Hello,Just a word of thanks to all who helped me rebuild my "burned out" old system. I had an ASUS MB with a 3500+ cpu that blew up about a month ago. I decided to rebuild the system as practice for a future build and I elected to do the rebuild on the "cheap"I bought an ASUS M2N - MX - SE Plus MB and put it into my old case (a very nice one) I stripped out everything from the old system and followed help from this forum in my efforts. I used a new ATHLON 64 4400 cpu and bought 2 gigs of fast ram and a new GF 8500 GT display adapter. Well it all works great now! I run FS9 at 40 FPS and with an added 1TB drive I have a real screamer for my FS9 amd XPLANE 9 use. Thanks agai…

I have just purchased a new motherboard (ASUS M2N-MX SE Plus) to go with my Athlon 64 6400+ X2 (3200Ghz) CPU. After installing a fresh copy of Windows XP Home Edition, which order to I install me drivers? From what I understand, I need to install the motherboard drivers first (Nvidia nForce 430), then the videocard drivers (Nvidia 8800 GTS 320), and then the soundcard drivers (Creative Labs XiFi Xtreem Gamer)?Where do the CPU drivers come in?What happens if they are loaded out of order? Thanks in advance!RH

Fry's has one advertised for $199. 64Gb would hold an FSX install + quite a few addons. http://www.outpost.com/product/5710922Would this be a better solution than a Raptor?-jk

Has anyone tried this before? I know it's fairly trivial to map different axes to the controls in fsx, but what I'm trying to do is as follows:Pushing down on the left pedal yaws the plane to the leftPushing down on the right pedal yaws the plane to the rightNot pushing either pedal keeps the yaw axis centeredThat is, effectively turn two axes into one differential axis. It seems like something that should be easy to do in software, I just haven't seen it done before.Any ideas?

I gave my joystick and FS9 program to a kid in the neighborhood to get him started, and I continue to use my yoke for FSX. Helicopters and some aircraft really need a joystick, and I would like to know of any recommendations for low cost (under $60) joysticks for such occasions.ArtBiostar TF560-A2+, Athlon 64X2-6000+, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS-320MB, 500W PSU, 250GB HD, FSX(SP1-SP2), Audigy SE sound, Vista Home Premium 32 bit, CH Yoke & Pedals, 22" WS LCD monitor

I am prepared to purchase another monitor for my system. I will be using FS9 primarily but also FSX. I am considering a 22" model, and my questions are:1. Are there any issues regarding how aircraft panels are displayed with this size screen?2. Is there a tradeoff with visual performance between analog and digital? Thanks for any inputDom

Hello,I did an upgrade from a dual core (4500) to quad (6700) and from a nvidia 8600 to an ATI HD4850. I have 2gb of RAM and Vista 32.My FSX was running smooth before (not high frame rate, but smooth). Now the frames are about 3x more in the same situation, but I get a huge FPS drop every few seconds, like from 35 to 10 FPS and back to 35 FPS a second later... so stutters every 3-4 seconds.I installed last ATI driver (8.9) and tried many settings in ATI control panel and FSX.cfg, tried affinity mas with 7, 14 and 15, same thing.Any idea is really welcome. Thanks,Ulisses

Hello, I'm new to AVSIM and this is my first post. I'm a Private Pilot getting ready to get my instrument rating. I'm now building a dedicated computer just to run MS FSX and I hope it will give me smooth fluid performance. My excuse to my wife is that FSX will help me with my instrument rating. It will, but will also be FUN! Here are the specs to my new machine.Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz (Should I get a Quad?)NVIDIA Nforce 680i SLI motherboard4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAMNVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX (2 of them on the motherboard)26 inch Samsung LCDTrackIR 4 ProMy question is twofold. Nick, and other knowledgeable folks, I need some assistance in getting the most out of a new system build. While I am not a total noob to overclocking its clear there are others like yourself that know more than I do. I am hoping you'll be able to assist me through the process.First off I have the machine up and running and am finishing off downloading all of the updates and patches to my software. I am in a remote location and suffer from very slow internet bandwidth. Here is what I am working with:Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 Motherboard Bios Version F4 (F5 is rumored to brick your system)Intel Quad Core 9650 3 GHz processor4 gigs (2x2gigs) of OCZ Reaper DDR3 1800 ram Windows Vist…

So Ive been doing some research these days on switching from PC to Mac (the wife's idea...) and found to my surprise that Mac can almost seamlessly run Microsoft Windows XP/Vista at 93% of what a real PC can run it at. Now having said that, I have to wonder how FS9/FSX and the future FS11 will interact with a Mac.I know right away Id have a hardware issue with my Saitek devices, as Saitek doesnt provide drivers, etc for the X52 or Rudder Pedals, or Pro Flight Yoke...Any thoughts or ideas??

I had AMD 64 3200+ , 1 GB PC3200 RAM, NVIDIA 6600GT 256M DDR3I have now replaced the videocard with a NVIDIA 7950GT 512M andupgraded the RAM to 2 Gb.My result in FS9 is that fps overall seems to be somewhat higher but the frames are not of better quality which has been suggested wouls be the case. But as before the fps vary very much. Stutters might be somewhat less pronounced but still exist. I must say I had expected better result.Overclocking my CPU (first 2.2 GHz then 2.4 GHz) yielded maybe a slight improvement. Therefore is it any point to also upgrade the CPU? If so there are now att tradera (eBay) a FX-55 and a AMD 64 X2 4400+ out for sale. How much more could the…

I currently have both on my computer and would like to uninstall FS9 and re-install it. Questions:1.Is the add/remove function in the control panel sufficient to get rid of all the necessary files & folders associated with it or do I have to go into program files & make a few more deletions. I have a lot of PMDG aircraft etc....2. If I reinstall the FS9, will this somehow inadvertently affect my FSX installation in some hidden manner like....you might lose the FSX.exe prompt etc...The reason that I am asking is that I somehow lost all my airports in my fmc for the PMDG products and want to start over from scratch since the airac's etc. is built into the PMDG insta…

I recently had to send my computer in for some repairs and they messed up some files in my Fmcwp and elsewhere...My Question is: I want to reinstall my FS9 in it's entirety and keep FS10 as is. Do I go into the add/remove & do it that way PLUS go into program files for FS9 and make sure everything is deleted there and is that sufficient to clear everything out for a fresh install of FS9 and will any of this affect FS10?? I've never had to do this before so I'm not familiar with some of the in's & out's of it!!Hope somebody can give me a 'heads-up' on what to do so I don't mess anything else up.Anybody care to take a stab?Regards, jack
