Noctua Industrial NF-F12. 120mm fan. $28 each. 3000 rpm. For the noise shy, best stay away. I've yet to see any temps as high as 62C in MSFS. Almost always in the 50's. One 120mm fan on a Ryzen 5 5600x with a new Corsair H60 water cooler. Two fans famous for cooling: The Noctua Industrial NF-F12 (3000 rpm). And the Phantex T30 (4000). Temp chart. Degrees C above room temperature. The two fans mentioned will cool to 35 and 36 C above room temperature at full speed. The Noctua NF-F12 (57) is NOT the same fan as the Industrial version (35). "Phanteks T30 Performance" (44) not the same as "Phanteks T30" (36) ----- Noise chart Vertical axis 0…

i found this video very interesting, it's about intel's new unreleased graphics cards (specifically the A770 here) being awesome with DX12, but not very good with DX11 or DX10. However, Intel say they're going to price them based on DX11 performance so they could be an absolute bargain for DX12 MFS use. Also mentioned as an aside is that nVidia may delay release of some 4000 models because prices have fallen since cryptocurrency values fell.

Hello all, I've been using a relatively modest generic PC for 4-5 years now and I'd like to get some opinions on the viability of a component upgrade vs a new system. I run MSFS with mostly high settings and fairly decent performance (using PMDG 737, add on airports, etc..) but I feel the visual quality is lacking. I'm okay with the 25-30 FPS I get but everything looks not nearly as sharp as what others post on these forums. Would like to get some expert input.... i7 7700 @3.6Ghz 16G RAM with two open slots Generic 1070 card w/8G MSI Bazooka MS-7A70 mobo that can't be overclocked HP 27" Monitor...budget special Would a newer generation video card work…

Latter i don't know yet if i will change it for a 4K 50"Tv, but for now it's this. I saw a lot of threads and some youtube videos and i reached 2 builds and now i need to understand pros and cons of eah one. Curious what you've gotten away with and for how long if you will. I've babied mine and it runs cool but might be able to squirt out a few more gigahertz as there will be a point for me maybe in the next 2y where I will want to replace it anyway. Been at [email protected] for 2.3 years now. Actually started at 1.180 then maybe 6 months ago felt I needed to go to 1.185 as I got a couple of hard freezes and overclock failures.

Hi everyone, Im looking at a pc upgrade and was considering a pre-built machine, but I’m now kind of looking at attempting to build it myself, more so for the fun factor as well as self satisfaction. I have a few questions: 1) will be a first time build, I’m a little nervous, is this something I should even attempt? My skills are ok, I can change graphics cards, ram etc but never tried a complete build yet. 2) I priced a pre-built, then priced out individual components to the pre-built systems, seems there is no real cost advantage to building myself, or am I misunderstanding something? I thought building myself would save some money but It doesn’t seem to …

Good evening all, I just went to pickup my new motherboard (MSI Pro Z690-A) and CPU, I originally went with the intention of picking up the i7-12700K and after a long chat with a very knowledgeable sales guy who I have dealt with before I actually came away with the i5-12600K. He asked me what I was planning to do with my new build and I told him it was exclusively for MSFS 2020 with some video editing using Davinici resolve. He was in the same boat last year and was ready to buy the i7-12700K but went for the i5-12600K and a 3070TI instead and it handles every game he throws at it with ease as well as streaming at the same time. He could easily just have sold me the…

Dell has a gaming laptop for sale and with another discount, I could end up paying around $450. How well would it work for two or three screens set up? I am working on my PPL and want to practice routines and eventually use this for instrument type flying. Nothing too fancy but I do want it to be fairly realistic. I am actually a Mac user but have old CH yoke and pedals and don’t want to spend too much money on a Windows computer I am fairly certain the CH gear won’t work with my M1 Macs so I figure I need to do an upgrade somewhere, either controls or new PC and am partial to a laptop Thanks! Here’s the laptop. https://deals.dell.com/en-us/member/prod…

I built the below specs couple years ago was wondering if a CPU upgrade would help me with MSFS 2020 at all or will the upgrade show little results? Appreciate it! Intel Core I7- 10700K 32 GB of Ram 3080TI Graphics Card

Hi all, It has been a couple of years since I built my primary flight sim PC and I am getting the itch to build another. However, since it has been a couple of years I haven't really been keeping an eye on what is the latest and greatest 'new tech'. My current primary FS system is this Intel Core i9-9900K CPU DDR4 3400 RAM 32GB ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) Z390 MOBO NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 Ti GPU Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB I was thinking of going for a top of the line intel CPU and a 3080ti GPU together with some faster DDR4 RAM. However, I am really not sure whether I would see much difference in MSFS or not. Obviously the price …

Tally ho folks, I have just built a new PC but the i12900ks is currently running at max 3.4Ghz - I was under the impression that there was some kind of turbo mode on these CPUs that would take them up to 5.xGhz without doing all that awful overclocking rubbish (changing voltages etc.) Does anyone know if it’s possible or how to do it? I just feel I’m not quite using the CPU’s full potential at the moment.

I usually do writeups for screenshots of liveries, or screenshots of addon aircraft. I'm really excited for this post because I've finally been able to do a brand new PC build - case and all. The GPU will have to wait though technically....it's just so hard to find a RTX card here in the Midwest of the USA. It's been well over a decade since my last full build (IE new case/PSU and other parts etc) so I'm a little out of that loop. My existing PC is a frankenstein ha! It's my original Corsair 650D case, but with 4790K (original 2500K), 32GB ddr3 ram (originally 16GB DDR2 ram), Z97 Pro AC (originally P67A I think) board, GTX 1080 Ti (originally a GTX 970 with the…

I am in the middle of a new PC build and I am modifying a Cooler Master HAF-X (huge beast, remember those?). Anywho, I'vebeen taking out the fans, cleaning them and noticed that the front and top fans have a grill pattern and then sandwiched between that and the fan is a fine mesh. As a test, I took out the mesh and the air flow increase like 50%! So now I am thinkin' what's better to leave that mesh in place and clean it as always or take out the mesh and get that air moving? Sure I guess the whole idea is to catch all that dust but.... What do you guys think? Have better filtering or have better intake airflow?

Hello everyone, I recently discovered that on my system only half of my installed RAM is actually used by my system. My system is old, i know, but my system does the job and we all have our priorities. ;) I have 32 Gigs of Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 RAM installed, which is supported according to the manual. The thing is: - BIOS, on startup and in menu, shows only 16GB installed instead of 32 GB. - BIOS "SPD menu" correctly shows all 4 x 8GB installed with correct CL10 timings also being shown. Same goes for "DRAM timing control" - Windows 10 task manager shows 32 Gigs of RAM installed, but 16,1 Gigs "reserved for hardware", what? - HWinfo64 also …

So performing a new build today... new everything and those M2 SSDs, my first encounter. I see you have these thermal pads used to stick onto the RAM. What I noticed is on one location when I place a stick and then place the cover (with the thermal pad on it), where one screws the ram secure (or in my case a little rotating switch), there is a bump from the screw into the pad. Should I worry? Should I notch out of the pad where the mounting screw sets. I even saw a vid where you are to cut the pad into twp sections - one to cover the ram itself and the other to cover the controller. Making too much of this? Its an Asus voard (see specs),

Hi all, So I just completed my first ever pc build and it went flawlessly, surprised as how easy it was and I’m quite proud of it, I don’t think I’ll ever buy a pre-built again now that I’ve built my pc once. There were moments where I had to google some things but on the overall it’s a simple process, Anyways, now with the new build I want to monitor temperatures for the next little bit to get some comfort in knowing it’s operating in a decent range, curious as to what is out there to monitor temps? Any recommendations? Thanks

I have not used MSFS in a while (2-3 months). The release of the PMDG NG3 and the Maddog had me dust this back off. I updated MSFS and all the add-ons. The only items in my community folder are the Maddog, FBW A320, and WT CJ4. Since returning, MSFS is causing my computer to restart suddenly, as if the power went out (but it hasn't). There's no error message. No warning. Performance seems very smooth all the way up to the abrupt end. It has happened twice with the Maddog, once on the ramp and once just after takeoff. And I think it happened with the PMDG NG, but I had stepped away while it was compiling WASM for the first flight and came back to my login scre…

Hello, I have not much knowledge about the M.2 SSDs and the different standards they use. I would like to buy a new MOBO and aim for the Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X as they say it has 4x M.2 I'd like to add Samsung 980 Pro into it. As far as I understand, I could one day add 4 SSDs into it, is that right? I have also "normal", old style SATA(?) SSDs here which I also want to use. Can anyone say, how many of them I can connect to this MOBO? many thanks!

Hi folks, I’m looking at buying the following system, keep in mind budget is a huge factor and I absolutely have to stay within a certain budget. Looking to see what is the general opinion on the following system: ( fyi I’m coming from my system in my sig, my computer is only used for flight simming, and I only use msfs, no other sims, no VR for me ) Operating System: Windows 10 Home CPU: Intel Core i7-11700F Rocket Lake 2.5GHz (4.9GHz Turbo) 8-Core 16-Thread GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB ( Motherboard: ASUS Prime B560M-A RAM: 16GB DDR4 3000MHz (2x8GB) SSD: 1TB M.2 NVMe SS PSU: 650W 80 Plus Gold (Brand May Vary) Cas…
