Doing my learning prior to building my own rig. Two ram questions: How much does CL 7vs8vs9 matter in FSX with a lot of addons? It seems as though 1600 is the right speed for ddr3, right? FYI I'll be running an I5 2500k on an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 MOBO. Thanks Dan Cole

I was born in Savannah, Georgia but I'm now in London. So yeah... hello everyone! This will be my main forum so I thought it would be best to introduce myself here. Di x

I'm horrible at networking. Do I need a different sort of ethernet cable (I've heard the term patch before) two connect my laptop which runs Win7 to my friend's which runs Vista? We want to play Age of Empires II against each other. Can we do this with a basic cat 5e cable or do we need something special?

Hey I have to display cards on my system , one is an integrated HD 3000 series and the other a PCIE HD 5450 1GB. I know both these cards are incompatible with each other for Crossfire and FSX does not support crossfire. Now the funny thing is , just out of curiosity I tried the ATI Cfx Xtension and noticed a rise of 8-9 fps on the same settings , but now again those 8-9 fps have gone away to party , I checked with GPU-Z sensors the first card 3000 shows just the two clocks and no other info but when in fsx mode both these dude's go to full red and the other HD 5450 gets a load of around 50%. So does anyone thing that it did implement crossfire for those couple of times,…

Hi Guys, Would FSX (and other stuff) load faster with a SSD drive or a Sata III mechanical drive. I am having both fitted to my new system, and I was thinking of having the SSD drive as the boot drive, and FSX on the Sata III drive. Just one other question, is there any advantage with Windows 7 PRO 64bit, over, Windows 7 HOME 64bit, with running FSX and other stuff. Thanks all for looking. JCC.

How do you monitor your computer temps? Is there a program that I need to download? I haven't done any overclocking yet but I've noticed the side of my computer which houses my cpu is really hot, and I can even smell the components heating.

Hello! I'm sorry that i started a new topic about the same thing, but i want to keep everything about this rig in one thread. So this is the rig i've planned to get: How will this system run FS9/FSX? Will i be able to take the PMDG 747 over the atlantic with good FPS (30+) at the end in FS9 versus FSX? I appreciate feedback of things i can change. Although, the price can't go a lot higher than this! Regards!/Wasso :)

Hi there! I'm currently still rigged on FS9. My specs are AMD X3 3.3ghz dual core, 4gig DDRR3 X2, and a ATI radeon HD 5670. I'm interested in the new PMDG 737 Ngx. So do you reckon i would be having difficulties with FSX, or would it run pretty smooth?

I have a Dell XPS 730 with a liquid cooled QX9650 processor factory overclocked to 3.67GHz, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz and a GTX 280 1024MB video card, running under Windows 7, 64-bit. While this system is fine with less demanding aircraft/scenery combinations, it slows to less than 10fps on/near the ground with, e.g., PMDG NGX at KPAE with Orbx scenery. Is replacing the MB and CPU with a processor that can be overclocked close to 5GHz a reasonable option (from a cost perspective, compared to buying a new machine)? Short of buying a new machine, is there anything that can be done to improve fps without sacrificing graphics quality? Thanks! Rushad

I'm at the beginning stages of doing the research to build my own FSX machine. I've read enough to realize that overclocking is a must and have settled on a I5 2600K as the processor. My 2 part question is this: First, as I read the signatures of some of the regulars here, I see that their processors are overclocked to different speeds. Why? What are the factors that go into which speed to overclock to? Second, I understand you have to mess with the voltage when you over clock. Is there a direct relationship between the two? How do I know how much to adjust the voltage relative to the overclock speed? Thanks. Dan Cole

Guys, I need to buy my kid a new laptop for school (Grade 10). Main uses will be MS Word, Excel plus just the general online nonsense like Facebook, MS Messenger, Skype, etc. I want to buy a very cheap laptop with screen of 15" or more that will do the job and will not be too slow. I have seen some for $350 with AMD chips (Dual Core C-50, E-350) but honestly I don't know a thing about these chips and if they are any good or not. Do you guys have suggestions ? (and thanks because every dollar you save me here is one that I have for some FS addon !!!) thanks, Mark.

Guys and Gals I have checked the forum and there have been some topics about this. What I am looking for is a way to use the keys on the left and not only open a window like the CDU but also tell it atthe same time to undock and maybe even go to a certain position on the monitor. Is something like that possible? And if so how? I do have an applet to use with the FSX that the LCD display holds info. Very cute but the k/board should be able to do more. Thx Ian
