This is a problem I have, I would like to know if it's possible to have the same resolution of screen set up in Fs2004 on both my monitors. I have 2 monitors running from my Nvidia 7600 GT card. The main screen is a Digital input and the other an analog input, after I have undocked the panel in an aircraft, in windows mode and slid it to my analog screen then changed back to full screen the panel on that screen is shown in a much lower resolution with jaggies, no longer in anti aliased resolution like the main screen. Both monitors are set to 1280x1024 @ 60Hz which are standard for both. I have nView settings set to Dualview and AA set 16x on both monitors.I would be grat…

Well, I've got everything for my new computer except the processor. Having been away from this stuff for a while I'm not familiar with Intel's pricing strategy. Do any of you have a feel for when the soonest price reduction might come for the i7 965 processor? I'm getting ready to purchase the 940, but might be persuaded to go with a 965 if there is a price reduction in the near future. It's hard for me to justify the extra $500 right now. Thanks,Jeff

Good afternoon,I currently have a Intel E6850 CPU, with 3 Gb RAM on a standard 7200 rpm HDD with a NVidia 8800 GTS 640Mb video Card. Do you think a quad core would be a good step up or is FSX just not programmed well enough to take advantage of more than 2 cores? Thanks!Marc

Hey folks,I am about to buy a new PC, in bits (one week to payday - woohoo!) I've been waiting/saving to do this for a really long time so I'm really going for it ;)I already have some lovely PC3-16000 memory (Patriot Viper 2x2Gb 2000Mhz) for some overclocking fun but to run this at full pace, it seems I need an n790i chipset mobo... At least I have yet to find a review where they got DDR3 to 2000Mhz on any other chipset (I've seen 1980MHz but it was a bit ropey).I quite fancied the ASUS Rampage Extreme with which I could use an ATI HD4870 X2 card which I wanted to get but I am worried about the memory not clocking properly. So, I could get a ASUS Striker II Extreme board…

Well i finally found a place that maxes out my 9800GTX 512 meg card. Sanfransisco. Yep 418 ai planes in air video ram at 99%, system ram 1.72 gig used. So it seems if you fly in not so crowded airspace . ie sydney YSSY 512 meg card will do, but big busy places like Sanfransisco or newyork, then go for a 1 Gig card, might have to be my next expenditure. oh by the way rame rtaes at 12 to 18 but fairly smooth, considering how busy it was.

Hi allYou know ive been becoming very jealous lately of the scenery packs around for FSX, They look simply stunning! Yet when you operate FSX on a PC on its own, with 0% addons, 0% Traffic it still demands so much, its jumpy, and stuttery and that leaves me to think what awful kind of performance it would bring with London VFR or UTX etc etc, im just so affaid to leave FS9 when even that seems to be choking now! I mean lately my FS9.1 has been choking itself in the London area, with 85% Traffic (World of AI) and PMDG 747-400 with LHR2008 & Flight1 Ground/Flight Enviroments. But ive defraged twice in the last week, uninstalled things that i really didnt need UT Europe/…

I have just got my new PC up and running. Was after a Q9650 but can no longer get them in New Zealand so got a Q9550 with E0 stepping. My other PC had a Q6700 and the temps on all 4 cores are usually within a few degrees of each other given the same work. This new Q9550 however has the 1st two cores running around 45, the 3rd core running at 30 and the 4th core around 25 and this is with them doing the same sort of work.Is this unusual or just normal? Hate to think I got a dud.John Veldthuishttp://www.virtualpilots.org/signatures/vpa475.png

Links to benchmark results and screenshots at the end...Here's the details:I have my main FSX install with addons on Vista 32.It has UT, GEX, and the water config add on, extra planes, etc.Same machine dual boots XP from a separate OS disc, with just a minimal install, but NO GEX or no UT.Both are using the Acceleration pack.Same PC, same hardware, but the Vista FSX directory is on separate dedicated vRaptor 150. The XP install is with the OS, on a fully name defragged HD, per Nicks great XP install/defrag tips. Both run nice and smooth.Biggest difference I noticed is with the XP install the ground textures just look more blurry in the distance. Could that be due to my XP …

I just bought a GTX 260 (w/216 stream processors), still unopened, and now I'm thinking maybe I should've gotten the GTX 280 for a couple hundred bucks more ($449). Would the 280 be overkill for FSX or should I go for it. It's not like I have mucho bucks to blow, but if there is a big difference in performance over the 260 I might go for it.Thanks for any input.Jeff

Hi folks,I'm building a new PC, and I had my mobo all picked out, the Asus P5E3 Premium (X48 chipset), and today when I went back to the webpage to buy it, it wasn't there. I called the place and they're not carrying it anymore, and I can't find any other store in Spain that has it. So on looking around, I found out that other chipsets can also support the QX9770, like the X38, p35 and p45. Now, these chipsets officially support a FSB speed of 1333, while the QX9770 needs 1600. Since I'm not too tech savvy, can anybody tell me if these chipsets do in fact support the QX9770? If so, I assume I have to OC the FSB to 1600 MHz, right? Is this easy to do? Can someone recommend…

I have 3 SATA drives currently connected to my MB (specs below). My original install was XPPro32 bit on my WD Raptor, which is now identified by Windows as the C: drive. I cloned that install onto a 500 gb Seagate using Acronis Home, and this cloned drive is now identified by Windows as my D: drive. I then did a full, manual install of XPPro 64 Bit onto an identical 500 gb Seagate to what is now identified as my E: Drive. I cloned that new E: drive to the Raptor C: drive, and I now have two identical installs of Windows XPPro 64 bit Edition with FS9 and all add ons on 2 drives: the Raptor Clone (C:) and the Seagate (E:) with a full backup of my original 32 bit system…

Hi,I've never understood 'STOP ERROR' messages and, I suspect, am far from being alone in this regard. Nevertheless, I'm now being forced into trying to understand the significance of at least one, the latest:IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUALSTOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x80521AE8)For some time now, I've been experiencing the occasional BSOD with the STOP: 0x0000000A error being reported. These are very intermittent, can occur several weeks apart and usually while playing a graphically intensive game. However, this latest instance was unusual in that yesterday it occurred, apparently spontaneously, during an extended period (several hours) while the computer…

Hey guys,I wonder if anyone knows a solution to this problem. Just started getting into FSX in the last year. I've had an X52 Joystick for about 4 months and am happy with it so far. I have also recently bought the Pro Flight Yoke system. My question is this. Is there a way to run both in FSX? I am guessing not. I want to do this because when I want to switch from plane to helicopter, I need to quit the game and swap over the controllers. Not a big deal, but a pain in the bottom when playing online. It's no big deal, but thought it was worth asking.

Phil Taylor mentioned using 4M - 10M for a bufferpools value, unless your video memory was over 512MB. With the GTX280 I'd guess you would double those values? Then I found Nicks post saying he runs 70M-100M?NickN - "FSX will only use 512MB of memory.. the rest goes to other things like bufferpools and the 2nd monitor however you do need to make sure to not go too high with that setting because you can start to see graphic 'spikes' like a video card memory is overclocked too much. I run 70000000 to 100000000 because I have a 768MB video card and can do that."Phils comments:http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/archive/2007...-week-or-2.aspx"So be careful here, making this smaller …

Hi allToms has (finally!) updated their FSX SP2 GPU Charts. The link is http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/radeon-hd-48...w-31433-22.htmlLooking at the charts the 9800GTX+ performs phenomenally well (when paired with an appropriate CPU of course). That Core clock at 675MHz and Shader Clock at 1675 just seems to have no equal (I run mine at 720/1800 with no issues whatsoever). The Readeons are still up to 30%(!!!) slower than Nvidia cards - wish we could find out what the real issue is here - this disparity has been going on for ages so it cannot be simply drivers. I also do not believe that Tom's is somehow biased. Any ideas anyone? Nick?I know that Tom's is not known as the be…
