Could someone please share some info on the best way to go about OC? What speed, voltages, settings, etc should I start off with? My goal is to reach a stable 5.2GHz OC. But I would like to take my time to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. I plan on starting with 5.0GHz on all cores and performing some tests to see if it's stable, and if it passes proceed to 5.1GHz and so forth. My questions are: What CPU Voltage should I use for 5.0GHz, 5.1GHz, and 5.2GHz all core OC? What AVX offset to use? Is Loadline Calibration needed? Are there any other settings that I need to change? What apps to use for testing stability? Prime95, Cinebench …

Good morning I bought a 10" fire tablet and have used it in conjunction with my main screen to display the HSI on the tablet while using the main screen for visuals in MSF2020. But I got to thinking that what I would really rather do is put the outside view on the tablet and use the main screen only for cockpit instrumentation display. Have any of you folk tried this or done something similar ? Jim

Due to limited finances when I built my current PC in December 2019, I used the 2x2TB 7200rpm Toshiba hard disks that were installed in my previous PC. However, I am now considering upgrading the main drive to an SSD/NVMe, and I have a couple of questions:- It seems that the NVMe M2 drives that can be installed on motherboards are considerably faster than the standard SSD drives. Are they worth the extra cost? I would be looking at a 1TB drive. Is there a way to transfer my OS and all files that are currently on my C:\ drive to the new drive, and then make that the boot drive? In other words, without having to reinstall everything again. I am reasonably …

Hi all, Today I upgraded my front view server to a 12900 K / Asus ROG Strix Gaming D4 / 32 Gb 4266 mhz cas 16 ( already had a R`TX 3090 ). Anyone using a 12700 K / 12900 K and might share his config for the cpu ? It has fast P-cores and slower E-cores. How to set them up so it is best for MSF`S ? Thanks in advance.

A very good day! I would appreciate any comments regarding the performance of this system. Where I work we get a pretty big discount on this PC and it doesn't justify me buying parts from different vendors and building from scratch. Yes, I agree that I can save some money (in my situation about $400) doing it myself, unfortunately, with my last build I ran into issues with the warranty or parts availability, and I don't have the patience anymore. Specs: 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i9 12900KF (16-Core, 30MB Cache, 3.2GHz to 5.2GHz w/Turbo Boost Max 3.0) Windows 11 Home NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3090 24GB GDDR6X 64GB Dual Channel DDR5 at…

Hello, I am currently running an Intel i9-9900K with a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4. I am looking to potentially upgrade to an Intel i7-12700K. Is this a smart move? Doing the usual flight simming P3D and MSFS. My graphics card is an older GTX 1080 but i do not see myself upgrading it any time soon with the terrible GPU prices... Thanks in advance!

Hi, So far I've used my child computer for flight simulator mainly for IFR flights FWB 320 with 1920x1080 resolution. It was i5-8600K with 16GB RAM and GTX1060 6GB. I was quite happy with this configuration having most settings on medium. I had little slutters on Fly Tampa Copenhagen or freeware Gatwick airports, nothing serious. Now, I'm thinking about buying a low budget computer exlusively for flight simulator. Mostly IFR flights with 1920x1080 resolution, the one that will allow me to put most settings on High. For example an i5-10600K, 32 GB, GTX 1660 Super, it suites my budget. Would it be much differance if I buy the same configuration but with …

I have an 8700K overclocked modestly to 5.00 GHz on all cores. GPU is a RTX 3090, HDD's are NVMe drives. I think all the other hardware (MOBO, RAM) would be replaced if I upgraded, so probably not relevant. I am flying MSFS and DCS only now on a 4k TV. I have been pretty happy with performance, but do reach some stutters. I have not done any formal measures of FPS. If money is not an object (it always is, but assuming), is it worth it to get a new CPU, MOBO, and/or RAM? I think I would be looking at the 11900K, 12700K, or 12900K. Outwardly the 11900K has a high out of the box clock and is cheaper, but in general would expect the 12900K to be a little more futu…

I'm considering buying the prebuilt linked below. I want to have at least two bays to install SSDs, but I can't tell from these pictures (or the Ibuypower site) how many there are or even if they exist. I contacted Ibuypower but received no response. Does anyone have any experience with installing extra drives in this case? The model is Trace MR 5. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypower-trace-mr-gaming-desktop-intel-i7-11700kf-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080ti-12gb-1tb-nvme-ssd/6472354.p?skuId=6472354

I understand, maybe wrongly, that the DDR5 ram are not working as well as the DDR4 one on a Z690 motherboard. Is it true and is it worthwhile to wait a few months for the dust to settle ?

So I scrounged up the time/gumption/$$$ to upgrade my PMDG 737NGXu / GoFlight rig with a new Z690 AORUS mobo, 64GB of DDR4-3200 CL 16 RAM, a new Core i9-12900K along with the necessary Corsair LGA 1700 Retrofit Kit (for my H150i cooler) and then fired up P3Dv5.2HF1. During my initial flights with high-density city/airport scenery (such as New York City/Airports X, Flight Beam's KDEN, FSDreamTeam's KDFW, LatinVFR's KMIA at highest settings -- don't try this without a card with more than 11GB of VRAM -- etc). At some point I noticed that both Windows 10 21H1 (via the Performance tab in Task Manager) and Intel Xtreme Tuning were reporting a "Max Core Frequency" of well un…

Greetings, I have a new custom PC with Ryzen AMD 3700X CPU and RTX 3090 24Ghz GPU, 1000 Watt PSU. Running P3Dv5.2, I operate with moderate settings, most below max. Most of my concern is with CPU temp in the 80-90C range. The guy who put this package together did so with MSFS in mind. Are these kind of temps normal?

Just wondering if MSFS would benefit from going up from : 32 Gb 3200 mhz / cas 14 to 32 Gb 4266 mhz / cas 16. CPU : 12900K I have read many reviews/tests and in one game the difference is 7-8% but in the next bearly 1%. As DDR5 is out of stoch in Europe for the next 4-5 months and the current DDR5 memory has high timings I want to buy a new DDR4 config . What do you guys think ?

To upgrade my 7940X server I want to go for the 12900K. Regarding motherboards there are DDR4 and DDR5 compatible versions. Here in Europe you cannot buy DDR5 at the moment and the time it will be available can go up to 35 weeks from now. In benchmark tests the difference is 5-7% in overall performance when using DDR5 compared to DDR4. Surely I do have DDR4 memory : 32Gb 3200 MHz cas 14 already. So wait till DDR5 becomes available or go for a DDR4 motherboard? Does MSFS benefit from more DDR5 bandwidth and can Windows 10/11 handle it ?

My current that I built in 2014 is a bit long in the tooth. I’ve used a i7-4790K CPU with a GTX 1070 GPU and 16 gigs of DDR3 2400 ram, and an Asus 1080p display. My hope is to assemble a new rig that will enable me to run Prepar3d v5 and MSFS 2020 with mostly ultra settings and to move up to a larger 1440p or 4K display. To date, I have acquired a Fractal Meshify case with plenty of airflow, a Ryzen 5800X CPU, a 1000 watt PSU, and 32 gigs of GSkill Ripkaws V DDR4 3600 ram for this build. Good start. My question today is what motherboard will best serve my needs for a flight sim rig, the more mainstream B550 chip based Mobos, or the more enthusiast oriented Mobos bas…

I using currently a around 8 year old PC only with some parts upgraded. The current specs are listet below. But I want a new one which can run flight sim better and with better graphic and frames. Currently at most situations I'm stable of course. But when flying with FSLabs into Amsterdam,Frankfurt etc then it gets worse. Not to mention special addons know been very frames hungry like Gaya Sim etc. I already looked at some points, currently I'm waiting for the new Alder Lake Intel CPU to be released to see prices and value. GPU will be a RTX3080 or a AMD 6800XT better? Any other ideas? RAM will be 32GB for start and later maybe more, SSD is 1TB primary for flights…

I understand that the difference between a K and a F processor is the iGPU that the F doesn't have. Does it mean that the F has no graphic display at all even rudimentary ? I had once a CG dying on me with the 4770K and I was happy to rely for a short while on the coarser iGPU display before installing a new card.

Just built my new pc, and I'm getting worse fps than my old pc with the same version of p3d (v5 latest HF), same addons, same in game settings. New pc: ryzen 5900x, asus strix 3090, 64 gb corsair dominator platinum 3600, samsung 980 pro m.2 old pc: 9900k (oc 5.0ghz), 2080ti, 32 gb tridentz z 3200, samsung 970 evo m.2 Any ideas? Is it possible the ipc uplift with the 5900x at 4.5 ghz can't compete with the 5.0 ghz overclock of the 9900k?

Hi there, I am currently thinking about upgrading my PC build but I have quite a few questions I can't answer by myself. Here is my current build that I did by myself : - ASUS Z170I PRO Gaming Mini ITX (Got a small form factor case that I love - Bitfenix phenom m) - Intel Core i5-6600K (3.5 GHz) - Noctua NH-U12S - G.Skill RipJaws 5 Series 2 x 8 Go DDR4 2400 MHz CL15 - MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING 8 Go - 1 TO SSD (OS ) - 2 TO SSD ( MSFS) - LDLC 550W Quality Select 80PLUS Gold - Windows 10 Home FFP 64Bit And here are my questions : - First, is it a good idea that I only upgrade the motherboard and processor…

Hi guys. I know this is yet another hardware question that has probably been thrown at you a million times, but...I really struggle with this tech stuff. I want a new PC. I understand that buying 'off the shelf' isn't a bad option at the moment, due to the scarcity of 'bits'. So. I don't want to spend TOO much if I don't have to, naturally. But I don't want the frustration of stutters. We've all had that experience I'm sure, and for me, its the single most immersion quashing aspect of simming. So: i7-11700 KF. 16GB RAM. GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB £1749.00 i7-11700 K. 16GB RAM. GeForce RTX 3070 8GB £2200.00 i9-11900 K 32GB RAM. GeFor…

Gigabyte Z590 AORUS ELITE AX ATX Motherboard. Intel i5 10600K CPU. PC closed down this morning and it turns out that the CPU temperatures are no longer showing in either the BIOS or HWInfo. This stopped the Corsair H 80 fans and the CPU fan, causing the close down. The two fan headers are now off but plugging the H 80 into another header has reactivated the fan and let the PC run. My question is this: Is this a fault in the CPU or is it a fault on the motherboard? An informed answer would be most welcome, I can make my own guesses. Thank you. This is the BIOS.
