Howdy - First thank you to all who have replied to my posts in the past, your info was very helpful and appreciated. To make a long story short - I ordered a HP with AMD Phenom 1090T, based on price and all I read etc. When it arrived I found the power supply wouldn't support a decent video card (such as GTX 460 OC), so I returned the computer. Hard to believe, but I had asked HP for details on the psu before I ordered the computer and they didn't have the information available! They told me to order it and when I get it to open it up and look at the psu. I returned it to the retailer the next day and no restocking was charged - end of that story.New story. I'm g…

Hello all. I recently purchased an x25-M 80GB SSD for the system drive. It's installed and working properly--almost. I'm hoping someone in the forum stumbles across this with the same configuration as I.Upon running Intel SSD Toolbox, I can't select my SSD. When I do, the drives just refresh and the optimization options are greyed out. I know this is mostly due to the fact I'm on an Nvidia chipset which everyone else has had issues with, but I found a workaround. The workaround being to replace the Nforce IDE controller drivers with Microsoft's own. This has not helped me though... I'm thinking that because Intel Toolbox isn't able to use the drive, Tri…

Just found this one on the web: http://www.amazon.de...f_rd_p=46337509 It looks to be a good one and the prise is also nice, but I´m not sure whether this is really as goog as I think, don´t have much knowledge about PSU´s. Maybe someone can help out.

I am mainly an FS9 user. I have FSX but have always found it to be too resource demanding to beviable. Further, I’ve been a loyal user of FSNavigator for years. It is only recently that equivalentnavigation software is emerging in my opinion. I also run FS9 with Rex OD, AS6.5, Squawkbox, VAT-SP. Most of the time I get great frame rates, butthere are some scenery packages I have that will bring me to the low 20’s. A few even to upper teens at times. With unlocked FPS, I can cruise and see100/200FPS. Just recently, I’ve triedlocking the FPS at 40. Doesn’t help muchthough for certain scenery. I’ve hadthe same computer for 4.5yrs, though have done some upgrades to it …

I've just discovered this nice monitoring software.I like it, it's simple, complete and accurate. For now it's a freeware. You can try it out here.BTW, Real Temp 3.65 is out too and works with Sandy Bridge CPUs unlike AIDA64 and CPU-Z.You can find it here.

I'm getting ready to build a new Sandy Bridge system for FSX.Will use the i7-2600k CPU, ASUS P8P67 Deluxe Mobo, but not sure which Video Card! I do know I want to go with a nVidia GTX card. I'm trying to decide on whether to go with the EVGA Superclocked GTX570 or a GTX580. From everything I've read the FSX depends on CPU power more than the GPU, so is the GTX580 really necessary considering it'll cost me about $150 more? Anybody have any thoughts on this?Pete S.

So, how important to you is a mouse? I just thought of starting this topic to see how mice (trackballs, anyone using such thing?) are important to us simmers? For me, choosing a right mouse is worse than choosing a dress for a girl. Each 3-5 years I'm confronted with a heavy decision to change a mouse. Depending how long it's holding...Up until now, I had Logitech Revolution MX, and I *must* have back and forward buttons and a double click on the single button somewhere well positioned.Without those functions, I'm literally lost on my computer. I can work anywhere else with a simple mouse... but on my PC, it must have these functions. And it has to be a really good quality …

Hello everyone,Well, I joined you some time ago, but I actuallty never introduced myself before. So before posting, I just hope I will make some friends so that we can share opinions about planes, hardware, flight simulators, etc. I'm Spanish and I'm 27 years old.The point of this topic is that is a while I'm trying to build my PC for FSX. I want to spend some money for components that deserves it, and to start, I was thinking on the offer (now that is sales time) that I'm posting below. If some of you could advise me for this processor and mother board I'll be happy to read it. The PC will be only for FSX, to be able to install sceneries, adds-on software and as…

Hello guys,I am having trouble with my X52 Pro PS/2 port on the throttle side. There appears to be something wrong with it internally because unless I hold the cable at a certain angle and apply a certain amount of force, the computer does not recognize signals from the stick end. It will light up the LEDs on the stick, but will not read any button presses or axis movements. I have already replaced the cable but that has not solved the problem.I took the base of the throttle off to check the printed circuit board attached to the PS/2 port on the throttle. All the wires *appear* to be securely soldered and don't appear to be touching one another. At this point I am go…

Right now, I have i5-750 that is overclocked to 3.2ghz. When I fly to KLAX or KSEA I get 12FPS or less. I should note that my video card is an ATI 5970. I am well aware that FSX is a CPU intensive program, and therefore I've been considering purchasing a new CPU.Will I see a significant difference if I upgrade to i7-950 and overclock it to 4ghz? (can it be overclocked to 5ghz?) This will cost me close to $500 (new motherboard, CPU, and cooling system.) Is it worth it from where I am right now?Thank you!

Hello people and Season's Greeting!I built my system a year ago; was not able to overclock pretty high wihtout errors (i finally found a failing OCZ memory stick 2 weeks ago) so i bought Corsair 3x2gb 1600mhz kit and re-tried overclocking up to stable 4.0 with 12 hrs of Prime :Applause: Started FSX hoping to see a nice improvment :Praying: It did, WHEN it passed the plane selection screen wihtout crashing.....Always a .dll but never the same, sometimes ntd.dll, g2d.dll, g3d.dll etc...A sure way to crash FSX was using either the JustFlight A-319 (from CYUL to KLAS would crash after 90 minutes) or Flight1 Mustang over any PNW or NA Blue from Orbx, invariably crash wihtin …

I did say I would post up after getting things going. Previous spec: E8400 @4.25GHz4GB DominatorXFX 5850 @950/1200New Spec:2500K @4.3GHz (not had time to play just yet)4GB Geil5850@ 950/1200Previously, I'd been having issues with blurries, and had managed to get to at least smooth flight via the FFTF=0 and internally limit to 30 (as I currently am btw), but the visual result was poor with loading textures becoming very apparent in anything but fair weather and away from cities. Now, the NL2000v4 scenery that I'd obsessed about so long loads perfectly, very sharp, LOD radius increased to 5.5, cloud draw increased to 70 mi, weather or no weather, rock solid 30fps. I have onl…

Remember those reports of "issues" with socket 1155 much like those found with some early socket 1156 boards? The single board that was observed to have burnt pins has been verified by Gigabyte to be a faulty board that was incorrectly sent to the reviewer that noted the issue. According to a spokesman "Our testing involves overclocking and other various tests to which no motherboard should normally be exposed – we’re basically testing durability, and durability is determined when the board dies." You can read more here.

Hi GuysAm putting together new Sandy Bridge build and am moving from i5 570 @ 3.6Ghz to i5 Sandy 2500k at hopefully 4.7Ghz with a H70 Cooler. I have been using GSKILL F3 12800 DDR3 PC 1600Mhz Memory Cas 8 with my old system. Would this memory be good for the new build or should I be thinking about something else. The system components are:Sandy i5 2500kNvidia 570GTXH70 CoolerI am still thinking about upgrading to SSD's for the operating system and a seperate one for FSX but its still pretty expensive....ThanksHamish

Hey guys,I had a PC Power&Cooling 750 that gave up on me last night after 3 years of service. Luckily it's still under warranty so I will RMA it when I get some time.In the meanwhile, I'd like to get a new PSU as I'm slowly buying parts to a new system. The Corsair HX 1000 looks promising as well as the the Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1000.1000w is what I'm looking for but would like to keep it under $200 at the same time. On Newegg the Corsair is currently $220 and the CM is $200. Then I kept browsing and found this Antec for $170. Seems to have to good reviews. Wondered if anyone around here has experience with it.I see the the Corsair has a mail-in-rebate th…

Hi,Narrowing down my hard drive choice to either a 300gb Velociraptor 10,000rpm for my OS and a seperate 300gb Velociraptor 10,000rpm for FSX OR an SSD for the OS and a seperate one for FSX.My question is this.... If i go the SSD route is there any disadvantage by having a 320gb SSD for both os and fsx as i understand the main benefit of having seperate hard drives is that fsx will load faster and load textures faster as its pulling off its own hard drive and hasnt got to find it all mixed up with windows. On an SSD that wont be the case will it as it will always be in the same place so i cant see any benefit of having 2x160gb SSD instead of one 320gb?Matt

Hi all,I've been watching these forums for a few years now but I've only just signed up, so Hello everyone. To business: I'm looking at building a new gaming setup. I'm looking at it for FSX, but I also will use it for many other games such as Cod, battlefield, Medal of Honor etc. I'm pretty tech minded, and have built PCs in the past, so I dont need help in that department. I'm looking at a SB 1155 system or a 1366 system. I know that the new SB K's overclock well, but I want maximum possible performance, at minimum cost, and is guaranteed to OC to 4GHz+ and stay stable. I've heard there were one or two issues with the new SB chips. I don't want any hastle so I want a sy…
