I was running with ATI driver suite 8.10 over the last couple of weeks, and also, last week updated my DX9.c to the latest November/2008 update. With running 8.10 along side it, I didn't truly notice any real performance increase. I also didn't notice any DECREASE either. I was running around 24-27 nominal FPS's.But...with this morning replacing ATI 8.10 for ATI 8.11----and doing NOTHING ELSE in any form of a tweak---just flying... I am most happy to report that I am getting 7-10 FPS more than I had at any time with using the previous driver suite release (8.10).I have much smoother animation as well.I also keep my hard drive groomed with O&O v8.5 with SPACE and NAM…

Hi, I have been having issues with my vidios cards. EVGA 9800GTX in SLI mode. I started getting flashing and little square pixles after about 30min of flying. I use Active Sky X weather program. Would that have anything to do with this? I changed driversGreg

My system specs are as below. I can run FSX ok without autogen and get very good frame rates (30-60) but with SP2 installed, panning around the cockpit is jerky. I'm guessing that an upgrade from my lowly nvidia 6800 would help. Has anyone any recommendations for a (mid-range priced) replacement card that would improve things? I think my PC has PC Express. The other thing is would the power supply be sufficient for a graphics card upgrade?ThanksFrog

i plan to upgrade soon to FSX but before i need to upgrade both my CPU and GPUfor the CPU i'm hesitating between the Q9550 LINKand the Core Duo E8600 LINKfrom what i read, FSX uses 2 cores so the quad might be a waste of power. is that true?which one will give the highest frame rates if combined with a GTX 260? do i need to purchase a new motherboard with the CPU? mine is from Dellnote: i won't overclock the heater in my house works fine :(

I can successfully run FSX at 3.8GHZ however any time I go beyond 3.8Ghz FSX will crash. I just tried running at 3.94Ghz and got a crash with the following results:Faulting application fsx.exe, version 10.0.61637.0, time stamp 0x46fadb14, faulting module nvd3dum.dll, version 7.15.11.8048, time stamp 0x491b7aed, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x001effb6, process id 0xd78, application start time 0x01c9526ee1dd6def.Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thank you.

I am planning to build a new PC entirely for running FSX maxed out and with a good frame rate. I already bought the following components and plan to use Windows Vista 32 bit.Processor: Intel Q 9550.MB: Asus P5E (X38 based)RAM: 4GB of Kingston HyperX DDR2 800MHzGraphic processor: XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 512 mb XXX Edn My questions are1. Will the above components be good enough to achieve the goal?2. Is there any advantage in having a RAID 0 setup with two Seagate 7200RPM SATA2 32MB Cache hard disks?3. Will the hard disks with 32 MB cache offer any extra advantage over 16 MB with regard to FSX?I would very much appreciate an expert advice. Thanks in advance.Vinod.

I have a Dell 720 h2c liquid cooled quad core 2.97 Ghz - nVidia motherboard. It came factory over-clocked to 3.78 Ghz. I had some RAID errors and Dell replaced the motherboard and 2 hard drives. They refused to over-clock the computer to 3.78 - even though I booght it that way from them. I went in the BIOS and simply raised it back to 3.78 Ghz and all is ok. Here are my 2 questions:1. Over the last 3 weeks the syetem booted up twice (out of 30 times) to the original 2.97 Ghz and not 3.78 ghz. I had to back in the BIOS and reset it to 3.78. There are no crashes so why did it reset to 2.98 Ghz??2. How do I see the CPU temperature?thanksPaul

Hello friends,i have build an new computer for flying my FS2004. I choosed an ATI 3850 graphic card from Gigabyte. Note, this is my second computer, buld with "old" hardware from my "first", FSX tuned computer.I expect some problems with FSAA in FS2004. When i activate it, maybe 4x or 8x, it works fine. But when i move to the desktop while flying, or change fullscreen to window mode or back, the driver seems to loss the FSAA settings, the sim looking crisp. When i made a change then, e.G. from 4x to 8x, it will reactivate. A little bit uncomfortable.Bevore some years i expect this problem, too. But i moved to NVIDIA for a long time. My last ATI card was an x800. So i am n…

Hi allRight i have decided im upgrading to FSX, FS9 has been fantastic but its time to move on to the better looking addons that are around. Now i am aware FSX is a huge frame chewer so i need some serious guidelines as to how i need to upgrade, I use WOAI traffic at 90% on FS9 with alot of scenery addons and user aircraft from PMDG, Overland, Project Airbus, Flight1, Captain Sim & CLS.I would like to be given the best specs so i can tell a PC manafacturer what i require to get a very smooth non stuttery FSX along with AI aircraft & VFR scenerys.I have a NVIDIA 9800GTX3GB RAMI most likely will use the GFX card again, and the rest i know needs upgrading anyway...but…

CH Products have announced their new Eclipse yoke. More buttons but perhaps most importantly a new 'non-binding' shaft which is my biggest gripe with the current yoke.http://www.chproducts.com/retail/y_eclipse.htmlDoes anyone have this yet and if so, is it a big improvement over the current one?Cheers,

With a winXP Vista64 dual boot configuration where the two OSs are to reside on separate physical HDDs are there any advantages in disconnecting the drive with winXP before installing Vista on the second disc and then using the bios to manage which OS to boot from? My plan is to use winXP for FS9 and most other tasks and Vista64 just for FSX. Any observations appreciated.Bruceb

Just passing on some info about i7 to clear up some things and to throw FSX data into the mix for the platform.I am being very conservative in reporting this as to avoid hype. I have not had time to complete all my checks and test however I do have enough information to relay a few things so those who may be on the fence about buying or wish to upgrade have good information to base their decision.First and foremost, in making the decision to move to i7 you need to look at what you are running today and what you are willing to spend. If you are on AMD, old Intel and/or not running modern Intel, moving to i7 will be a good boost and investment for you. Do be aware that if …

Hi! I have recently upgraded my graphics card from a ATi Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition (3 years old) to a new NVidia GeForce 9600GT XXX.Having removed the old card and ATi drivers I then installed the new card and all the NVidia drivers correctly as per the instructions. The problem Im getting is that no matter what settings I apply in the NVidia control panel, it doesn't have any effect when I load FS9.For example, when I set AA to 8x in the control pannel I still get horrendous 'jaggies' in the game. Turning on AA through FS9 itself also fails to correct the jaggies.Have I missed something in the install upgrade? Do I need to update the FS9.CFG for the new card? Im …

Hi, first time post I've been flying FS9 a bit painfully on an old P4 2.4ghz with a lone 512mb of Ram with a 9600 Pro for eight years...This year at least at the start of next year plan to upgrade my pc. I'm going to pass on the i7's too new and I'd rather not have a $1600 pc with more bugs than a roach motel. If by the start of 09 the price of the mobos and ram drop enough I might consider that 920 just right now. I really would like to see more than 3 gb of ram. I'm looking at a...Q9550 OCed @ 3.1ghzGigabyte P45 UD3RSuper Talent 4gb at 800mhzAsus V-60Seagate Barracuda 750gb HD w 32mb cache. Hi,I recently upgraded my motherboard and CPU. I changed my motherboard from a Asus A8N-SLI to an Asus N3N78-EH. I changed my CPU from an AMD Athlon 4600+ to an AMD Athlon 6000+. The new motherboard also necessitated a change of RAM to DDR2 (from DDR). I kept 4GB of RAM however. Everything else is as before (graphics card, sound card, hard disk, etc)The problem is my new set-up is slower than my old one! I can only conclude that either I have set it up incorrectly or one of the new parts (CPU, Motherboard or RAM) is not working correctly. Can anyone offer an guidance on what I can do to track down and solve the problem? My old set up got a score of 8034 on 3dMark06 …

What is the best TFT screen for FS9, 22" 24" 26"? I have AMD 64 3200+ and 7950GT AGP 512M DDR3 and 2 Gb PC3200 RAM. I currently use a Samsung SyncMaster 940B 19" TFT at 1280*1024. My videcard has two DVI connectors. Does that mean I must use a TFT with DVI connector? Price for 24" and 26" is significant higher than what you can get a 22" for. Is that well spent money? A 22" use 1680*1050 (1680/1050=1.6) and 24" 1980*1200 (1980/1200=1.65) while for my current TFT 1280/1024=1.25. Is this importanr since FS9 is not widescreen compatible meaning that 22" is a little better than 24" in this regard? What would be the most optimal and best monitor to use for FS9 with considerati…

Flying in FS2004 with my laptop (specifications below signature), I've noticed that, in Economy power settings, the computer remains cool, but at Balanced, the "exhaust" air from the CPU is very hot. I'm afraid of trying with High Performance settings. Anyway, I measured temperatures using SpeedFan, and this is what I've got in the CPU:- Economy: 43
