Hi all, I would like to upgrade my CPU without buying a new motherboard. I currently have a Core 2 E6600 with ASUS P5N-E, 4 mb 667 ram and 9800gt. What is the best processor for FSX that can be installed into a 775 socket motherboard. I don't want to spend more than $500 in total. Is there anything else I should consider upgrading. I have a Q6600 on a GA-X38T-DQ6 with 2*2 Mushkin 991601 (DDR3) , rated at 1600 MHz and 7-7-6-18.Today I tried my first OC in stages, raising the Host f to 333 (from 266), PCI bus to 100 MHz, and 3.20 initially on the memory to give 1066 (incidentally shown also as SPD, I don't know if my BIOS is reading the memory correctly?). I have a DELL XPS Gen 4 that runs FS2004 (under Windows XP) and a huge number of hardware peripherals including GoFlight, CH, etc. Recently I took out my Track IR4 PRO gear and plugged it into the XPS via a USB hub and then a USB 2.0 port and nothing happened. I got repeated messages saying "Unknown Device."I then plugged the Track IR device into my DELL laptop (running VISTA) and it worked there using the Track IR 5 software. I then installed the same Track IR 5 software on the XPS and nada, zip, nothing. Not a bad cpu, will do till 965 i can get 965, So far have got to 3.5 Ghz stable with air, and not so fancy heatsink with no increase in temps. Have FSB at 233 MHz. Mem at 932 MHz, mem clock at 2097 ( 233 X 9 ),as well as HT. So far no issues with fsx, happy now wil leave it there.

Runnin a BFG GTX285 on my new system with a 23" LG 2ms LCD. I'm curious what speed HDMI cable I should get.I'm looking at monster cable (big fan) High Speed 700 thats rated for 10.2Gbps, which I believe is enough for PC games, however, it says it's only rated for 8bit color... I'm not sure how these specs relate to PC's.or should i just run DVI?

After installing a new case fan tonight and hooking it up to the forward 3-pin header, the computer won't post/beep. Immediately after unhooking the 3-pin and turning on the power, it booted right up. One more time to make sure indeed proved using this particular header will not allow the computer to post at all.Anyone had a similar problem?Should also note I tried two different working fans on the same header--same issue.

All:I have recently built a new i7 975 system (Asus Rampage 2 Extreme, 6GB Corsair Dominator 1866, Nvidia 285GTX). Currently, both the BIOS and OS (XP64) only recognize 4GB of RAM.When I first built the system in late June, the BIOS would recognize all 6GB of the RAM about 25% of the time, all other boots would only show 4GB. In CPU-Z, however, it would always see all 6GB of RAM. I then tested all sticks individually with Memtest and they all tested good. I also tested a single stick in each slot...I found it would not POST with only one stick in A1 (B1 and C1 were fine). Hello, I'm currently running an Intel Q9550 @ 4.0GHZ, Gigabyte EP45C-UD3R motherboard,Evga GTX285, 2 500GB 7200RPM hard drives, 1 150GB Velociraptor (FSX),a 1TB external hard drive, an external DVD burner. All of this is powered by a PC Power and Cooling 610 watt PSU. While I haven't had any lockups or crashes, I will occasionally get some graphic anomolies. Firs of all, hello.As per topic I'd like to upgrade my PC a bit and I'm on tight budget. As much as I'd like to get i7 it's out of question now. Right now I have core 2 duo E6750 running stable at 3.3GHz, 4GB Geil memory at 830MHz 4-4-4-12, Radeon 4850 512MB. All this on Win7 RC with FSX. I know this chip could go a little bit faster but the memory wouldn't (I tried). So the two options are: 1) get some better memory (like corsair dominator) and try to overclock the CPU more. But I don't think that would make much differenceor 2) change CPU for a quad core. But which one overclocks good? I can't afford q9550, so are q8400 or q9400 any good?
