I`m ready to throw my Saitek Yoke and Peddles out the window Finnaly got my PC moved from the kitchen to a desk, set up my yoke and stuff the same as I had on my old system and I`m having all sorts of problems. The yoke peddles and throttle have only seen a month of daylight before my old rig incident. I had it working flawlessly.Tried a test flight tonight and all sorts of strange stuff happening. Toe brakes not working (yes I`ve reveresed the axis), only turning to a point and you can see this in the VC cockpit yoke, can`t release the brakes with the toe brakes. 5. I've got an old machine, a 1.8 GHz Pentium 4. It's been very cranky lately, acting like it's got an overheating problem. I've upgraded from 512M to 2G of RAM. Yesterday, I got a 2.6 GHz processor (used) and put that in, cleaning out the fan cooler and replacing the thermal grease. The machine booted right up, but froze halfway into a game of solitaire after starting Windows XP successfully. Subsequent re-boots were unsuccessful. I configured the BIOS to run the full memory test, which takes a while. After it gets all the way through the memory, it just stops.During the memory test, if I press F2 to go to the BIOS Setup program, the memory test stops and the machine…

I cant afford to buy a decent off the shelf machine but am in dyer need of a new dedicated FSX machine.I have set a budget of £800 to buy everything i need to build a new tower. I am ready to purchase now but don't know where's best to buy or what to buy for that matter. I was hoping if I said what i wanted to achieve someone with experience would be able to tell me what i needed.I want to run a 3 monitor system with FSX settings on high achieving a good stable frame rate. the machine will be FSX dedicated. This is in regards to the results of my FSXMark11 test, but I didn't want to clutter up that thread with discussion. So, looking at similar systems in that thread my new PC seems to be under-performing by a decent margin. Might sound like a dumb question but i'll ask anyway. From what i have read you are supposed to get FSX and your addon scenery/ac all installed and set up and running stable etc. before starting any overclocking. I have now done this and am ready for the overclocking process and yes i have now run my i7 2600K on prime 95 at its stock settings for several hours and done some flying around with no problems. After i get it overclocked to where i want it and everything is tested and stable, do i have to set my rig back to stock settings every time i purchase another addon scenery or ac before installing it?

Hello everyone! Nice to be here on the avsim forums. After several months of reading, researching, and lurking in general I guess ;) I wanted to ask for your collective wisdom on choosing a headset/mic for fsx.I've got a Plantronics 995 wireless, but I'm not thrilled at all with the quality, and am strongly considering going back to a wired headset (though I hate the wires!). Maybe a Sennheiser PC151? or other?I'm not sure if I should be looking at more of a 'gaming' headset, or one targeted towards voice communications.I'll be using it with fsx and multi crew experience mainly. Comfort and audio quality (especially for the mic) are paramount. Not sure if this is the right…

When checking my temps at stock frequency and HT dissabled, i am getting idle temps on cores 0, 1 & 3 at 26-32c and on core 2 i am getting 36-37c. I have run both 'CPUID MONITOR' & 'REALTEMP' and as near as darn it, they are identical with the temps. Is this normal or should i be worried?i7-2600k/P8P67PRO/GSKILL-1600 CL8D - 8G(2X4)/NH-D14 clg.

I have been using fsx with hyperthreading turned off and and affinity value of 12 (this value seems to offer me the best performance). I then got the idea whether I could turn hyperthreading on, but tell fsx to use only the last two real cores, as an affinity mask of 12 says (12=1100). So, I decided to use an affinty value of 160 (160=10100000) because this value only uses the last two real cores and non of the virtual cores as an affinity value of 12 also does. Unfortunately, although I seem to be getting the same fps, when I pan around, especially in areas with much autogen, my frames seem to drop to the low teens. With hyperthreading off and affinty mask of 12…

Hi! I've been on the fence to upgrading my pretty new i7 rig for a while, mostly because im such a geek :D I'm still not 100% on upgrading as my current comp is handling fsx pretty good. But lets say I were to upgrade...I'm looking at a i5 2500K and an Asus P8P67 Deluxe B3, both seem to be handling the FSXMARK11 pretty fantastic. Right now I have 3x2GB Mushkin Redline RAM at 1600 6-8-6-24, which I am very satisified with; but if I were to go Sandy Bridge, would 3 sticks work? Or would I have to drop one stick and in that case would 4GB be sufficient for flying complex demanding planes like the PMDG 747X/MD11 in FSX on win7 64? If no on both accounts, what is your advice t…

Hi all,Just built a new system. Being not very computer savy I am learning a ton in the process. A couple questions though.I am on a budget so I bought all the components that I could swing with the cash I had, so I used my video card from my old system (plan to upgrade in the future). It is a NVIDIA GTS 450. Will this GPU bottleneck my system?Secondly, look at the screenshot from CPU-Z, it is only reporting my processor speed at 1648.2 mhz? Is there some sort of power saving feature that is activated that is causing this?Third, I have to wait to purchase a decent cpu cooler to overclock. What could I overclock this cpu with just the stock fan and be ok with temps for now…

I've finally made the upgrade, and I'm looking forward to trying out FSX on my new machine, which comes tomorrow! It includes a single 120GB SSD, and I'm a bit torn in terms of whether to put FSX on the SSD or just install it on the hard drive. I figure that my OS and apps are going to consume about 50GB, and my current FSX installation is 64GB. I can probably get things down to the essentials (maybe 40GB or so with Orbx scenery?), but that won't give me much future wiggle room on the SSD.I know that an SSD won't contribute to FSX performance at all, but it will help load times. On my current machine, to be honest, the load times are enough of a detriment that sometimes I …

  21. Hello, for 2009 XMAS I got a brand new Dell 1545. (Laptop) And I'm only 13. So I'm not going to get a new one for sometime now. I tried FSX on it for about a year. Didn't know what lag was, Using my PMDG 747. Then I saw a video on FSX. I was amazed that the video was running all smoothly whilst mine was stuttering. So then I looked at my FPS using SHIFT+Z. It was always around 3-7. So then I found out my computer is awful for FSX. I tried everything..I put all settings to minimal still around 7-10FPS. And some online tweeks game booster... Nothing happened. Then I want to try FS9. I tried it and it wasn't really my taste, I was too used to FSX. After some more looking ar…

I have been following this instruction guide to overclock my 2500Khttp://www.techreaction.net/2011/01/04/3-step-overclocking-guide-%E2%80%93-sandy-bridge-v0-1beta/2/I have my CPU multiplier up to 46 and the vCore up to 1.35V.
