Hi. I've been out of simming for about 4 yrs., but am wanting to get active with it again. In the past I always had good luck with AMD processors, but don't see much about them mentioned in these hardware threads. Is AMD still a viable altenative? The last computer I had built up about 4 yrs. ago had a Gigabyte K8N Pro MB, Athlon 64 3GHz.(I believe) processor and ATI Radeon 9800 Pro video board. I was running FS9. What kind of performance could I expect when using this setup with FSX?Thanks for any help.Jeff

  4. Only a group like this would appreciate this...So I spent the last week traveling from NY-Chicago-Milwaukee-Chicago-Brussels-Chicago-NY on business. My FS rig spent the week shut down which is probably the longest she has been shut down since I built her LOL...I got home at 1am Friday morning and passed out exhausted. Naturally I woke up 5 hours later Friday morning at 6am ready for work but also ready to recreate my trip. I fire up my main FS rig (OC'd to 4.5 on liquid at 1.45V on an E8500) and as soon as everything starts to spool up it shuts down. Confused I try to power up again but this time it was a split second on/off and she shut down again. OK, I can handle t…

I'm triple booting between XP Pro 64 on Drive C (Disk 1), XP Pro 32 on Drive D (Disk 2), and a cloned copy of XP Pro 64 on Drive E (Disk 3). No matter what I do, my XP Pro 64 selection in the boot menu always boots up from Drive E (Disk 3), and I want the OS loaded on Drive C, Disk 1, to boot it (it's a newer drive). Can someone take a look at my Boot.ini file and tell me why this might be so? Hello, Just want some advice on which video card to purchase to run fsx better. My specs for my HP a1630n are:AMD 64x2 Dual Core Processor 5200+2 Gig of RamNvidia GeForce 6150LEAs you can see I'm still using the card that came with the rig 2 year ago. I'm currently getting between 5-8 in high detailed cities, and 10-18 everywhere else. Im running sliders on Medium-Low and I use real-world weather with 3d clouds set to low. I run 100% AI traffic, as i like the feeling of realism. All in all i can pretty much fly into any aiport with maybe one or two stutters approaching KEWR or KLGA. Taxiing, only Newark gives me pauses once in a while. After reading tom's hardware; it see…

Hi EveryoneHave a two year old system and running FS2004. System specs are pentiun dual core 3.4 GHz 4GB DDR2 533 Ram and Nvidia 7600GT PCI gaphics card.Problem is some time ago I tried to upgrade to much newer drivers than the originals installed to improve performance. The recent generation drivers caused a great deal of shimmering etc and so I deleted them and had to go back to drivers that were released about the time my system was made. I know the drivers were uninstalled correctly and have used a driver cleaner to remove the remenants of anything left behind. Unfortunately I have never got it back running as well as the initial install even when trying riva tune…

Hi, I have 4 monitors. 3 for external views (Forward-Left, Forward, and Forward-Right) plus one for main panel. The issue I have is that I see the engine nacelles (I am flying Baron 58) on the side views. So after having 3 monitors for external view, what I get at the end is two monitors with static views (forward view is Ok and clean). If I close the main panel, they dissapear, but then I don't have any instrument view.Is there any way to fix it and get 3 "clean" external views on the 3 monitors plus one instrument view on the other?THANKSI am using FS2004

  11. I'm going to post this under the FS9 Forum as well, since it's not a really a hardware issue. Using FS9 (NOT FSX), XP Pro 64 (NOT VISTA). All sliders right, AI at 70%, all other addons identical.I've been having more than my fair share of OOMs and CTDs in XP Pro 32 so I've done a clean install of XP Pro 64 bit edition on a new Seagate 500 GB 32 MB Cache drive, and then a clean install of FS9 and at FS Dream Team's KORD I get 7-9 FPS with the 64 bit OS whereas if I boot back into the 32 bit XP Pro I will get 21-24 FPS.Over clock settings are identical, I don't change them in the BIOS. My 32 bit OS and FS9 install IS on a 10K Raptor, but I certainly don't think that woul…

I tried many things to span FSX over my 2 17" LCD screens but I don't get it working. Some people say that UltraMon works, but I don't know how that works. If I windows FSX and click on the span option of ultramon the screen stays on my 17" display and on my other 17" display it's still black. It doesn't stretch.Does anyone have a solution for this, I would thank you very much if you can help me.
