As my new processor nudges closer and closer from a New Jersey warehouse, I'm doing a lot of research in preparation for my new toys.I'm curious as to what some of you capable Z68 owners think about Lucidlogix virtu software. I like the idea of being able to utilize all of my 2600K's features, including the Quick Sync, etc (even if I never use them). Anyone using this software and how? iGPU? dGPU? Is it more a gimmick or what? I'm really curious as to rather or not the software is maturing quickly.

Hi all, My system is AMD6400+ BE 4GB PC6400 PLUS A 9800gtx+ running Windows 7 64bit. I get around 15-19 fps on the ground in level-d at mega airport Frankfort. I will in the end go for a Intel 2500k but in the mean time would I get a fps boost by going for a 560ti with my existing System? Or is the bottle neck my AMD6400? MARK

Hi Guys,I posted the same question in the FSX forum since it involved installing FSX on my new system but I didn't realize the connection to overclocking my cpu made it more a hardware issue so I am posting it here. I apologize for the inconvenience it caused.I spent much time overclocking and tweaking my new homebuilt with help from someone with much experience to a stable overclock of 4.0 ghz. so I could get FSX to finally run without any worries about stutters, choppy framerates, low sliders, etc. I have read about many FSX users who have FSX running at top performance with most options turned up.I never new overclocking would be such an issue regarding the installatio…

Hello all. I am wondering if there is any chance that my video card is creating a bottleneck in my system. My specs are: i7 2600k oc'd to 4.7ghz gigabyte p67-ud3-b3 gigabyte gtx 560ti oc 8gb corsair ram @1600 9-10-9-27 corsair H70 cooler HAF 922 case pc power and cooling 750watt psu seagate 1tb hd ...I have essentially a stable oc, but i occasionally see black squares on the ground while panning, and especially while panning around aircraft they appear where the lights are. My cfg is primarily stock, save for the highmemfix and disable preload. I have my TBM at 100. I also can't reall do more than 27fps locked; if i go higher, it stutters badly. So, I am wondering is the…

Hey Guys!I usually keep a close eye on these Forums yet i very rarely post, must be shy i guess Any ways Im on vacation over here in the United States from New Zealand and i must say that PC components are far cheaper than they are back home so i've gone a little nuts and pretty much spoiled my self to a brand new Rig that i've wanted to construct for sometime. My Specs are in my signature and yes my CPU says 4.6Ghz (im yet to overclock it) but its only at stock as of now. i'll list the followingCPU:i7 2600KMobo: MSI P67A-G45 (B3) Ram: 8GB Corsair 1600PSU: Coolermaster 750wattCorsair: H60 cpu water coolerEVGA GTX 570 super clockedI feel pretty confident that these compone…

I've finished the final steps of my new build. This was the easiest MOBO/CPU swap I've ever done. After wrapping my head around UEFI (wasn't hard) I was off to OC'ing and testing. This has been the easiest, most stable overclocking system ever, and every thing has gone without a single hitch--so far. Next I just need to get FSX reinstalled and running after I save this OC profile and revert to defaults. One thing I must say (the thing I really got on here to share). Take your time when throwing a system together. My complacency almost got me in real trouble. When I pulled real temp up, I was seeing an idle temp of 80-85C. I yanked the power cord out immediately upon…

I've almost always purchased my hardware as OEM, and not really had any issues at all.I'm slowly planning my next upgrade and now beginning to wonder though...Something like the i7-2600 - Is there any reason to believe that an OEM version might not over-clock as well as a retail unit? Thanks

Looks like you are going to need a 6 core to oc the replacement for 1366 platform as the quad core is not unlocked....maybe an expensive deal for the benefit of quad channel ram?http://www.zdnet.com/blog/computers/intels-three-sandy-bridge-e-processors-to-be-known-as-core-i7-3000-series-extreme-edition/6384

I have my i7 overclocked to 4.5 (specs in signature). Why does my CPUz show a multiplier of 45 when on load, and 16 when on idle (I have c states and EIST enabled), and doesn't show this: (16-34) next to the multiplier. Here is what I mean: http://www.google.com/m/search?site=images&source=mog&hl=en&gl=us&client=safari&q=i7%202600k%20cpuz&sa=N#p=0Is there something I have to enable in the BIOS to get a range of multipliers?

Hi,(I did a search on the internet , but I found little results and some said one thing some said another )I recently bought an i7 2600. Looking at the specs I see that the stock speed is 3.40, but if "turbo-boosted" it will reach 3.80.Does this happen automatically, or do I have actually do something like "activate" the turbo-boost?thanks.

Dear All,(I hope I am doing the right thing by posting this here and not in the main FSX thread!)I have to confess that whilst I know alot about flying, computers have moved foward far faster than I can cope with and I really do know nothing about them! I got a top of the range Novatech PC a few years a go which has so far been able to run everything i have thrown at it on full settings. Now the real flying has died down I thought it would be good to install FSX to relive the good old days. And it just runs horribly. I either get constant 15 frames a second (if frame rate limited to 30) or 25fps which every 30 seconds or so goes to 1fps with an accompyning white noise sou…

Hi Guys,Having installed my CPU, Heatsink and ALL the other components required for our beloved FSX, I began to wonder if I'd applied the CPU thermal paste correctly? So is there any guidelines as to what the NORMAL operating temperature should be? I know it will vary because people are using different Heatsinks and Cooling equipment, but is there,......... for example a MAX danger level Temperature or MIN temperature guidline. At the moment my temperature is 46 degrees C (after 1 hour running time)based on a 2600K cpu (NOT overclocked)Does this appear HIGH or LOW?Hope you can understand this waffle......RegardsJohn

Hi folks!First of all, im pretty average in computer skills. Dont know enough about pc`s, but I know more than my dad. Anyways, just had a weird incidentwhich freaked me out, because I dont want to wreck my newly buildt computer. Yesterday I turned it on, did some FSX, surfing, registry cleaning etcand turned off before I went to bed. Nothing unusual. As it was turning off Win7 was installing some updates. Today, however, I came in here to boot it up again. What happened next was, for me, very strange. It made several attemptsat booting, but before the boot screen even came up, the computer rebooted itself two or three times over, and I figured something was wrong. Finall…

I was told overclocking is bad for the computer and that I shouldnt do it. I was told that if I have a good video card and ram there is no reason to oc. (right now I have a gtx 570 and 8gb of ram) but isnt overclocking necessary to run fsx at high settings? Right now Im @4.7ghz with 1.44v is this ok?

I am looking at getting a new high performance gaming machine for my 88 year old father (ex RAF/RCAF WWII Bomber pilot) who needs a new computer to run FSX. He is currently running FSX on very old and slow machine so its like watching a slide show.I do not want to build my own for him. This one at Future Shop appears to do the trick. I would strip off of all the commercial stuff that is loaded onto the computer, buy a 2 Terabyte USB 3.0 HD and load FSX onto the HD.I would then buy a wide variety of the top end addons and "beef" up his flightsim experience to similar to mine. Can I please get some reviews of this computer/specs etc.? I am not familiar with CyberpowerP…

Hi There,Just after some advice on the way FSX interacts with HD/SSD drives. This is my current set-up at the moment (New Build):SSD-1: Windows 7 64bitSSD-2: FSX + Airports and SceneryMy question is I'm running out of space on the FSX SSD drive and therefore Im looking at purchasing another drive for my FSX addons. If I aquire another drive for lets say: ASA, REX, Radar Contact etc,........... Will FSX be able to interact with this additional drive.I hope you can figure-out what I'm trying to achieve. Many Thanks guysJohn

I just pulled the trigger on a 2600K and the Asus Z68 "-V Pro". I only jumped because I found the $210 MOBO for $130... Some of you may remember I got my current sig system (i7 960) because I got the CPU for dirt cheap 7 months ago.I am suffering some intense buyer's remorse, as I skipped on the Oshkosh trip this year. I'm hoping to see some nice gains in performance with FSX as I've yet to see anyone that made the same "sidegrade" I'm making. Wish me luck and opinions/critiques are welcomed!EDIT: Sorry about the misleading title. That was supposed to be in the subject line.

Happy Saturday everyone!Ok, I'm just about to pull the trigger on a new build and wanted to get some advice about a few things. I"m going to be installing the Intel Sandy Bridge 2600k and wanted to get some feed back about which mother board to install. Its between the Asus Maximus IV Extreme LGA 1155 and the Asus P8P67 Delux. Is the Maximus overkill? Or will it help me get to a 5OC? I also saw somewhere that its a huge MOBO, and I need to find a case that will fit it accordingly. Any thoughts on cases? Also, I was going to go with a corsair H80, but see that the new H100 is set to come out. Is it worth the wait, and will I have to find a case that will also house the bigg…
