. I'm wondering what is the best way to monitor if in fact the CPU is being constricted. This would from within XP, while I as running an application (FSX) that would be possibly capable of producing high demands on the CPU.Thanks- Bruce.

New FSX system is completed and running. A couple questions:I have 4GB of DDR2-1066 memory installed. Will more memory via Ready Boost help FSX?Is there a freeware program available to test the system (cpu, memory, HDs, etc) and provide a report on the operational status of components, ie are they all working properly? If no freeware, payware.Regards,Richard

Why an FSX Benchmark?Because noone has ever done it before. A unified FSX benchmark will benefit all of us and will gives us an opportunity to get solid results with different hardware configurations. Too many times have we read "I get x fps" without knowing about the resolution, the amount of traffic, the quality settings, tweaks and hardware configurations. Let's make this a standard and compare. This benchmark has it all. Fixed and easy to use display settings and a fixed scenario that is challenging for both the CPU and GPU. It just takes about 5 minutes of your time. What does the benchmark do?Nothing really. The benchmark will place your Cessna in an area around San B…

Hi,My new eDimensional AudioFX Pro headset just arrived this morning (a replacement for the original AudioFX one that I have managed to break) and the sound from it is excellent. However, I would like to have the sound coming from both the speakers and ALSO from the headset at the same time...Currently, I have managed to set it up so that when I unplug the USB headset the soundcard becomes the default device and plays the sound. When I plug the headset back it, it takes over. Is there a clever way of telling XP to use both at the same time?Better still, is it possible in FS (FS9 that is) to have both devices running but with different sound profiles? I would love to have …

  17. I have been running with the Cat. 7.1's for the longest time, but yesterday in reading at Tom's Hardware the article on the newly released (Cat 7.10's) and how ATI claims FPS improvements of up to 30 percent as well as better graphics in quite a few games, I decided to try them out. What the heck, it's easy to go back to the 7.1's......well....the Cat 7.1's are retired! The Cat 7.10's are giving me visuals that I have NEVER HAD before. An example: If I look out onto the rotating patch/swath of the left prop on the B300, I now have a biting-edge 'glint' of the tip of the props. This is something new for me. Obviously the drivers are 'opening up' greater detail. At least on…

Curious whether anyone had the ultimate experience with FSX on 8-core CPU systems? I was considering a Mac Pro as a replacement for the last remaining PC at home, and today Apple posted their new 8-core system with quite acceptable price tag and a variety of GPU options including 8800 GT (DX10 compatible?). so I was wondering if 8 cores is really a significant improvement over, say, 4 cores and how good Windows XP or Vista handle it? Cheers,Edit: I wasn't sure if this is more of "Hardware-related forum" question, so I'm sorry if it is...=S.V.=eMachines T5026/P4/3.07GHz/1Gb RAM/160Gb S-ATA HDD/Windows XP Home SP2/ATI RADEON 9250 PCI 256Mb/ViewSonic VX910 19' 1280x1024/Micr…

Hey guys I've been reading the forum about Raid0 and I'm getting ready to build my new system and I'm trying to decide if I should continue with Raid0. My current system include Raptor 74GB X 2 and Partitioned with FS9 on D: and FSX on E:. Question I have is should I just get 1 HD for OS I intend on Vista 64 and 1 Raptor 150GB for FSX/FS9 or get 2 X RAptors in Raid0. I'm thinking about performance for FSX, is it better fore FSX to be installed on 1 Raptor 150GB or 2 Raptors in Raid0 and Partition. Thanks guys.Joe
