Yesterday I was required to do the dreaded reinstall of Window XP Pro due to other factors (never let girlfriends use the net again), and today I installed the sim (fs9).First thing I did was my usual routine of installing the patch and then set about the mesh, GePro, Ultimate Traffic, and ActiveSky. WHQL 178.24 out on 25th October 2008.In my case, this version seems to have cured some irritating little quirks when using FSInn (sluggish window pop-up and intermittent screen corruption). I have looked on the internet at this problem and most posts are over a year old, just wondering if a solution has been found recently.I am using FSX and various third party aircraft with a reasonable spec computer, see below. At varying times during a flight all the instrument will get flickering coloured vertical lines in them then the screen will freeze and will either shut down my monitor or I get the BSOD, the sound normally continues. Just purchased a new computer a couple of weeks ago and have a problem booting up XP.Some times it will boot up ok then maybe about 1 in 10 bootups it will hang on a totally black screen just after the press del to enter setup page appears.XP loading page doesnt appear and have to restart the computer and it loads up fine. Hi,I really need help installing new Nvidia drivers. I already had the issue with the previous driver release but now also with the 178.24. I run the installer, the Installing Driver Components progress bar goes immediately to the 50% position, then I just wait for some time while HDD light is flashing, the screen flickers, I wait again (the whole waiting lasts around 5 or more minutes), then the installer gives the finishing page of the Wizard and says "The system has not been modified." Has anyone figured out how to eliminate the shimmering effect in FS9 with hardware changes or setting changes? I've tried just about every setting know to man, women or beast to solve this problem.I was just wondering if there has been any progress with hardware lately to stop the shimmering in FS9.Thanks

Need a super good processor to run FS10 and the PMDG MD-11. In addition, I also need a good recommendation for a good motherboard also.The power supply is 600 watt rosewell and my present graphics card is an 8800GT. I have a Dell 2405 monitor that I'm very happy with...uh, that is with one or two exceptions:1. During the dusk and dawn periods and when there are contrasting clouds at night, the banding is noticable. Rather, it's annoying to the point that I normally don't fly during dawn or dusk.2. I realize that "true black" on an LCD is next to impossible to achieve, except perhaps on a very high end model.Particularly as it relates to banding, are there any third-party tools that can help minimize banding? I want to get some more RAM to go along with Vista x64, which I installed recently.Currently, I have 2x1GB of Corsair DDR2 XMS2 ram, matched pair of courseShould I just buy 2x2GB of the same RAM, or is there a cheaper pair out there that will work fine. I'm not overclocking my current CPU either.Also, instead of more physical ram, would the ReadyBoost feature do anything for me for FSX? I think a 2GB flash drive would be cheaper than 4 GB of physical RAM.

Whenever I bring the computer out of sleep mode I don't have any yoke functions. Even when going to the Game Controllers app. I have to shutdown and restart to get the yoke (CH Flightsim) to work.Is there a workaround for this? Thanks.Jim

I just recently upgraded my OS to VISTA-32 Ultimate. My graphics card is an 8800 GTX, with 178.13 drivers. I'm using nHancer to set my graphics card parameters. This works pretty good, but I'm still having some AA problems with one of my HUD gauges. I get the best video quality when I enable the FS9 AA setting in addition to my nHancer settings. Unfortunately, when I do that, I get a black screen at the logbook entry screen, just before I exit FS9. Does anybody know of a way that I can continue to use FS9 AA setting and get the logbook entry screen to appear?

I am trying to create a macro on my X-52 so that when I select the raise/lower gear command in FSX an new window will open with the "landing gear view" selected for the duration of that event then close.I know how to program the stick to do this but I cant find any shortcuts/ key commands to assign directly to specific view such as "Landing gear view" or "Right/Left" wing views etc. Is there a way to create or assign a Direct shortcut to a specific view rather than selecting a view catagory and cycling through it until you get the view you desire?Thanks,Robert
