Hi guys, after battling with my present system, I decided to shell out for a Core i7 gaming system built by "IBUYPOWER". My question is, should I shell out the extra $300 for the 940 processor or is the 920 plenty fast enough for the FSX?The second question is: Will the ATI 4870 1GB be good or shoud I shell out the extra bucks for the nVidia 280 GTX 1GB? The SLI option is out, but the ATI 4870 X2 2GB may still be in play, it will cost a few bucks more that the nVidia 280.Which Graphics option would ya'll recommend? Thanks for all inputPete S.

Are there any users in the forum who have gone this route, and what are the expected results/thoughts if any.Simeon

Good morning. Could someone help ? I have just installed a new GC Radeon HD4850. While the card works fine most of time and keep a 30+ fps for any wheather situation, I am encountering problems when panning, turning on tarmac (strong stutters), as well as FS9 takes much more time to load, and access to menu is very long (wheather settings, option, etc).I wonder if the card installation did change something on my FS9.cfg or somewhere else in my system. It seems that the card controls the game, even the memory. For information, in my FS9.cdg, I have panrate at 900, texture bandwidth at 400 and vertex level at 21. Should I go back to more conservative settings here (is the c…

Before I go the upgrade route I'd like to see if I can squeeze extra performance from my present system (FS9 only). Hello. I am looking to boost up my Computer's performance. I use it mainly for Fs9 and right now I am only getting 6-10 frame rates and I am unable to even fly into detailed airports (World Airports 2's EDDF hits me hard and it drops to around 2-3 framerates). For Christmas I want to ask Santa for a few items (in terms of memory/grahpic card(s)) to get the most out of FS performance wise. 10. Hi Nick. You had help me out in a few threads a while back regarding an OC that I was doing. I appreciate all the help. I have a stable 3.6 OC, but now I feel that the only thing holding be back from its true potential is the RAM settings. This is my first OC. I have been reading, researching, but when it comes to RAM setting concerning latency and speed, there are so many opinions. I read a post of your here: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/Ya...223693603/15#15 , however I am not sure how I should apply this information to my system. Hey all,I have been running FS9 for a while. Relatively recently, about 6 or more months ago, I changed a few hardware items on my pc. Namely, to an nVidia 8800 GTS. I am using the newest drivers (180.48) and have been having an issue with AA not working.Well, I uninstalled, then reinstalled nHancer, and AA is working great now. And the first time I ran FS, post install of nHancer, all was well. The second time, menus do not show up in full screen mode. I have to alt+tab so see them, then again to get back to fullscreen.Any ideas? Thanks

I recently upgraded my video card from an eVGA 8800GTS (320MB) to the eVGA 9800GTX+ (512MB). With the new card installed, I've encountered some graphics issues in FSX that I had not seen before. First, when the game starts, and I'm on the runway for takeoff, the runway has a dark black surface, with streaks or bands running along the surface that appear like streaks of sand on the runway. Not too pretty. At other times, when I'm using the virtual cockpit, the illumination of the cockpit becomes very dark.If I fly around for a few minutes and then return to the airport to land, the runway then appears with normal textures. They will remain normal until I end that FSX …

Hi! I have recently upgraded my graphics card from a ATi Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition (3 years old) to a new NVidia GeForce 9600GT XXX.Having removed the old card and ATi drivers I then installed the new card and all the NVidia drivers correctly as per the instructions. The problem Im getting is that no matter what settings I apply in the NVidia control panel, it doesn't have any effect when I load FS9.For example, when I set AA to 8x in the control pannel I still get horrendous 'jaggies' in the game. Turning on AA through FS9 itself also fails to correct the jaggies.Have I missed something in the install upgrade? Do I need to update the FS9.CFG for the new card? Im …

It has a backplate type heatsink.http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...DN%26ie%3DUTF-8The V8 supplies a LGA775 socket backplate, but the screws are not long enough to mount the backplate over the rear heatsink.http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/d...v8_4.html#sect0Options:-I can leave the rear heatsink on and just put the nuts on the back to mount the HS/f. I currently have a system with a Q6600 Quad and it runs like crap. I thought it was going to be an &@($* kicker when I built it but I get a lot of stuttering and pausing in FSX...as many of you are familiar with. Since I am not ready to lay down the bucks for an i7 yet...I was wondering about getting an E7200 and overclocking the hell out of it as described in the article " How To: Get A 4 GHz Dual-Core For $120" on Tom's below. Overclocking the Q6600 doesn't seem to work well....I up it a bit and XP startes freezing up. I got it up to 3.30 ghz and cant get further. I bumped up voltage all the way to 1.25-1.26. I cant seem to understand why.. from what i hear the 8500, especially the E0 Stepping can overclock pretty well. With the water cooling, my idle temps are 30-32. Full load after 4-5 hours is about 50-53. This seems high to me (however my 8800GTS is also in the loop with a Zalman waterblock, could that affect the temp of the CPU that much). Hi,Recently I bought the Feelthere Legacy which is equiped with FADEC.I have a question about FADEC (in general), specifically during descend below FL100.I descended from FL90 to 4000 with a V/S of 1500ft/min.The FADEC controlled the engine idle thrust, setting it at about 50% N1.This caused the aircraft gradually to speed up again, from 220kts to 250+ kts.Is this normal? I mean normally idle thrust is between 20-25%, but appargantly not for FADEC controlled aircraft. How is speed controlled with such a high idle thrust? Speed brakes, flaps? Most likely I did something wrong (FMC setting, other?) or is this the way it works?EgbertEDIT:OOPS, wrong forum. Please delete will r…
