Hi Everyone,Well, the Corsair memory I purchased (7-8-7-20) just went bad, it happened in a heartbeat. The computer was just sitting idle for about ten minutes, then a sudden reboot and now the inability to reboot the system in Windows.Memtest found close to 3,000 errors during the first two tests. I just got done completing their RMA form. This is the second time I purchased their state-of-the-art, top-of-the-line memory only to have it go bad. I'm beginning to wonder about this companies quality.Anyway, looks like I won't be flying for awhile.

Hello, Let me start off by saying that I am not the most techonologically savy individual, so please be patient with me. I have been trying for some time to optimize FSX for use on my PC. However, in order get it to run FSX somewhat smoothly, I have had to move some of the sliders to the left. At this point most of the setting sliders are set at medium high, and I am getting anywhere from 7-10 fps while taxiing at large airports to 15-19 fps while cruising. I would like to try to increase all of the display settings while also increasing my fsp to a steady 25 fps. I would also like to purchase some add-on scenery and aircraft, but I am leary to do so as I do not …

I have my resolution set to 1920x1080So will this Graphics card up to the job particularly as it only has 512 MB of memory?I am rather ignorant about computer hardware so any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks,

Hello Everyone, I have noticed several on-line ads claiming to be selling i7 920 CPU's that will overclock to 4.5 ghz and above with after market air cooling simply because they are D0 stepping and from a special production run - SLBEJ. They claim to be far superior than most i7 975's on the market and yet cheaper. Can anybody out there confirm this or is it a scam? Am I better simply buying an i7 950 from a shop and overclocking it?Regards,Stephen.

I am about to start my first OC (Q6600), and have researched as much as I think I need to know already other than the relationship of memory speed to the OC process. I have DDR3-1600 installed ( Mushkin 4GB (2x2GB) XP3-12800 7-7-6-18 1.9V). Currently, prior to overclocking, I see in BIOS "System Memory Multiplier = Auto", and "Memory Frequency = 1066". This is with the default CPU Host Frequency of 266 MHz.Most of the procedures that I have seen appear to require that a discrete memory frequency be set manually when over-clocking. Two questions- do I need to set this manually?- and if so, to what? I'm thinking of over-clocking in stages, to 333 (3.0 GHz), 389 (3.5 GHz…

Hi! Maybe somebody had these annoying failure.I start FS9 and everything goes perfect until a few minutes after takeoff. and sudenly my LCD turns black with a sign "No signal" and only with the sound of the fans at full speed.I think its something with the temp of the GPU or CPU. It does it only with FS9, so I

In anticipation of going to a 64-bit OS when Windows 7 is released I've just installed 4GB RAM into my system, previously I was running 2GB, and have hit problems trying to get FSX to run without suffering graphics corruption and crashes. The system appears to run normally otherwise and I'm seeing 3.25 GB RAM reported which I believe is correct. Before installing the RAM I had no such problems but did suffer some "snatching" or pauses when taxying in a system intensive aircraft like the Real Air Duke and sometimes AI Cessna 172s were all white.I've added the /3GB and /Userva=2560 switches to boot.ini and despite dropping the Userva value in steps of 64 as recommended her…

So, I've been reading through this forum for about 45 minutes and am finding a lot of conflicting opinions. So rather than just post the specs of the system I'm thinking about getting I'll phrase the question this way and take all opinions and ideas: If you had ~$1500 (give or take $100) to build a brand-new system for FSX what would you build?I'm really sick of running FS9 on my laptop with the graphics & traffic sliders at minimum getting 18fps with major stutters every time I turn final. I'd really like to run FSX without stuttering. In order to spend my budget on the best system hardware I will continue to use a 21" CRT monitor for the time being, so mega resoluti…

Hi Guys, wonder if any of you can point me in the right direction to identify an intermittent problem I have. Sometimes, when I start up the PC, it appears to start ok, all lights and fan etc come on, but I get nothing on my monitor screen. It may take 1 or sometimes a few attempts at turning off and then back on, for it to start normally. When it does start, everything is fine. Any ideas? thx, Mark

RE: i7 Core 975 EE CPU.The fact that you can adjust each element of your system, independent of the other...is true control of what you want to do.For instance, that you can overclock the CPU, without having to resort to boosting other clocks in your system...makes for great flexibility.I have my CPU 'clocked at 27 (bin) all four cores x 133.7 for an overclock of 3.609 GHz.I have my memory (stock Crucial 1066 MHz at 7-7-7-20-1T timings) set to 10x 133.7 for an overclock of 1337 MHz with the same fast timings. That I don't have to boost the BLcK-clock past 133.7 to overclock the CPU...allows you to address each component, rather than boost the BLcK-clock and effect other sy…

hi alli am very interested in getting opinions on anyone who has moved from a triplehead2go setup using the resolutions 1024 x 3824 to 1 30 inch display 2560 x 1600what is your opinion on the two, i do like my current YH2GO set up using 3 standard 19 inch displays but i am curious on one display as sometimes i feel the bezel on the three monitors spoils the realism when i am in the cockpit looking through my 3D glasses.

Hi all,I wonder if you could help me. It is time for me to upgrade my PC in the next few months. And I want a PC that will do FSX justice. I had to shelf it as the frame rate on my old PC were, to say the least, a bit on the low side!!I prefer commercial flying and using add-ons such as Precision's 747 and Level's 767. So does anyone have a rig specification that will run FSX in the low 20fps, stutter free, in a major hub such as KSEA or KLAX?Piccies would be gratefully welcomed. Here's hoping you can help. Thanks in advance.Michael H

Hi, I have a 2 year old HP m8187c computer with 2 Gig of Ram. I'm starting to bump into the upper limits on the ram and am considering upgrading to 4 Gig of Ram. I'm running Vista 32 bit OS. Here is the RAM specs (see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...82E16820134193)RAM specs: Kingston 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop MemoryAny thoughts on whether this is a good route to go or not. RAM is pretty cheap now so I am happy to go a different route if folks feel it will give me better performance. Here are the specs for my computer. Hi all,I planned to buy the Thermalright TRUE cooler, but ended up with the COGA TRUE Spirit 1366 (http://www.cogage.com/) after reading a review (http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/07/23/intel_core_i7_heatsink_roundup_q309/1). It's designed by people from Thermalright.ProsCheapVery effective - My temps are below 80C running OCCT @ 4GHz with an ambient temp of 23C. And this is with a single fan.ConsThe mounting bracket construction could be a lot better. They use the same type of push-pin mounting as the i7 box cooler. But I had no problem with the mounting.

I pulled this from another forum that I am on. Just thought I would share some of this info w/ my fellow simmers to see whats coming next. I know a bunch of us just upgraded to the current i7 with hopes that it could run FSX with no problems. Unfortunately, we have come to see that its still not happening yet. Do you think this new wave of processors will do it? Infomation about Lynnfield is starting to leak out, do you think it has anything to offer FSX?On the plus side, compared to the 920:- Less power consumption (not an FSX benefit!)- Cheaper processor on like for like clock speed and cheaper platform (in theory)- PCI controller intergrated into chip. No chipset northbridge. Lower PCI bus latency to Graphics card?On the down side- No evidence of rumoured stellar overclocks over 5Ghz. Best seen so far is 4.2Ghz- Like for Like performance on same clock speed in "CPU" applications (such as SuperPi)- Dual channel rather than triple channel DDR3. How much use to FSX is tripple channel?- P55 is an immature platform compared wit…

I HATE it when my computer keeps secrets from me! I tried running the 2GB switch because my computer has beeen crashing to a black/ dead monitor (hard crash) when running FSX in Vista 32. The command that I tried to use is: BCDEDIT/set increaseuserva 2560 This was done in the command prompt, run as Administrator. The computer responded back to me as follows: "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The maximum number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded"Does any one have a clue what is happening here, because I am at a total loss...My specs are:Windows Vista Home Premium 32 BitService Pack 13GB RamProcess…

I got two computers on my desktop. One more powerful for FS which is almost completely quiet. The other less powerful for office use make rather loud sound and it seems to be the CPU fan that is responsible. Common sense tells me it should be the other way around or no difference. The FS computerAMD X2 6000 (overclocked)8800GT 512M DDR34 Gb PC6400 RAMThe office computerAMD 64 4000+ (not overclocked)6600GT 256M DDR32 GB PC3200 RAMBoth has one harddrive. The FS computer has two 80mm case fans and the office two 120mm. The physical apperance of the CPU fans are very similary for both CPUs. So why should one make significantly more noise than the other? Is it as simple as to r…
